Abstract

Desa Pasar X di Kecamatan Kutalimbaru, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, memiliki keterbatasan akses listrik untuk penerangan fasilitas umum. Solusi yang diusulkan adalah sistem pikohidro dengan Turbin Vortex, yang memanfaatkan aliran air sungai untuk menghasilkan listrik. Sistem ini terdiri dari basin berdiameter 100 cm dan tinggi 80 cm dengan impeller 9 sudu. Aliran air menciptakan pusaran yang memutar impeller, mengubah energi air menjadi listrik sebesar 35 watt, cukup untuk menerangi masjid. Sistem ini cocok untuk desa dengan debit air rendah, dan listrik disimpan dalam baterai untuk penggunaan malam hari. Proses implementasi meliputi survei, pemasangan turbin, integrasi dengan sistem lokal, serta uji performa. Inovasi ini mudah diterapkan, berpotensi menjadi model energi terbarukan, dan diharapkan meningkatkan kualitas hidup dengan penerangan yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Rural development based on agrotourism is booming in Indonesia to increase community income. The process of cultivating grapes as an agrotourism has stages from land preparation, variety selection, proper watering care, to the process of picking and processing the harvest. The Bangun Sari village community has begun to develop grape cultivation as one of the agrotourism objects. However, due to limited human resources and technology, the productivity of agrotourism plants in Bangun Sari village has not been going well. The results of the grape plants that are currently cultivated are not optimal and many grape plants have not grown well because the irrigation and watering system is not good according to plant needs. International community service activities carried out by lecturers at the Medan State Polytechnic and in collaboration with the Nilai Negeri Sembilan Malaysia Polytechnic aim to implement automatic irrigation methods for grape farmers in Medan City. Community service activities begin with the presentation of material on automatic irrigation and watering systems followed by the fabrication and installation process of equipment in the field. The results of this community service activity are in the form of increased knowledge and delivery of products in the form of automatic irrigation and watering installations that have been installed at the grape cultivation location. The construction of this automatic fertigation equipment can solve farmers' problems. Ultimately, increasing the fertility and yield of grape plants can have an impact on increasing income.

Abstract

Program Kegiatan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan prinsip-prinsip Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) dalam upaya mencegah kecelakaan kerja pada pekerjaan di area ketinggian, khususnya dalam penggunaan scaffolding di PT. Fratama Dinamika Solusindo. Fokus utama dari program ini adalah penggunaan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) seperti helm, body harness, dan perlengkapan keselamatan lainnya untuk melindungi pekerja dari risiko cedera serius. Selain itu, program ini juga melibatkan sosialisasi dan pelatihan tentang prosedur K3 kepada seluruh pekerja, dengan tujuan untuk memastikan kepatuhan terhadap standar keselamatan yang telah ditetapkan. Melalui implementasi yang efektif, diharapkan risiko kecelakaan dapat diminimalkan dan keselamatan kerja dapat terjaga selama pelaksanaan proyek.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop a prototype of a micro-hydro vortex turbine featuring two geometric variations—cylindrical and conical basins—as a practicum tool for the Renewable Energy course at Politeknik Negeri Medan. The system is equipped with a microcontroller-based digital control unit to monitor real-time water discharge, and it utilizes solar energy as the primary power source. The research adopts an engineering experimental approach, encompassing the design, fabrication, hydraulic performance testing, and integration of the monitoring system. The expected outcomes include a functional prototype, an integrated monitoring method, comparative performance data for different turbine geometries, and educational outputs such as practicum modules and instructional videos. These findings are anticipated to contribute to the advancement of laboratory-scale renewable energy technologies and serve as an interactive educational medium in vocational micro-hydro learning systems.

Abstract

Program PMKM ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas teknis dan manajerial mitra usaha mikro di bidang konstruksi, melalui pelatihan perangkat lunak desain (AutoCAD), manajemen usaha, dan sosialisasi teknologi terkini. Mitra kegiatan adalah PT. Sadli Jaya Abadi, sebuah perusahaan lokal yang bergerak di bidang konstruksi logam. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi kebutuhan mitra, pelatihan teknis, pendampingan usaha, dan evaluasi hasil. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada keterampilan teknis desain konstruksi, pengelolaan usaha yang lebih sistematis, serta tumbuhnya kesadaran akan pentingnya inovasi dalam bersaing di sektor industri lokal. Kegiatan ini memperkuat kapasitas lokal dan mendorong kemandirian industri kecil.

Abstract

Drill pipes are critical components in oil, gas, and geothermal drilling operations, serving as conduits for circulating drilling fluids from the surface to the borehole while simultaneously transmitting mechanical loads. Due to severe operating conditions, including high pressure, cyclic loading, and corrosive environments, the integrity of welded joints in drill pipes must be ensured through appropriate welding methods and quality evaluation. This study investigates the effects of heat input variations on the mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of welded joints in ASTM A106 Grade B steel pipes produced using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Welding was performed using a single V-groove butt joint configuration in the 1G position with a constant welding current of 140 A. SMAW welding employed E7018 electrodes, while GMAW utilized ER70S-6 filler wire with a shielding gas mixture of 70% argon and 30% CO?. Mechanical performance was evaluated through bending tests, including root and face bends, in accordance with applicable standards. In addition, microstructural analysis of the weld metal and Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) was conducted using optical microscopy after chemical etching to identify phase distribution and grain morphology. The bending test results revealed that SMAW-welded joints exhibited higher ultimate stress (?u) values than GMAW-welded joints. The highest ?u value of 1327.14 MPa was obtained from the SMAW face bend specimen, while the lowest value of 922.10 MPa was recorded for the GMAW root bend specimen. Furthermore, face-bend tests consistently yielded higher ?u values than root-bend tests for both welding methods, indicating superior mechanical resistance at the weld surface. Microstructural observations showed that SMAW welds exhibited coarser ferrite–pearlite grain structures due to higher heat input and slower cooling rates associated with flux-covered electrodes. In contrast, GMAW welds exhibited finer, more homogeneous microstructures due to lower heat input and faster cooling rates. These differences in microstructure significantly influenced the mechanical behaviour of the welded joints. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into selecting welding methods for ASTM A106 Grade B pipes, particularly in applications that require a balance between mechanical strength and microstructural stability

Abstract

Minyak jelantah merupakan limbah rumah tangga yang dapat mencemari lingkungan apabila dibuang sembarangan. Salah satu cara pemanfaatan limbah tersebut adalah dengan mengonversinya menjadi biodiesel melalui proses transesterifikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh perbandingan metanol terhadap karakteristik biodiesel yang dihasilkan dari minyak jelantah. Rasio metanol yang digunakan adalah 30:70, 40:60, dan 50:50 (v/v), dengan penambahan katalis basa KOH sebesar 1% dan suhu reaksi dijaga pada 60 °C. Parameter yang dianalisis mencakup viskositas kinematik, titik nyala, bilangan asam, dan densitas, yang seluruhnya diuji pada suhu 40 °C dan dibandingkan dengan standar kualitas bahan bakar ASTM D6751 dan EN 14214. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rasio metanol 50:50 menghasilkan biodiesel dengan kualitas paling unggul, dengan viskositas 3,75 mm²/s, flash point 109,2 °C, bilangan asam 0,34 mgKOH/g dan densitas sebesar 881 kg/m³. Dengan demikian, rasio tersebut dianggap paling optimal untuk menghasilkan biodiesel berbahan minyak jelantah yang memenuhi standar kualitas bahan bakar internasional, sehingga layak digunakan secara luas dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Poultry animals such as chickens incubate their eggs in three weeks to hatch their eggs, which sometimes the egg yields are not optimal so that a poultry egg incubator and its system are needed to optimize the results of hatching in which this built-in incubator with a capacity of 300 eggs with a rack system that rotates automatically based on Arduino Uno, using a digital temperature and hygrometer sensor so that the temperature can be set at 38-39 0C and the humidity can be set at 55-70% according to the egg hatching temperature and humidity, and from the test results obtained, the number of eggs that do not hatch and hatch both that hatch normally, defective, and die, the research conducted, for chicken eggs, which originally amounted to 300 eggs to be hatched, 291 eggs that hatched well, 5 defective eggs, and 3 eggs that died and 1 egg that does not have any embryos, and the result that this chicken egg incubator machine is capable of hatching eggs 97%.
