Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the creative thinking process of students' field-independent cognitive style in solving mathematical problems related to the circumference of a flat shape. The method used was descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were class VIII students who had a field-independent cognitive style based on the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). Data were obtained through tests, documentation, observation, and interviews. Data analysis was carried out using four creative thinking processes developed by Graham Walla, namely preparation, incubation, illumination, and verification. The results indicated that students could understand the problem well, tend to be quiet to find solutions, could design solutions that would be done by choosing ideas to be solved by modifying the knowledge they already have and applying designed ideas to solve problems. Therefore, students seemed to understand mathematical operations related to the circumference of plat shapes. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyajikan proses berpikir kreatif gaya kognitif field-Independent siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika berkaitan dengan keliling bangun datar. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini merupakan siswa kelas VIII yang memiliki gaya kognitif field-independent berdasarkan hasil tes Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). Data diperoleh melalui tes, dokumentasi, observasi, dan wawancara. Analysis data dilakukan menggunakan empat proses berpikir kreatif yang dikembangkan Graham Walla, yaitu persiapan, inkubasi, iluminasi, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Siswa dapat memahami masalah dengan baik, cenderung pendiam untuk mencari solusi, dapat merancang solusi yang akan dilakukan dengan memilih ide untuk diselesaikan dengan memodifikasi pengetahuan yang telah dimiliki, dan menerapkan ide yang dirancang untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Oleh karena itu, siswa tampak memahami operasi matematika yang berkaitan dengan keliling bangun datar.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy involves mastery of concepts, procedures, and critical and creative thinking in applying mathematical knowledge to everyday life problems. The study examined the mathematical literacy used by 36 students for the percentage problems. The students were invited to solve two kinds of percentage problems called Best Buy and Savings Over problems. There are four response categories for correct answer, one for reasonable response, and two categories for incorrect answers. Analysis of the responses showed that at least half of the students understood that they could not compare percentages without considering what the percentages represented. The majority of this group solved the problem explicitly by showing that the answer depends on the list price. Some students did this indirectly by taking examples of items that had the same list price or nominal value in both stores and then performing the calculations. About half of the students compared the two percentages as absolutes. The other students proceeded in the same way but came to the wrong conclusion. This raises the issue of evaluating these responses. Although the correct answers were not given, it is clear that these students knew that the percentages were related to something. These responses were not scored as “approximately correct reading” or “performing the task correctly,” but they were still considered and rewarded as reasonable responses. Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a GeoGebra-based virtual learning medium in improving students' conceptual understanding of the elements of a circle, including radius, diameter, arc, sector, and segment, as well as their ability to calculate area and circumference. Using a Classroom Action Research design, this study was conducted through structured learning stages consisting of Identifying, Observing, and Concluding. Students were actively engaged in exploration, visual construction, and reflection through the use of GeoGebra integrated into digital worksheets (LKPD). Data were collected through observation and student questionnaires and analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis. The findings indicate that the use of GeoGebra significantly enhances student engagement and understanding of abstract mathematical concepts by enabling direct interaction and visualization. Most students demonstrated improved abilities in defining and representing the elements of a circle, as well as calculating area and circumference independently. Moreover, the integration of reflective activities strengthened conceptual understanding and promoted student-centered learning. Although implementation was deemed effective, this study also identified several challenges such as students' initial unfamiliarity with the GeoGebra interface and technical limitations related to internet access and digital devices. These results suggest that GeoGebra is a powerful constructivist tool in mathematics education, provided it is supported by clear instructional guidance and adequate technological infrastructure. This research contributes to addressing the gap in the application of GeoGebra in circle geometry instruction at the secondary education level, particularly in promoting exploratory and reflective learning through digital worksheets.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas tentang pelatihan model pembelajaran interaktif dalam kurikulum merdeka yang dirancang khusus untuk guru-guru di SMPN 2 Majene dari berbagai mata pelajaran. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru SMPN 2 Majene mengenai model-model pembelajaran interaktif yang sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip kurikulum merdeka. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17-18 Maret 2025 di SMPN 2 Majene. Terdapat 30 guru sebagai peserta atau responden pada pelatihan ini. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup kurikulum merdeka dan model pembelajaran interaktif yang relevan dengan kurikulum merdeka. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru-guru di SMPN 2 Majene mengenai model-model pembelajaran interaktif dalam kurikulum merdeka.

Abstract

This activity was motivated by the limited ability of teachers to develop interactive and engaging digital teaching materials, which affects students’ independent learning skills. In today’s digital era, teachers are required not only to master the subject matter but also to utilize technology to support an independent and enjoyable learning process. The main objective of this activity was to provide training for teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Arifah Gowa in developing teaching materials through interactive online sites as an innovative learning approach to promote student autonomy. The implementation method consisted of three main stages: planning, execution, and evaluation. During the planning stage, training materials were prepared, covering the introduction of digital platforms, techniques for developing site-based teaching materials, and practical implementation guides. The execution stage was carried out through face-to-face training sessions combined with individual practice and intensive mentoring by the implementation team. The evaluation stage was conducted through assessment of the teaching products, reflective discussions, and participant satisfaction questionnaires. This activity involved a single group of 25 teachers from Madrasah Aliyah with diverse subject backgrounds. The results showed that all participants were able to create teaching materials using Google Sites that were attractive, easily accessible to students, and aligned with their respective subjects. The materials produced have been used as independent learning resources by students at their schools. The benefits gained include improved teacher competence in digital teaching material development, increased student motivation to learn independently, and the formation of a collaborative teacher network for developing learning media. This activity emphasizes that engaging teachers in practice-based training can drive digital transformation in education and strengthen the active role of the educational community in improving student learning quality.

Abstract

Ukuran pemusatan data digunakan dalam berbagai sektor, seperti politik, kesehatan, pendidikan, bisnis dan lain-lain. Terdapat tiga ukuran pemusatan data yang sering kita jumpai dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, yaitu mean, median, dan modus. Ketiga ukuran pemusatan data tersebut memiliki kegunaannya masing masing. Namun masih sering ditemui kesalahan dalam menggunakan ukuran pemusatan data. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan dan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam memilih ukuran pemusatan data yang paling sesuai. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes dan wawancara. Penelitian ini melibatkan 100 mahasiswa matematika yang telah mempelajari matakuliah statistika dasar. Analisis data mencakup kondensasi data, penyajian data, serta kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan secara umum mahasiswa telah mengetahui konsep rata-rata, median, dan modus. Namun mahasiswa belum mampu memilih ukuran pemusatan data yang paling sesuai. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah mahasiswa tidak memperhatikan sebaran data dalam menentukan ukuran pemusatan data yang paling sesuai, namun mengacu pada pemahamannya masing-masing. Adapun kelompok mahasiswa yang memilih rata-rata berpandangan rata-rata lebih representatif karena melibatkan semua data dalam operasinya. Kelompok mahasiswa yang memilih median berpandangan median lebih representatif karena median merupakan nilai tengah. Sedangkan kelompok mahasiswa yang memilih modus berpandangan modus lebih representatif karena merupakan nilai yang sering muncul dalam kumpulan data. Sedangkan kelompok lain berpandangan bahwa ukuran pemusatan data yang memiliki nilai yang paling tinggi merupakan nilai yang paling representatif.

Abstract

One thing that can bridge the gap between culture and education is ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics is a form of mathematics influenced by or based on culture. Through the application of ethnomathematics in education, especially mathematics education, will bring better understanding of students about both knowledge and culture of theirs. This way will help teacher for teaching cultural values ​​in students so that cultural values ​​which are part of the national character are embedded from an early age of student. The formation of this new scheme should be from the scheme that already exists in the student. Therefore, in teaching formal mathematics (school mathematics), teachers should start with informal mathematics which is applied by children in society. If a child has a good schema about mathematics used in daily basis increase the existing knowledge the teacher strengthens the existing schema or forms a new schema based on the existing schema.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology offers significant opportunities to improve the quality of education, particularly in mathematics, which is often perceived as a difficult and tedious subject. One innovation that can be utilized is Augmented Reality (AR), which integrates virtual objects into real environments in real-time, making learning more engaging, interactive, and contextual. This community service activity was carried out in collaboration with the Mathematics Subject Teachers’ Forum (MGMP) of Maros Regency, aiming to enhance teachers’ competence in utilizing AR as a learning medium, to create a more enjoyable classroom atmosphere, and to provide alternative innovative teaching media. The implementation method consisted of three stages: socialization and introduction to AR, practice and learning simulation, and mentoring and evaluation. The results indicated an increase in teachers’ knowledge and skills in using AR, along with high enthusiasm when conducting AR-based mathematics learning simulations. Furthermore, the program was followed up with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Makassar, and the Government of Maros Regency as a form of mutual commitment to support the implementation of AR in mathematics education at schools. Thus, this training has had a positive impact on improving the quality of teaching and students’ learning motivation, as well as serving as a strategic step in advancing educational innovation in the 21st century.

Abstract

Bagi seorang pendidik, keberadaan media berperan penting dalam mengonkretkan suatu konsep atau gagasan sekaligus menumbuhkan motivasi peserta didik untuk lebih aktif dalam proses belajar. Canva, sebagai aplikasi desain grafis berbasis daring, memberikan kemudahan bagi guru dalam merancang beragam bentuk pembelajaran yang kreatif. Pemanfaatan aplikasi ini menjadi solusi bagi guru-guru sekolah dasar yang belum memiliki keterampilan optimal dalam penggunaan teknologi informasi, khususnya dalam menyusun pembelajaran yang interaktif. Melalui kegiatan praktik yang dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Maros, para guru berkesempatan untuk mencoba secara langsung pembuatan media pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan Canva. Hasil dari kegiatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa para guru berhasil menghasilkan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan kelas dengan bantuan aplikasi tersebut.
