Abstract

The evolution of clothing style always repetitive, one of them is genderless fashion. In Indonesia, especially in Jakarta, genderless clothing is not exposed too much to the public. This research aims to find the meaning of genderless fashion which often indentify as androgyne fashion and people’s preference for genderless fashion. This research collects data through a literature review as well as using questionnaires to find out the preferences of the Jakarta people towards genderless fashion. According to data analysis, it can be interpreted that genderless fashion is a designing process for clothing without any specific gender orientation. The difference lies in one’s physical character, the concept of androgyne fashion is for individuals who has male and female characteristic. The results of questionnaires regarding the preferences are most people know the meaning of genderless fashion and this phenomenon can be accepted in society. However, there are limits that cannot be accepted yet, such as clothes with feminine silhouette and very bright colors. This research intended to be able to rectify public confusion over understanding genderless fashion and androgyne fashion as well as a source of knowledge for designer who wants to know the limitation and acceptence rate for genderless fashion in Jakarta.

Abstract

The traditional Sunda Kasepuhan Ciptagelar community is considered to have achieved food independence because each citizen has sufficient food supplies for the next few years. This community has rules related to food processing, such as storing rice in leuit (barn), pounding rice in saung lisung, and cooking rice in goah (cooking area) according to the teachings of their ancestors (tatali paranti karuhun) and the rules that bind them (tilu sapamilu). The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between the use of leuit, saung lisung, and goah by the community with their success in managing food. So this study is an ethnographic study using qualitative methods with data obtained from field observations, interviews with indigenous experts and local residents, and literature data. The data were analyzed using the theory of the meaning of the environment and architecture of Amos Rapoport, where understanding the meaning of the environment is important so that the physical environment such as buildings can be identified functionally, the value and meaning of their existence. This theory is supported by Edward Relph's theory of space and distance, which states that space has a unique quality where space is able to "command", focus human intentions, experiences, and actions spatially. This study also uses the elements of tatali paranti karuhun and tilu sapamilu to understand the meaning of existence from the perspective of the Sundanese Kasepuhan Ciptagelar community. The results of the study found that each process of rice processing in leuit, saung lisung, and goah became a complete unit and had to be carried out according to ancestral teachings which could not be replaced by modern technology. So that the three buildings are integrated, where the rules for storing rice, calculating when and how much rice is pounded, and the amount of cooking rice are fixed rules. The existence of permanent regulations on paranti karuhun and tilu sapamilu makes leuit, saung lisung, and goah a social institution for the people of Kasepuhan Ciptagelar in terms of food. This makes this community very careful in calculating daily food needs so that it is not excess or lacking and with it this community is able to manage food properly to achieve food sovereignty.

Abstract

Tetapi konsep library as a place membawa perpustakaan menjadi sebuah tempat beraktivitas sosial baik akademik maupun non-akademik. Perpustakaan Pusat Universitas Indonesia merupakan salah satu perpustakaan akademik di Indonesia yang mengusung konsep library as a social place. Dengan konsep library as a place, Perpustakaan Pusat Universitas Indonesia diharapkan akan meningkatkan tingkat kenyamanan pengguna perpustakaan.

Abstract

Recent scholarly discussions have robustly endorsed collaborative learning in educational settings but also highlight a significant gap in understanding its effects, particularly in the design disciplines of Indonesian higher education. This research aims to address this gap by investigating the impact of collaborative learning, specifically structured to incorporate fundamental visual elements and principles (FVEVP), on students' comprehension and application in three-dimensional design—an essential area of design education. The study integrates an immersive design workshop with questionnaire surveys to evaluate student perceptions of the pedagogical strategy's effectiveness, advantages, and challenges. The findings demonstrate significant benefits of collaborative learning, including advanced learning processes, enhanced innovative thinking, elevated student confidence, and improved project efficiency, all attained cost-effectively. These benefits contribute to greater student satisfaction and superior educational results. Nonetheless, the study also highlights challenges, such as the unequal distribution of workloads and extended decision-making times, which emphasize the need for structured management strategies to bolster the educational effectiveness of collaborative learning. By providing critical insights into the intricate effects of collaborative learning in design education, the study offers valuable contributions to refining educational practices and directing future research.

Abstract

Pramuka is a scouting movement that teaches many values as the basis for building the character of Indonesia's best human resources. Quality human resources are human capital for developing the nation The scout movement's efforts are primarily concerned with environmental and societal issues. However, there is currently a drop in scouts' interest in activities that involve direct interaction with nature as a result of the younger generation's preoccupation with digital technology, particularly social media. This community service activity from the Institut Teknologi Bandung intends to provide a solution to the worry of diminishing interest in scouting by undertaking mangrove planting activities, which are expected to develop awareness and motivation in scouts to return to enjoying nature-based activities, while building the character of Scouts in their search for identity as a young generation of Indonesia. Mangrove planting activities are carried out with the enforcement scouts of SMK Darul 'Ulum and other community members in the Essential Economic Zone, Wringinputih village, Teluk Pangpang, Banyuwangi, because the sustainability of the mangrove forest ecosystem also requires attention. This activity is expected to increase the interest of Scouts to return to nature, and love the environment, while having an impact on improving the quality of life and welfare of the community.

Abstract

Padang restaurants with specialty food rendang represent the Minangkabau's eating culture. The effect of modernization and media social in the eating culture has indistinct the origin of Minangkabau's eating culture and leads to the uniformity of design, mostly its space and physical elements in the traditional building. Whereas in the roots, eating activities according to the Minangkabau custom still carried out, such as Makan Bajamba. It is essential to study the origin of Minangkabau space and eating culture before learning design development. The main problem is how the relationship between space and eating culture in the life cycle of Minangkabau society carried out at Rumah Gadang. By using a mix-method, a qualitative approach is a case study at Rumah Gadang Istana Rajo Alam Tuanku Disambah and quantitative approaches using space syntax analysis on the dimensions of connectivity and integrity. Data were from literature studies, interviews, and direct observations on how Rumah Gadang facilitated eating activities. The result shows that Rumah Gadang effectively assisted the eating culture in the life cycle of its people. The space configuration in the process of eating activities is following the roles of women and men based on a matrilineal kinship system. The seat position rules for Minangkabau men from the matrilineal kinship system divided Ruang Lepas into smaller areas, marked by walls, columns, and seprah clothes. All space of eating activities is a social space where interactions took place as a reflection of Minangkabau customs. The space syntax analysis clarifies the relationship between space and eating activities based on the matrilineal kinship system and the social interactions that occur with the space used. For future research, the space syntax analysis is useful as a perspective to learn the relationship between space and culture.
