Abstract

Financial management literacy is a significant knowledge to assist individuals' financial condition. There are various factors influencing monetary management, including Information technology (IT). Thus, this study aims to investigate the role of IT affecting individual awareness of financial literacy in Indonesia with household characteristics as the controlling variable; the data are generated from the Indonesian Family Life Survey conducted in 2014. Probit and logit models signify that ITs and household characteristics positively and significantly affect financial literacy. In detail, handphones, televisions and newspapers, marital status, education level, and household income levels have a positive and significant influence on households' accessing financial knowledge. Furthermore, multinomial logit estimation used to compare three different levels of financial literacy (low, medium, and high), indicates that six out of nine variables significantly affect financial literacy at low level to high levels, whereas only four out of nine influence financial literacy from medium to a high level.

Abstract

This study investigates the key determinants of Islamic FinTech adoption by extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework to include Perceived Sharia Compliance and Perceived Innovativeness as antecedent variables. A quantitative approach was employed using survey data from 380 Islamic bank customers in Indonesia who had experience with Islamic FinTech services. The findings reveal that both antecedent variables positively influence Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness, confirming the relevance of both religious values and innovation perceptions in shaping users’ attitudes. Consistent with TAM, Perceived Ease of Use impacts Perceived Usefulness and Behavioral Intention, while Perceived Usefulness is a key driver of customers’ intention to utilize Islamic FinTech services. Additionally, Behavioral Intention significantly predicts Actual Adoption, which subsequently enhances Customers’ Satisfaction. Mediation analysis results further shows that Behavioral Intention partially mediates the relationships between TAM beliefs and Actual Adoption. This study has contributed to the growing body of Islamic banking literature by enriching the TAM framework with culturally relevant and innovation-oriented constructs. The findings provide important insights for Islamic banks and FinTech service providers, highlighting the needs to develop Shariacompliant, user-friendly, and technologically advanced services to drive customers’ adoption and satisfaction. Recommendations and future studies directions are also discussed.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of three key infrastructure variables—water facilities, home ownership, and educational infrastructure—on economic growth in East Java, Indonesia, from 2015 to 2018. Using panel data regression analysis, the study explores both short-term and long-term impacts of these variables on economic output, measured by GRDP at constant prices. The fixed effect model results indicate that water infrastructure positively and significantly influences economic growth, while educational infrastructure shows a positive but marginally significant effect. Conversely, home ownership infrastructure has a significant negative impact on GRDP. These findings suggest that while water and educational infrastructure are vital drivers of regional economic development, policies should address inefficiencies related to home ownership to ensure balanced growth. The study underscores the critical role of infrastructure investment in driving economic performance in developing regions

Abstract

As global tourism burgeons, destinations like Lombok, Indonesia, grapple with the imperative of sustainable development to balance economic growth with environmental and cultural preservation. This research navigates the multifaceted challenges and opportunities facing Lombok's tourism future, employing a dual-method approach of literature review and stakeholder interviews. The results unveil key challenges, including infrastructure deficiencies, environmental vulnerabilities, cultural dilution risks, community disparities, natural disaster susceptibility, and regulatory inadequacies. Drawing on insights from past research, the discussion elucidates sustainable strategies tailored to Lombok's context. Infrastructure development emerges as a linchpin for enhancing tourism appeal, while environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and community involvement strategies harmonize with global lessons. Natural disaster preparedness and regulatory frameworks find resonance in analogous destinations, offering Lombok a blueprint for resilience and responsible growth. The implications extend beyond Lombok, contributing a model for sustainable tourism development that integrates theory with practical insights, guiding stakeholders worldwide. This research illuminates a trajectory towards a future where the enchantment of Lombok is preserved and flourishes harmoniously in the dynamic and responsible milieu of global tourism.

Abstract

This study explores how tourism communities in Indonesia navigated disruption and recovery in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation across selected small island destinations. Thematic analysis revealed that the pandemic not only disrupted livelihoods but also reshaped perceptions of vulnerability and resilience. Respondents emphasized the severity of income loss, psychological distress, and the erosion of community ties during the crisis. However, recovery pathways were marked by adaptive strategies including diversification into agriculture and fisheries, increased reliance on domestic tourists, and the creative use of digital platforms for marketing and communication. Community solidarity, traditional knowledge, and cultural practices emerged as critical resources that supported both economic survival and social cohesion. The findings highlight that resilience in Indonesian tourism is constructed through a combination of adaptive innovation and socio-cultural embeddedness rather than through technical or policy frameworks alone. This study contributes to resilience theory by grounding it in the lived experiences of local stakeholders and offers practical insights for policymakers seeking to support sustainable and inclusive tourism recovery in post-crisis contexts.

Abstract

Coastal tourism in Indonesia faces growing challenges from climate change, particularly sea-level rise, coastal erosion, and unpredictable weather patterns. Lombok, an island increasingly positioned as a competitor to Bali in international tourism, is experiencing significant environmental pressures that directly affect local livelihoods and tourism development. This study explores how coastal communities in Lombok perceive and respond to climate change and coastal erosion within the tourism economy. Drawing on a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with fisherfolk, homestay owners, community leaders, and tourism workers, complemented by participant observation in coastal villages and tourism sites. The findings reveal that residents are acutely aware of environmental changes, describing shoreline retreat, saltwater intrusion, and declining fish stocks as everyday realities. While some view tourism as a pathway to adapt and diversify livelihoods, others fear that environmental degradation threatens both cultural identity and economic sustainability. Narratives also highlight the importance of local knowledge, spiritual beliefs, and community initiatives in shaping adaptive practices. By foregrounding community voices, the study contributes to critical debates on climate change and tourism, emphasizing that sustainable tourism in Lombok depends not only on infrastructural resilience but also on integrating local perspectives into adaptation strategies.
