Abstract

The making of the work of this final project animation departs from the assumption that the development of Indonesian films is much about the search for identity or an identity, and the struggle of nationalism. However, there are still less of them involving folklore that developed in Indonesian society.By using creative formula of Kentaro Kimura style, the making of this film tries to lift the folklore in Indonesia and try to pack it interestingly. At the stage of idea creation,we do a research of the narrative element of a folklore and reconstructed to explore possibilities in making into a new story. The series of animated films Thousand and One Temple (Seribu Satu Candi) is raised and inspired from the Legend of Prambanan Temple. This film tells the twists and turns of life of Bandung Bondowoso before he becomes a prince of magic. Narratively the concept of comedy makes these stories more interesting. The use of ornamentic concept from batik for the object textures makes this work give more nuances of Nusantara. Keywords :Directing, animation, and Seribu Satu Candi

Abstract

The increasing dominance of vertical video formats on mobile-first platforms such as Instagram Reels and TikTok presents new challenges for First Person View (FPV) drone videography, especially when capturing natural landscapes. This study aims to investigate the technical and compositional constraints of FPV drones in producing vertical video content for social media. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through field observation, interviews with 10 professional FPV pilots, and a supplementary online survey. The findings reveal key limitations, including fixed horizontal camera orientation, lack of gimbal-based stabilization, and control systems ergonomically optimized for horizontal framing. These constraints hinder smooth movement, reduce composition flexibility, and increase the difficulty of capturing high-quality vertical footage. Although some pilots attempt workarounds, such as custom camera mounts and post-production cropping, these solutions are often labor-intensive and compromise video quality. This study contributes practical insights for drone designers and content creators seeking to adapt FPV technology for vertical video production and offers a foundation for future research into hardware innovation and workflow adaptation in response to evolving social media trends.

Abstract

The neglect of traditional religious architecture, such as the Tuha Mosque, Meunasah, and Balee e-beut, is a significant and concerning phenomenon in Acehnese society. Rapid modernization and the massive influence of global media have been a force in this neglect. The purpose of this study is to conduct a thorough investigation on the reasons behind the neglect of Aceh's classical houses of worship. The qualitative approach involved a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature and a number of direct observations of architectural sites and interviews with cultural figures. The research findings reveal that the neglect of Aceh's classical houses of worship is the result of many complex and interconnected factors. Society's preference for Middle Eastern architectural styles and the strong currents of modernization have been important forces underlying the neglect of classical worship spaces. At the same time, the scarcity of goods and materials appropriate to the needs of classical architecture and the skills of carvers (utoh) have become objective realities that have caused classical architecture to be unable to be rehabilitated, let alone to be built. In line with this alarming condition, it is urgent to take concrete steps in the form of initiatives to promote appreciation of local wisdom and classical cultural identity, a commitment to applying a cultural identity-oriented approach in the construction and preservation of new houses of worship.

Abstract

Training spoken English tutors requires a variety of resources, including audio-visual references. However, popular social media tutorials often focus on teaching specific English materials, neglecting broader teaching techniques. Ideal tutors need a positive and engaging personality, knowledge transfer strategies, adaptable approaches to classroom conditions, meticulous preparation, and effective wrap-up activities - elements that are missing from most tutorial videos. This study investigates the potential of short documentary films as a reference for teaching techniques for 13 prospective tutors in an intermediate English class. Through an integrated mentoring program for the production of short documentaries, the study explores, describes and addresses the challenges of teaching preparation through observation, interviews and literature review. It also analyzes the potential of documentaries to support teaching and formulates criteria for effective documentary content relevant to teacher preparation. The findings suggest that integrating documentary film production into the English language teaching curriculum can equip tutors with the necessary skills for successful micro-teaching experiences. This approach allows tutors to create personalized short documentaries that serve as a reference for teaching techniques tailored to their specific pre-teaching needs. Tutors gain a deeper understanding and ability to demonstrate not only teaching techniques, but also classroom management elements such as preparation, wrap-up activities, brainstorming and teaching approaches.

Abstract

This study examines how narrative and cinematic constructions in the short films of Banyumas Raya, Indonesia, contribute to the formation of a distinct Panginyongan film identity. Focusing on three fictional film works, Dolanan Layangan, Pur, and SETAN: Seni Tani, this research employs a qualitative content analysis method grounded in Bordwell's film concept, integrated with theories of realism (Bazin), creative improvisation (Sawyer), and identity representation (Hall). The findings reveal a synergistic construction of identity through three interconnected themes: (1) narratives centered on everyday conflicts resolved through communal values, (2) a realist-improvisational aesthetic using long takes, natural lighting, and non-professional actors to achieve authenticity, and (3) the use of the Ngapak language and local cultural symbols as markers of identity and symbolic resistance. The study concludes that these films function not merely as cultural representations but as active sites of identity negotiation. Furthermore, it proposes a Panginyongan Film Identity Model that synthesizes these elements, offering a framework for understanding similar practices in other Indonesian regional cinemas. This research underscores the significance of local cinema as a vital cultural practice that challenges mainstream aesthetics and contributes to Indonesia's diverse national cinematic landscape.
