Abstract

Background: In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, teaching and learning can be done by utilizing technology. One of the uses of technology in teaching and learning is the online learning model (in the network). One of the benefits of online learning can be accessed by anyone, regardless of time and space. Even though in online learning lecturers and students cannot meet face to face directly, this learning can still measure students' cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning outcomes. Affective and psychomotor learning outcomes are closely related to the character values of students. Methods: This research is a type of development research to develop online learning. In this study, adapting the 4D model (define, design, develop and disseminate). This research was conducted from June 2020 to August 2020 with the research location in Class B of the Physics History Course of the Physics Education Study Program at the Pattimura University. Results: This research shows that the development of online classroom tools with character education in the history of physics course is feasible, online class tools that contain character education are quite effective in activating students in the teaching and learning process and learning by using online learning with character education can improve student learning outcomes. Seen in the students' cognitive scores that increased from the initial test or pretest. Conclusion: The development of online classes with character education is suitable for application in the history of physics course.

Abstract

Improving the quality of learning is one of the main focuses in the field of education. One factor that plays a role in enhancing students' understanding is the use of interactive learning media. This media allows students to be more active in the learning process, especially in understanding abstract concepts. However, based on interviews with teachers at State Junior High School 1 Huamual Belakang, it was found that the utilization of interactive learning media at that school is still very minimal. Therefore, this Community Service Program (PKM) aims to train teachers in using PhET, Prezi, Seesaw, and Renderforest applications as interactive learning media that can improve student learning outcomes. The method used in this activity is direct instruction, which includes material presentation, demonstrations of application usage, simulations, and discussion and Q&A sessions. The evaluation was conducted through a questionnaire filled out by teachers and students after the training. The analysis results from the questionnaire indicate that the use of interactive learning media received positive feedback from both teachers and students. Teachers felt more assisted in delivering the material, while students found it easier to understand abstract concepts. Thus, this activity has a positive impact on enhancing teachers' skills in utilizing learning technology and helps students understand the material more effectively. This program is expected to be implemented sustainably in other schools to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

Self assessment is one form of assessment that can improve student learning outcomes. This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe in detail the achievement of competencies of prospective physics teacher students in analyzing concepts. The population in this study were physics education students and the samples were those who offered physics studies courses with a total of 30 students. Data collection was carried out for two months in a physics material study class. The research data will then be processed descriptively according to the research needs. The results showed that self-assessment was able to improve the ability of students to analyze concepts. This happens because self-assessment gives space to students to assess their abilities; know their strengths and weaknesses in analyzing concepts; find the root of their failure. Besides that model self assessment is a tool for students to communicate with lecturers to find solutions to their failures. Thus it can be concluded that self assessment is able to improve the competency of prospective physics teacher students in analyzing concepts well.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is an innovative approach aimed at improving instructional effectiveness by tailoring teaching methods and materials to meet students' individual needs. However, most science teachers in West Seram Regency have not yet implemented this approach optimally. Some teachers have even made mistakes in its application and face various significant challenges. This study aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by senior high school science teachers in implementing differentiated learning in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. The study involved 30 teachers from 6 senior high schools in the region and employed both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods using a survey design. Instruments included questionnaires to measure levels of difficulty and interviews to strengthen the data. The results revealed that four out of six schools had not yet implemented differentiated learning effectively, with an average difficulty level reaching 63.3%. The main difficulties included a lack of conceptual understanding, limited resources, and minimal training related to the new curriculum. These findings underscore the need to enhance teachers’ professional capacity through intensive training so that they can design more inclusive and adaptive learning strategies, ultimately improving the quality of education in West Seram Regency.

Abstract

Numeracy literacy is one of the six basic skills that are prerequisites and life skills in the 21st century, for numeracy literacy in Indonesia is still relatively low and far behind other countries for that, numeracy literacy skills are important in physics subjects because physics is inseparable from mathematics. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in numeracy literacy of SMA A Class XI IPA students in Physics. The approach in this study used a qualitative and quantitative approach with a descriptive analysis method. The sample in this study amounted to 26 students in class XI IPA-2 at SMA A, West Seram Regency. The instrument used was a test instrument consisting of 15 test questions that included numeracy literacy indicators on the material of material elasticity. The data analysis technique in this study was quantitative and qualitative data which were the main data of the study in the form of numeracy literacy skills before (pretest) and after (posttest). The results of the study showed that the average N-gain value was 0.45 and it was found that 2 students (8%) had numeracy literacy skills at the Skillful level, at the Provicient competency level there were 8 students (31%), at the basic competency level there were 13 students (50%), and at the competency level requiring special intervention there were 3 students (11%), so it can be concluded that there was an increase in the numeracy literacy skills of SMA A Class XI IPA-2 students in Physics with a low category and classified as a basic level.

Abstract

Science process skills are a fundamental component of physics education, as the discipline is inherently inseparable from the application of scientific procedures. This study aimed to describe the improvement of students’ science process skills through the implementation of a guided inquiry learning model in physics instruction. A mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative perspectives with descriptive analysis, was employed. The participants consisted of 29 students from grade XI Science-5 at Senior High School A in Ambon City. Data collection utilized both test and non-test instruments. The test instrument comprised 15 items designed to measure indicators of science process skills within the topic of material elasticity, while the non-test instrument was a questionnaire administered to evaluate students’ learning activities. Data analysis incorporated both quantitative and qualitative data, focusing on the comparison of science process skills before (pretest) and after (posttest) the intervention, complemented by learning activity assessments. The N-Gain analysis revealed a statistically significant improvement between pretest and posttest scores: 20.7% of students were categorized as high, 69% as moderate, and 10.3% as low. Learning activities related to identifying variables, formulating problems, developing hypotheses, and designing experiments were classified as active to highly active, while interpreting data was rated as moderately active. These findings demonstrate that the guided inquiry model effectively enhances science process skills in physics education.
