Abstract

Abstract

This research focuses on the wide-ranging notion of inclusivity looking at cultural studies and highlights the non-Western contexts like Indonesia. Following PRISMA protocols, a systematic literature review was carried out on 45 selected articles published between the years of 2015 and 2025. The findings show that there are three primary themes: culture representation, power relations, and local traditions. It can also be remarked that the western notion of inclusivity seems inadequate when placed in collectivist contexts. ‘Gotong royong’ as an example of Indonesian inclusivity models reflects traditional local customs. Furthermore, decolonial and intersectional frameworks illuminate the enduring socio-historical inequalities that are shaped through identity-based hierarchies within practices of inclusion. This research articulates the need to develop a culturally specific framework of inclusivity which regards inclusivity as multiscopic; rooted in local contexts while applicable worldwide. It seeks to contribute to scholarship and guide policy for more inclusive governance towards social justice.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Industri Perjalanan Haji, Transportasi, Kondisi Pasca Revolusi Kemerdekaan AbstractThe Hajj travel industry is currently the subject of discussion among politicians, public policy makers as well as academics and religious figures. The basis for this discussion is how the management of the Hajj and Umrah industry experienced significant changes from colonial times to the early era of independence which was influenced by globalization, advances in transportation technology and socio-economic dynamics. The service industry experiences stiff competition among travel agents. This research aims to analyze the challenges in Hajj industry management from the perspective of government policy and the activities of the local service industry which participated in Hajj travel services during the early days of independence. This research uses qualitative research with a literature study source approach. The results of the research show that the management of the Hajj and Umrah industry experienced social changes after Indonesia's independence. If previously it was monopolized by the Dutch East Indies Government with Dutch company ships, then after independence it was more varied from steamships to airplanes. In the process, local entrepreneurs are involved as travel agents. However, there are still many facts of fraud or things that are detrimental to Hajj pilgrims.Discussion of the findings in this research shows that first, the dream of improving Hajj travel by establishing a Muslim shipping company, has no effect on the progress of Hajj transportation. The service for transporting Hajj pilgrims on their way to Jeddah was still not much different between the Colonial Period and the early days of independent Indonesia. Significant improvements after control of the Hajj trip was held by the government through the Department of Religion and the shipping company PT. Arafat. Secondly, in the administrative aspect of transporting Hajj pilgrims, it is still often detrimental to pilgrims and even tends to be discriminatory, as can be seen in the issue of Hajj quotas. This research was studied in order to provide a new perspective and recommend study material for writing the history of the pilgrimage in the early days of Independent Indonesia. Keywords: Hajj Travel Industry, Transportation, Post-Independence Conditions

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of inclusive education on school performance from managerial and financial perspectives in three public schools in South Tangerang, Indonesia. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from surveys and budget documents with qualitative insights from interviews with school leaders. Quantitative findings indicate a positive correlation between budget allocation for inclusive programs and improvements in student engagement and dropout rates. However, inconsistencies in funding distribution and limitations in budget autonomy hinder the full realization of inclusive goals. Qualitative data reveal that school administrators are committed to inclusive values but face systemic constraints in aligning policy with practice. Leadership strategies such as collaborative decision-making and shared responsibility were commonly adopted, although challenges remain in data utilization and financial planning. The study concludes that inclusive education requires not only adequate and predictable funding but also managerial capacity and institutional flexibility. Effective inclusion depends on the interplay between financial investment, leadership responsiveness, and data-informed governance. These findings have important implications for policymakers seeking to strengthen inclusive education through sustainable financial models and leadership development initiatives.

Abstract

In the midst of rapid digital transformation, language education faces the urgent need to redesign curricula that align with technological advancements while ensuring inclusivity. This study aims to investigate how technology facilitates the reconstruction of language curricula in urban Indonesian contexts. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study design, data were collected from 15 language teachers across eight schools in South Jakarta and South Tangerang between August and October 2024 through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis revealed three major findings: (1) technological adaptation varied by region, with South Jakarta schools integrating advanced tools such as AI-powered applications, while South Tangerang relied on basic platforms due to infrastructural constraints; (2) pedagogical shifts toward learner-centered approaches were more evident in well-resourced schools, supported by collaborative digital tools; and (3) inclusivity efforts, including smartphone-based activities and bilingual resources, were hindered by socioeconomic disparities and unstable internet access. The study concludes that while technology holds transformative potential for language education, its impact is constrained by resource inequities, highlighting the need for targeted teacher training and equitable infrastructure investment. These findings contribute to the limited Southeast Asian literature on technology-enhanced curriculum design and offer practical implications for policymakers and educators in developing contexts.
