Abstract

Asiaticoside is one of the compounds of the triterpenoid group that functions as an antibacterial by forming a complex with cell membranes that pass through hydrogen bonds, then destroying the permeability of bacterial cell walls. Spray gel is considered a more practical and safer form of gel preparations due to its use, which can minimize microorganism contamination. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of asiaticoside combined with niacinamide on its physical properties and antibacterial activity. This research method was carried out experimentally to manufacture spray gel preparations with variations in asiaticoside concentrations of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. Spray gel preparations were tested for physical properties, stability, and antibacterial activity using the good diffusion method by producing preparations that meet the requirements of physical properties testing, did not cause irritating effects on the skin, good stability and results of antibacterial activity of spray gels produce different inhibitory zone diameters of 1.73 mm ± 2.00 (F0); 5.21 mm ± 1.25 (F1); 6.38 mm ± 1.01 (F2); 12.57 mm ± 4.73 (F3) and 16.20 mm ± 5.04 (F4). The five formulas exhibit good physical properties, stability, and antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes.

Abstract

Pigmen antosianin yang terdapat pada limbah kulit buah Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum. L), memiliki kelarutan dalam air sehingga mampu bereaksi baik dengan asam ataupun basa. Perubahan warna antosianin pada ekstrak kulit rambutan ini dapat menjadi potensi sebagai indikator dalam menentukkan titik akhir pada titrasi asam basa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ekstrak dari limbah kulit rambutan dapat digunakan sebagai indicator asam basa. Ekstraksi kulit buah Rambutan dilakukan menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol_HCl 1%. Karakteristik Indikator meliputi uji perubahan warna dalam asam dan basa, menentukkan trayek, uji stabilitas ekstraks dan aplikasinya dalam titrasi asam basa. Hasil karakteristik indikator dari ekstrak kulit Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum. L) memberikan perubahan warna yang berbeda dalam lingkungan asam dan basa coklat pada range pH 2-8 dari merah menjadi coklat tua. Ekstrak etanol paling stabil pada pH 2 dan pH 3 dengan nilai signifikansi (p<0,05) yaitu 0,032 yang menandakan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada pH 2 dan pH 3. Indicator ekstrak etanol kulit buah Rambutan memiliki hasil analisis yang hampir sama denga indikator Phenofthalein pada titrasi asam basa. Abstract

ABSTRAKMinyak zaitun dikenal luas sebagai bahan aktif alami yang efektif dalam sediaan topikal karena sifat antioksidan, antiinflamasi, dan emoliennya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh tiga jenis gelling agent—Natrium Karboksimetilselulosa, Viscolam®, dan karbomer—terhadap stabilitas fisik, keamanan, dan preferensi pengguna terhadap emulgel minyak zaitun. Emulgel diformulasikan dalam tiga variasi, kemudian dievaluasi melalui uji pH, viskositas, daya sebar, organoleptik, cycling test, uji iritasi pada hewan, dan uji hedonik pada panelis manusia. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa formula dengan basis Natrium Karboksimetilselulosa memiliki viskositas tertinggi dan kestabilan pH optimal, namun daya sebarnya paling rendah. Formula dengan Viscolam® menunjukkan daya sebar terbaik, viskositas rendah, serta skor tertinggi dalam uji hedonik, menandakan kenyamanan penggunaan yang lebih baik. Formula karbomer menunjukkan stabilitas yang cukup baik secara keseluruhan. Semua formula dinyatakan aman karena tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit hewan uji. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya pemilihan gelling agent dalam pengembangan emulgel berbasis minyak zaitun yang optimal dan diterima pengguna. Studi ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan sediaan topikal berbahan alami yang lebih efektif, stabil, dan nyaman digunakan.Kata Kunci : emulgel, minyak zaitun, gelling agent, stabilitas fisik, uji hedonik

Abstract

Poor aqueous solubility limits the bioavailability of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like mefenamic acid. This study aims to improve the solubility and dissolution of mefenamic acid through crystalline solid dispersions using solvent evaporation and co-grinding techniques with selected co-formers. Solid dispersions were formulated at different drug-to-co-former ratios (1:1, 1:2, and 2:1) and characterized using differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction. DSC results revealed reduced crystallinity, indicated by the disappearance of melting peaks and the appearance of a single glass transition temperature. FTIR analysis confirmed hydrogen bonding between the drug and co-former, while PXRD patterns showed a loss of long-range order, supporting the formation of amorphous phases. Dissolution testing demonstrated a significant increase in drug release, particularly in the 1:2 formulation, which outperformed the pure drug and other ratios. These results confirm that the choice of preparation method and co-former ratio critically influence the performance of solid dispersions. This study provides valuable insights into the design of improved oral formulations for poorly soluble drugs, contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical technology

Abstract

ABSTRAK Stunting merupakan permasalahan gizi kronis yang masih menjadi tantangan kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia, termasuk di Kabupaten Tasikmalaya. Upaya pencegahan stunting dapat dilakukan melalui peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dan pemanfaatan pangan lokal bergizi tinggi. Kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan dilakukan di Dusun Babakanhanja, Desa Sinagar dengan sasaran ibu hamil, ibu menyusui, orang tua balita, serta kader PKK dan Posyandu. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyuluhan mengenai stunting, pretest dan posttest untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta, serta praktik pembuatan puding sehat berbahan dasar daun kelor, labu kuning, dan ubi jalar oranye. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pengetahuan peserta, terbukti dari kenaikan persentase pemahaman baik dari 60,6% menjadi 81,8%. Selain itu, peserta juga merespons positif inovasi puding sehat sebagai alternatif pangan bergizi. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa edukasi disertai praktik langsung mampu meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dalam pencegahan stunting dengan memanfaatkan bahan pangan lokal. Kata Kunci: Penyuluhan, Gizi, Stunting, Daun Kelor, Puding  ABSTRACT Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a public health challenge in Indonesia, including in Tasikmalaya District. Efforts to prevent stunting can be made by increasing public knowledge and utilizing highly nutritious local foods.  Socialization and training activities were carried out in Babakanhanja Hamlet, Sinagar Village, targeting pregnant women, nursing mothers, parents of toddlers, as well as  PKK and Posyandu. The methods used included educational sessions on stunting, pre-tests and post-tests to measure participants' understanding, and practical sessions on making healthy pudding using moringa leaves, yellow squash, and orange sweet potatoes.  The results of the activities showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, as evidenced by an increase in the percentage of good understanding from 60.6% to 81.8%. Additionally, participants responded positively to the healthy pudding innovation as a nutritious food alternative. This activity demonstrated that education combined with hands-on practice can enhance community awareness in preventing stunting by utilizing local food ingredients. Keywords: Education, Nutrition, Stunting, Moringa Leaves, Pudding

Abstract

Musa x paradisiaca L. leaves are known to contain phenols, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and other compounds that can be used as larvicides. This study aims to determine the effect of Musa x paradisiaca L leaves’ ethanol extract granules on the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. The Research was experimental in two stages of effectiveness testing, that are extract and granule formula effectiveness test. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Mann-Whitney test. The extraction method used was maceration using 96% ethanol. The concentration of the extract dosage used were 0.2; 0.5; 1; 2; and 4%, with control (+) temephos and control (-). Repetitions were carried out 3 times with a sample total of 675 larvae. Observations were made for 12 and 24 hours. Preparation of granules using 2 formulas, formula 1 granules without extract and formula 2 granules with the extract. To fulfill the granule formulation criteria, the preparation was evaluated. The results showed that the concentration of 4% extract was the most effective at 98.7%, as stated by the Kruskal-Wallis test result, p-value <0.05, which means that there was an effect on the effectiveness of larvicide. The percentage of mortality of larvae given formula 2 is 100% and based on the Mann-Whitney test with value p<0.05,there is a difference between granule 1 and 2 formula. Criteria of granule including moisture content (1.72 %), angle of rest 240, flow velocity (50 gr/sec), and dispersion time (2.25 minutes). The granular formula of Musa x paradisiaca L leaves can make the application easier and hopefully can be used as effectively as synthetic larvicide in the community.
