Abstract

Congenital disorders are a group of rare diseases and one of the health problems that are often overlooked. Congenital disorder needs to get more attention because it can affect the quality of life of the patient and the affected family. Because of its impact on the patient's quality of life in the future, early detection is needed to be able to provide early intervention and minimize long-term effects. Doctors who work in primary health facilities have an important role in early detection of congenital abnormalities in the community. They are one of the first health workers visited by the community when they have questions and complaints about certain diseases. Improvement and update of knowledge for health workers is very important as an effort to reduce mortality and morbidity caused by congenital abnormalities. This community service is carried out by holding training activities for early detection of congenital abnormalities aimed at doctors who work in primary health care facilities. Increased knowledge of community service participants showed significant results (p <0.0001), which is expected to play an active role in early detection of congenital abnormalities in the people of Probolinggo City in the future.

Abstract

Humans are social beings who always communicate with other individuals. The ear as a hearing organ has a big role in the communication process. Disorders of the ear will cause disturbances in individual communication and socialization with other individuals in society. Efforts to maintain and improve hearing health are the responsibility of all parties, especially doctors in primary health services as the spearhead of efforts to detect early public health, so that the quality of these doctors must be maintained. Pacitan, one of the districts in the province of East Java, has a mountainous area, that accessibility is quite difficult and remote. The availability of human resources and health infrastructure in Pacitan, which is quite limited, requires the ability to carry out early detection and management of hearing loss in the community. Therefore, community service activities were carried out in the form of training on early detection and management of hearing impairments for doctors throughout Pacitan district. The activity was attended by 47 general practitioners who were delegates from health facilities. The pre test results obtained an average value of 45.23 and the post test was 68.55. There is an increase in knowledge before and after the activity.

Abstract

Highlights:1. Spermatozoa can be affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to a disruption in spermatogenesis, leading to a decline in semen quality.2. This study compared the semen quality of COVID-19 survivors and those who had not been infected with COVID-19, specifically on the first spermatogenesis cycle following the confirmation of COVID-19 infection.3. This study is distinctive since no previous research in Indonesia has examined the semen quality parameters, such as the concentration, morphology, motility, and vitality of spermatozoa, in men who had a COVID-19 infection.   Abstract Semen quality in COVID-19 patients shows inconsistencies and variations. This research was conducted considering that health is the main capital for humans in Indonesia's development, as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 3. The purpose of this study was to compare the semen quality of COVID-19 survivors with non-COVID-19 men. This study was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. Subjects were selected through consecutive sampling of up to 26 men of childbearing age who met the predetermined criteria. Semen quality assessment using the WHO Semen Analysis Guide 6th edition. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS. The data normality test was carried out using the Saphiro-Wilk test. Then, the data were tested by t-test from two unpaired samples and by the Mann-Whitney test. Data from semen analysis based on COVID-19 severity were tested using variant analysis (One-way ANOVA) and the Kruskal Wallis test. The normal morphology of spermatozoa in COVID-19 survivors was significantly lower (p=0.011) compared to uninfected men. Other semen quality parameters did not differ significantly, although they were lower in COVID-19 survivors. The results of the analysis also showed no significant difference in semen parameters related to COVID-19 severity (p=0.488 for progressive motility; p=0.372 for non-progressive motility; p=0.325 for total motility; p=0.707 for immotility; p=0.412 for vitality; p=0.324 for concentration; and p=0.334 for normal morphology). The study provides evidence that COVID-19 survivors have a lower normal spermatozoa morphology compared to uninfected men. However, the motility, vitality, and concentration of spermatozoa did not differ significantly between the two groups.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a common cancer that causes a high mortality rate in women. There are risk factors for breast cancer that cannot be changed and those that can be changed. Diet plays an important role as a modifiable risk factor in preventing breast cancer. An unhealthy diet is one of the factors that trigger breast cancer. Conversely, a healthy diet can help reduce the risk of breast cancer. To determine the relationship between diet and breast cancer risk. Literature review with reference to articles through the online database, Pubmed, with the keywords diet AND dietary AND food AND nutrition AND breast cancer AND risk factor published in 2013-2023. Identified 11 articles showed an association between diet and breast cancer risk. Articles found that diets rich in fruits, vegetables, soy, cheese were associated with a reduced risk of breast cancer, whereas high consumption of dairy, sugar, fat, alcohol was associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. It was also found that diets rich in poultry, fish, eggs, fruit juice, milk (450 g/day), yogurt, whole grains, nuts, had no association with cancer risk. Diet has an effect on breast cancer.
