Abstract

Latar belakang masalah pada penelitian ini adalah kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMP masih rendah. Berdasarkan hasil tes kemampuan penalaran matematis yang dilakukan peneliti di sekolah yang akan diteliti menunjukan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis masih rendah. Tidak sedikit siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam menjawab soal penalaran matematis, seperti: kurangnya penguasaan konsep atau materi prasyarat, masih kurang tepat untuk merencanakan atau memberikan solusi karena siswa tidak memahami permasalahan yang disajikan, siswa tidak dapat menyelesaikan masalah dengan benar karena kesalahan dalam menafsirkan pertanyaan, ketika melakukan perhitungan siswa kurang teliti dalam melakukan proses yang mereka gunakan untuk menyelesaikan masalah, yang masih belum sepenuhnya benar. Hal ini diakibatkan oleh kurangnya kemampuan memahami permasalahan dan kemudian merencanakan atau mengusulkan solusi yang diterapkan. Dari berbagai literatur, kajian pustaka dan penelitian yang dilakukan sebelumnya, diprediksi bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual melalui model problem based learning dapat membantu siswa dalam memperbaiki kemampuan penalaran matematis yang masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa antara yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual melalui model problem based learning dengan yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Banjar. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII-F sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-H sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa soal tes kemampuan penalaran matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa antara yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual melalui model problem based learning dengan yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Penerapan pendekatan kontekstual melalui model problem based learning memunculkan inovasi baru untuk memecahkan masalah dalam proses pembelajaran yang sedang berlangsung. Penerapan pendekatan kontekstual melalui model problem based learning menumbuhkan rasa percaya diri siswa agar ikut terlibat menyampaikan pendapatnya.

Abstract

The study focuses on the importance of work skills for students at Agribusiness Vocational High Schools in meeting the demands of 21st-century competencies. It explores how the STEAM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, Health) approach can assist in developing these work skills. The research aims to assess students' grasp of the STEAM-H concept and to identify the work skills they acquire through learning that incorporates the STEAM-H approach. This investigation adopts a case study design involving 16 eleventh-grade students from the Agribusiness Vocational High School for Agricultural Product Processing in Ciamis Regency. Data was gathered through initial and final tests to gauge the students' understanding of STEAM-H, as well as through observations and interviews conducted while the students were engaged in a project on chicken wonton processing to evaluate their work skills. The results indicated a significant improvement in students' comprehension of the STEAMH concept after participating in the learning process. This increased understanding corresponded with the students' work skills, as evidenced by their successful completion of the chicken wonton processing project. The study concludes that the STEAM-H approach holds substantial potential for enhancing students' understanding of mathematics, food security, science, health, and technology concepts relevant to the agribusiness sector while also fostering the development of essential work skills required in the workplace. Wonton production requires a strong interdisciplinary approach. Mathematics, especially computational thinking skills, are crucial in designing an efficient and effective production process. The implication of this study underscores the importance of integrating the STEAM-H approach into the curriculum of Agribusiness Vocational High Schools, thereby preparing students to become competent graduates equipped to confront challenges in the era of Industry 4.0.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi perencanaan pembelajaran berbasis proyek hidroponik bagi peserta didik SMK Agribisnis dengan konsentrasi keahlian Agribisnis Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura (ATPH) pada topik bangun ruang dimensi tiga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data yang terkumpul diperoleh dari analisis dokumen pembelajaran diantaranya: CP matematika tingkat lanjut fase F dan CP mata pelajaran ATPH fase F, PERMENDIKBUDRISTEK RI No. 16 Tahun 2022, Kurikulum 2013, dan Kurikulum merdeka kemudian wawancara terhadap guru matematika dan guru produktif pada salah satu SMK Agribisnis di Kabupaten Ciamis. Analisis data mengacu pada Miles yang disusun dalam 4 tahapan yaitu pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, serta menarik kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini merupakan deskripsi hasil rancangan kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis proyek hidroponik bagi peserta didik SMK Agribisnis dengan konsentrasi keahlian Agribisnis Tanaman Pangan dan Hortikultura (ATPH) pada topik bangun ruang dimensi tiga.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini yaitu pembelajaran matematika yang tidak efektif berdampak terhadap rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dan self efficacy siswa. Adapun tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran think pair share (TPS) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dan self efficacy siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuasi eksperimental dengan desain yang digunakan Non-equivalent PretestPosttest Control Grup Design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Baregbeg. Adapun sampel pada penelitian menggunakan 2 kelas yaitu kelas X IPA 1 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X IPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan angket self efficacy. Data yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji perbedaan dua rata-rata, dan effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dan self efficacy siswa antara kelas eksperimen yang menerapkan model pembelajaran think pair share (TPS) dengan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Hasil penelitian juga membuktikan bahwa model pembelajaran think pair share (TPS) berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dan self efficacy siswa.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is one of the sectors that makes a large contribution to labor absorption in Indonesia, however data shows a decline in the rate of labor absorption in the agricultural sector, especially among the younger generation. One effort to increase the number of young workers absorbed in the agricultural sector is through agricultural vocational school education which is expected to grow the interest of agricultural vocational school students to work in the agricultural sector in order to overcome the decline in farmer regeneration in Indonesia. The research objectives are to: (1) Identify the interest of agricultural vocational school students in agriculture to work in the agricultural sector, and (2) analyze the factors that influence agricultural vocational school students' interest in working in the agricultural sector. The research was carried out in September 2023 at one of the vocational schools specializing in agricultural skills in Ciamis Regency. The research sample consisted of 78 students who were determined using cluster random sampling. Agricultural vocational school students' interest in working in the agricultural sector was analyzed descriptively, while the factors that influenced agricultural vocational school students' interest in working in the agricultural sector were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show: (1) The majority of agricultural vocational school students who are interested in working in the agricultural sector are in the medium category, and (2) The social environment, community environment and social status have a significant influence on agricultural vocational school students' interest in working in the agricultural sector, while their parents' income has no significant influence.

Abstract

Learning innovations to support environmentally friendly behavior in Adiwiyata schools at the technical level are still complained of as difficult for teachers to implement. Integrated STEAM-H (science, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics, and health) is a learning approach that can be used by teachers to create innovative learning across subjects. This community service activity was carried out to assist sixth-grade Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Handapherang (equivalent to elementary school) teachers in designing, implementing, and assessing learning using an integrated STEAM-H approach. This mentoring method is carried out through the stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparatory stage is carried out through focus group discussions to build learning tools and prepare tools and materials as learning media. The implementation stage is the implementation of the planning stage. Evaluation stage of the entire series of activities. Assistance produces teaching modules across subjects, namely mathematics, and science, building hydroponic project-based learning, providing meaningful learning for students that integrates agriculture, science, mathematics, technology, engineering, and health in a hydroponic vegetable cultivation project. The results of this assistance become a reference for innovative learning at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Handapherang to be further developed to support environmentally friendly behavior at Adiwiyata schools.

Abstract

Early childhood education is an important period in a child's development. During this time, children are curious and enjoy learning through play. This is the perfect opportunity to impart various knowledge and skills, including English, science and mathematics. The Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) in Adiwiyata schools can be an effective medium to improve the English, science and maths literacy of early childhood students. P2L provides a contextual and fun learning space for students to learn about various things such as plants and the environment. This community service activity was aimed to 1) Provide field learning experiences through plant media; 2) Improve English literacy skills through contextualised plant media integrated with learning; 3) Raise awareness among RA Miftahussalam students about eating vegetables that can be grown on limited land; 4) Raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment; 5) Support Adiwiyata schools in achieving their goal which  was encouraging the creation of knowledge and awareness among school members in environmental protection efforts through the environmental care and culture movement at school. This activity was carried out using the mentoring method. The team assisted RA Miftahussalam students and teachers in learning how to plant on limited land, learn English, science and basic mathematics with plant media and use the results. The result of this community service gave students and teachers experience of good practices from P2L activities by planting and eating vegetables grown around them. The results of this assistance become a reference for innovative learning at the RA Miftahussalam to be further developed to support environmentally friendly behavior at Adiwiyata schools.

Abstract

This community service initiative was aimed at enhancing the soft skills of students at the State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Rajadesa, Indonesia by using artificial intelligence. The program was attended by 27 students specializing in accounting. The mentoring process began with coordinating with partners to determine the timing and location of the research, prepare activity guidebooks, and create assessment tools to measure the improvement in soft skills before and after the mentoring. The mentoring included introducing ChatGPT as an artificial intelligence tool for solving mathematical problems. The soft skills developed for students included critical thinking, creativity, communication, cooperation, adaptability, problem-solving, problem identification, and independent learning. Based on the pre-and post-mentoring assessments, 67% of students had high soft skills, 29% were at a moderate level, and 4% were at a low level. On average, students could use ChatGPT to comprehend concepts and understand mathematical problem-solving steps. This community service positively impacted mathematics students at SMK Negeri 1 Rajadesa for further utilization of artificial intelligence by students in mathematics learning. A follow-up assessment to track the long-term effects of the program on the students’ performances, career prospects, and overall well-being needs to be done.

Abstract

STEAM-H in Turmeric-Tamarind Processing: Paving the Way for Mathematical Literacy in Agribusiness Vocational High Schools.  Objective: This study aims to explore the application of the STEAM-H (science, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics, and health) approach in developing mathematical literacy in the context of turmeric-tamarind beverage processing in vocational high school students. This study also seeks to identify relevant mathematical content for the curriculum. Methods: An exploratory case study was conducted with 12 students from the Agribusiness Concentration of Agricultural Product Processing. Data were collected through worksheets, pre-tests and post-tests, direct observations, and interviews. Observations and interviews focused on analyzing students' mathematical reasoning and problem-solving processes during the practical application of these concepts. Thematic data analysis was used to identify students' STEAM-H understanding and work skills, with a particular focus on how mathematical literacy was demonstrated. Findings: This study revealed that integrating STEAM-H into the turmeric-tamarind beverage processing project improved students' understanding across disciplines. Students demonstrated the ability to understand meaning, adaptive thinking, social intelligence, and transdisciplinarity. Specifically, students effectively applied mathematical concepts in practical scenarios, demonstrating increased mathematical literacy through their ability to calculate ingredient proportions, manage costs, and predict profits. They also demonstrated an increased ability to interpret and apply mathematical reasoning in real-world contexts, such as adjusting recipes and analyzing sales data. However, there were challenges in integrating technology and engineering, particularly in the agricultural context. Conclusion: The STEAM-H approach is effective in developing mathematical literacy and practical skills in vocational education. This study highlights the importance of contextualizing mathematics education and integrating real-world applications to enhance students’ understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Future research should explore strategies to further enhance mathematical literacy in STEAM-H contexts, particularly in addressing challenges associated with integrating technology and engineering, and to investigate the long-term impact of this approach on students’ mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Keywords: agribusiness, mathematical literacy, STEAM-H, turmeric-tamarind drink processing, work skill.

Abstract

The increasing boundaries of agriculture and health disciplines in STEM to STEAM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, and Health) is an opportunity for the world of education to expand integration between disciplines for solving increasingly challenging and complex problems. The Agricultural Product Processing Program, one of the spectrums of vocational education in Indonesia that focuses on agriculture, is located in the STEAM-H area. Therefore, this study aims to explore cross-subject connections, essential concepts, and teacher beliefs to implement integrated learning. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews and documents. Participants were teachers at SMK Agrotechnology Processing Agricultural Products in Ciamis, Indonesia. Descriptive analysis was carried out on the standard subject matter of agribusiness, mathematics, and science to obtain an overview of interdisciplinary connections in STEAM-H and the essential concepts within it. The findings of this study are that mathematics and science have a role in processing agricultural products subject, as indicated by the existence of conceptual connections in them. Concepts of processing products of agriculture become conceptual and contextual integrators of science and mathematics. The essential concepts of mathematics and science are either explicit or implicit, within or outside the secondary school curriculum set by the government. Based on the participants' beliefs, integrated STEAM-H in learning can be carried out at agribusiness vocational schools. This finding has implications for integrated STEAM-H learning planning that requires further research.
