Abstract

ABSTRACT Decreasing physical fitness contributes to the morbidity and mortality rates of the elderly. Physical fitness of a person aged 60 years is determined by the level of physical fitness through a six minutes test.. Efforts to improve physical fitness levels are needed for sports, one of which is Senam Jantung Sehat Seri-I, which takes into account the frequency of exercise. The purpose of this study was to analyze the frequency of Senam Jantung Sehat Seri-I that can improve cardiorespiratory fitness in the elderly. This study used a pre-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design approach that included 27 healthy elderly people and routinely carried out Senam Jantung Sehat Seri-I exercises at the Nursing Home. The research subjects were divided into 3 groups based on the frequency of gymnastics activity per week which was 3.4, and 5 times a week for 6 weeks. Improved physical fitness was determined through the distance traveled on the 6-minute test at weeks 1 and 6. The difference in statistically traveled distance was analyzed using Independent t-test with a p-value 0.05 expressed as significant. The elderly group who did Senam Jantung Sehat Seri-I 3 times a week had a significant mean difference (-106.0; p = 0.009), while groups 4 and 5 times a week did not show significant results. In conclusion, this study provides evidence that Senam Jantung Sehat Seri-I 3 times a week improves cardiorespiratory fitness.

Abstract

Adolescents’ problematic behavior is in relation to premarital sexual behavior. Adolescents’ premarital sexual behavior can cause abortion, unwanted pregnancy, death, potential HIV/AIDS infection as well as moral decency crime in Gowa District. Factors of premarital sexual behavior among adolescents include gender, origin of school, status and frequency of dating, religious norms, household norms, knowledge and the uses of smartphone. This research aims at analyzing adolescents’ characteristics of and the uses of smartphone in relation with premarital sexual behavior among high school students in Gowa District, South Sulawesi Province. It was the correlational design quantitative research. Total samples amounted to 500 high school students in Gowa District, South Sulawesi Province after these were selected with the cluster sampling. The questionnaire used in this research consisted of religious norms (the reliability test results of 0.791, R-value of 0.397–0.678), household norms (the reliability test results of 0.856, R-value of 0.430–0.893), knowledge (the reliability test results of 0.738, R-value of 0.362–0.514), and premarital sexual behavior (the reliability test results of 0.844, R-value of 0,483–0,763), smartphone use with the calculated R value > r table (0.514) the reliability indicates the alpha cronbach’s value> 0.60. The analyzed data use Chi square and logistic regression. The research results show that the premarital sexual behavior has total risk value of 66.0% and the unrisky value of 34.0%. It relates to some adolescents’ characteristics among others frequency of dating (p=0.000), status of dating (p=0.000), religious norms (p=0.000), household norms (p=0.000), knowledge (p=0.000), and smartphone use (p=0.000), the variables of adolescents’ characteristics i.e. gender and the origin of school do not have significant relationship (p> 0.05). The smartphone use is the most significant factor with the premarital sexual behavior (OR=3.583). The smartphone use is the most significant factor with premarital sexual behavior, and therefore, it indicates that teachers at school and parents at home should who carry out the control and adolescent education in the smartphone use are important factors to be upgraded. The school based health education program can avoid the risky premarital sexual behavior, and the program can focus on the control of smartphone use and skill training among adolescents.

Abstract

Physical activity in the elderly will improve cognitive function. Biomolecular changes to see an increase in elderly cognitive function are characterized by an increase in the expression of plasma protein Brain Derived Nerve Factor (BDNF). Efforts to improve cognitive function can be done in Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I . In this study the aim was to analyze the influence of Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I three times a week for 6 weeks to Plasma Protein Expression of BDNF in Elderly. This study used a pre-experiment with the design of one group pre and post test for 27 samples of healthy elderly aged > 60 years and routinely conduct Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I 3 times a week for 6 weeks. To determine BDNF levels taken from elderly plasma blood then measured using the Enzime Link Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. To analyze the influence of Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I to plasma protein expression of BDNF, a paired t-test was used so that the mean differences between before and after gymnastics were known. There were differences in the mean BDNF plasma protein expression before and after Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I (2174,52 ± 700,79 VS 1981 ± 915,17 pg/ mL, p = 0,40 ; p > 0,05) with the mean difference was 192,69 which means Indonesian Cardio Gymnastic Serie-I 3 times a week for 6 weeks had no influence to plasma protein expression of BDNF because the level has decreased by 91.14% after exercising

Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged at the end of 2019 and spread worldwide, becoming a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Agents, hosts, and the environment influence disease transmission. Perception influences healthy behavior in preventing disease transmission. This study aims to determine differences in the perception of health care workers (HCWs) on COVID-19 prevention behavior based on the area of work and exposure. This study is a cross-sectional study with a survey method using the health belief model questionnaire with research subjects who were HCWs on duty during the COVID-19 pandemic from May to July 2021 in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital. Statistical tests used were chi-square and Kruskal-Walis tests. From 346 subjects, it was found that the perception of susceptibility and self-efficacy of HCW in the yellow and red zones was higher than in the green zone (p=0.002). In comparison, the perception of barriers in the yellow zone was higher than in the red area (p=0.014). Health care workers had relatively similar mean scores in terms of knowledge (median 7 of 9), perceived benefits (median 27 of 30), cues to action (median 20 of 20), and perceived severity (median 19 of 30). Based on the history of exposure, the parameter of cues to the action of HCWs exposed to COVID-19 was better than those never exposed (p=0.009). HCW of Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital has good knowledge and perception of the prevention of COVID-19. Differences in the perception of HCW between the work area and exposure history require more targeted and specific educational interventions and actions.
