Abstract

The delivery of goods from warehouses to branch offices plays a crucial role in ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. However, inefficiencies in the delivery process often result in waste, such as excessive waiting times, unnecessary movements, and high operational costs. This study aims to analyze waste in the goods delivery process using the Lean Service approach and provide recommendations for improvement. Data collection methods include direct observation, interviews with logistics personnel, and process mapping to identify non-value-added activities. The results indicate that applying Lean Service principles, such as streamlining workflows, reducing unnecessary handling, and optimizing resource utilization, can significantly enhance delivery efficiency. Implementing these strategies helps minimize delays, reduce costs, and improve service quality. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more efficient supply chain management strategies and serve as a reference for companies looking to optimize their logistics operations.

Abstract

Millions of pets are temporarily placed in shelters, making it challenging for shelters to ensure pets find permanent homes. High adoption rates are crucial for animal welfare and the sustainability of shelter operations. This study aims to identify key factors influencing pet adoption and create classification metrics using five machine learning (ML) classification model approaches to predict the likelihood of pet adoption, to find the best model performance for each analysis. The dataset was obtained from several features related to animal characteristics and adoption conditions. The results of the study present classification of metric models that indicate decision tree and random forest (RF) as the most effective models with superior performance in terms of accuracy and class separation ability. Further research provides initial exploration of ML models that are not only limited to classification models but also model integration into internet of things (IoT) systems for the implementation of a pet adoption prediction system based on ML inference. The implementation of ML classification models helps improve the efficiency of animal adoption programs and optimize shelter operations, ultimately increasing the chances of successful pet adoption. The results of the study provide insights into factors influencing pet adoption, minimizing the length of stay (LOS) in shelters, and contribute to practitioners/ researchers as a reference for exploring new related factors and exploring the performance of ML models, especially classification models.

Abstract

Semoga Laris tofu factory is a business engaged in the production of tofu. This factory produces approximately 80 drums of tofu per day. There are problems faced at this factory, namely the increase in defective products, namely the texture of the tofu that is too soft, dirty tofu, and the shape of the tofu that is too thin. This can lead to decreased consumer confidence. Every day there are at least 10-15% defective products. This study was conducted to determine the types of product defects, the causes of product defects, and propose improvements to minimize defective products in tofu processing. The methods used in this research are Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). The quality tools of SQC method are check sheet, histogram, pareto diagram, P control map, and fishbone diagram. Then proceed using the Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) method to determine suggestions and corrective actions. Based on the results of research using the SQC method, it is known that the number of thin size defects is 46.231, there is dirt on the tofu as many as 16.093 seeds, and the texture of soft tofu is 27.357 seeds. The results of the analysis using the fault tree analysis (FTA) method show that the causes of product defects include insufficient rest time (D2), irregular machine maintenance (E2), insufficient rest time (F1), and no temperature checker. Proposed improvements that can be given are by providing measuring instruments, making machine maintenance schedules, making machine control cards, giving breaks, supervising, giving gifts to workers, and providing thermometers.
