Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) model invites students to be able and trained so that students in solving problems can improve students’ scientific literacy abilities. This research aims to determine the application of the problem basic learning (PBL) model to improve scientific literacy skills through practicum worksheet for grade XI students at Senior High School (SMA) 1 Samalanga. The subjects of this research were students in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Samalanga for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 31 students. Meanwhile, the type of research used is classroom action research. This research was conducted in two cycles. In the first cycle, the material discussed was acids and bases from various experts, and in the second cycle, the material discussed was acids and bases in daily life, including conducting practical work using worksheets. The research data collection instruments are observation, test with 5 multiple-choice questions, and questionnaires, all three of which are analyzed using a percentage test. The results of the analysis based on pretest and posttest score data using the PBL model increased from 53% to 75%. Apart from that, improvements can also be seen in the aspects of students’ attitudes and skills with an average score of 72% with “good” criteria. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of the problem based learning model through practicum worksheet can improve students’ scientific literacy skills. It is recommended that research using the Practicum-based PBL worksheet can be continued on other chemical materials.

Abstract

Melalui pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis digital, guru dapat mengelola tugas-tugas siswa secara lebih efektif dengan memanfaatkan berbagai platform kolaboratif. Media digital juga memungkinkan peserta didik untuk mengakses materi pembelajaran kapan pun dan dari lokasi mana pun. Beberapa media pembelajaran digital interaktif yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh guru antara lain: Genially, yang digunakan untuk menyusun presentasi interaktif; Google Sites, untuk membuat situs pembelajaran; Book Creator, untuk menyusun buku digital; Animation Studio, untuk membuat video animasi edukatif; serta Blogger, yang berfungsi sebagai platform untuk membagikan dan mempublikasikan materi pembelajaran kepada siswa. Adapun permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra dalam kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini, yaitu para guru yang tergabung dalam MGMP guru SD di Kabupaten Bireuen, meliputi: Masih banyak guru yang belum memanfaatkan media pembelajaran digital dalam proses mengajar dan Metode pembelajaran yang diterapkan masih cenderung monoton dan kurang inovatif karena keterbatasan pemanfaatan media digital. Solusi yang ditawarkan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut mencakup dua hal: Memberikan edukasi dan pelatihan mengenai penggunaan media pembelajaran digital kepada para guru MGMP SD Kabupaten Bireuen dan Melaksanakan praktik langsung serta pendampingan dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran digital. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan pengabdian, ditemukan bahwa mayoritas guru belum memanfaatkan media pembelajaran digital secara optimal. Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya guru yang baru pertama kali mengenal aplikasi-aplikasi yang dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Selain itu, sebagian besar guru masih menggunakan media pembelajaran konvensional karena keterbatasan pengetahuan dan kurangnya edukasi terkait pemanfaatan media digital dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

The development of a Science Process Skills Approach-based Laboratory Work Instruction has been conducted on Heat of Reaction topic. The subject of the research is the students of class XI in Senior High School 2 Tanjungpinang. The research aims to determine the feasibility of laboratory work instruction in terms of the validity and practicality categories. In the category of validity, there are five aspects studied including the aspects of content feasibility, grammar, presentation, graphical design, and science process skills. The validation results obtained from three validators was 92.46% (very valid category). In the practicality category was conducted on 40 students. In this category, there are seven aspects studied, namely aspects of observing, classifying, interpreting, determining hypotheses, applying, designing experiments, and communicating. The result shows that a science process skills approach-based laboratory work instruction is categorized in the practical criteria (82.28%).

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of implementing visual media based on local wisdom on students' learning outcomes at SMAN 6 Lhokseumawe. The background of this research is grounded in the importance of using instructional media that is contextual, engaging, and relevant to the students’ cultural environment. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design type. The research subjects consisted of students in class XI A as the experimental group and XI B as the control group, with 30 students in each class. The instruments used included pretest and posttest assessments to measure students’ learning outcomes, as well as observation sheets to support data on classroom activities. The analysis results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class (82.7) was higher than that of the control class (71.3). The t-test results indicated a significance value (p) of 0.003 0.05, which means there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, visual media based on local wisdom proved to be effective in enhancing students' learning outcomes. Instructional media that incorporates local cultural elements not only improves cognitive understanding but also strengthens students’ identity and character values. Accordingly, the use of local wisdom-based media is recommended to be integrated into the school learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of an integrated teaching module on the value of Kemalikussalehan based on Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) on the material of buffer solutions at SMA Negeri 5 Lhokseumawe. This approach is motivated by the need for chemistry learning that emphasizes cognitive aspects and builds students' character and identity through the integration of local values and technology. The type of research used is Educational Design Research (EDR) with the Plomp Development model. The research was conducted until the lecturer's validity test. Validity using Aiken's V formula produced 0.90 with a valid category. The study results showed that implementing this teaching module increased students' motivation, active involvement, and conceptual understanding of the material of buffer solutions. In addition, students showed an attitude of tolerance, cooperation, and concern for the environment as a reflection of religious values integrated into learning.

Abstract

This study addresses the need for interactive digital assessment tools in chemistry learning, where traditional evaluation often fails to engage students or provide immediate feedback. Wordwall and Plickers were selected as platforms because both are widely accessible and classroom-friendly, yet their effectiveness in formative evaluation has not been systematically compared. The purpose of this research was to develop and evaluate interactive assessments based on these two applications for high school chemistry. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was applied by combining the Borg & Gall and 4-D models. The process included four stages: (1) Define analyzing curriculum requirements and learner needs; (2) Design and construct interactive items and adapt them to Wordwall and Plickers; (3) Develop expert validation covering content accuracy, construct clarity, and usability, followed by revisions and limited trials; and (4) Disseminate large-scale implementation with 200 tenth-grade students from public high schools in Aceh Province. Instruments consisted of expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires (attractiveness, ease of use, and learning benefit), and pretest–posttest assessments. The results showed high validity (CVR = 0.90), positive student responses, and significant learning gains for both platforms (N-gain = 0.70 for Wordwall, 0.64 for Plickers). No significant difference was found between them (p = 0.252), indicating that both tools are valid, practical, and effective for formative assessment in chemistry learning.

Abstract

Desa Pande merupakan sentra industri tradisional pandai besi, yang didominasi oleh sektor pertanian dan peternakan. Pada saat pasca panen padi,  selalu ada sejumlah limbah atau residu yang tersisa seperti sekam dan jerami padi. Limbah ini biasanya dibuang atau dibakar begitu saja ditempat sehingga mengakibatkan masalah yang serius dalam pencemaran udara. Sesungguhnya tumpukan sekam dan jerami padi yang melimpah dan tersebar luas di Desa Pande adalah salah satu sumber utama biomassa dari limbah pertanian yang berpotensi untuk dijadikan bioarang. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi melalui pengolahan sekam padi menjadi bioarang. Produk bioarang dari limbah biomassa ini selanjutnya dapat diaplikasikan pada lahan pertanian sebagai soil amandement (memperbaiki kondisi biofisik tanah) sekaligus bermanfaat untuk carbon sequestration (mempertahankan konsentrasi gas CO2 di atmosfir agar tetap atau menurun) sehingga dapat menahan laju pemanasan global. Untuk mecapai target tersebut, maka Tim Pengabdian tidak hanya melakukan proses pelatihan pembuatan bioarang saja tetapi juga merancang dan mempabrikasi reaktor yang mudah dibuat dioperasikan oleh masyarakat. Metode pendekatan yang ditawarkan untuk menyelesaikan persoalan mitra adalah dalam bentuk pelatihan, pembinaan dan penendampingan pembuatan bioarang. Tahapan kegiatan ini diawali dengan survey ketersediaan bahan baku dan perlengkapan, merancang dan mempabrikasi alat, mengujicoba alat, memberikan penyuluhan/ bimbingan teknis terhadap mitra serta melakukan evaluasi secara menyeluruh terhadap pelaksanaan PkM dan hasil yang dicapai. Teknologi konversi limbah biomassa yang dipilih untuk PkM ini adalah teknologi kiln batch reactor. Hasil evaluasi dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya kesadaran masyarakat desa Pande untuk memanfaatkan limbah sekam padi dan biomassa lainnya untuk menjadi bioarang. Selain itu, masyarakat juga berhasil disadarkan akan pentingnya penggunaan bioarang untuk pembenah tanah.

Abstract

Studi ini mengulas pendampingan pendidikan di Sekolah Dasar Negeri 6 Kutablang, Kabupaten Bireuen, Aceh, yang bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan kurikulum 2013 dan mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran berorientasi Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dengan pendekatan saintifik. Metode pembelajaran ini dipilih sebagai respons terhadap tuntutan globalisasi dan Revolusi Industri 4.0, yang menekankan pentingnya pengembangan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) dan kecakapan abad 21 (4C). Model pembelajaran Discovery Learning diintegrasikan dengan pendekatan saintifik, literasi, dan penguatan pendidikan karakter (PPK) untuk meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Studi ini dilakukan selama tahun ajaran 2022-2023 dengan melibatkan siswa kelas V. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan pendidikan berorientasi HOTS dengan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan transfer pengetahuan, berpikir kritis, dan memecahkan masalah. Meskipun terdapat beberapa tantangan, seperti kekurangan kompetensi guru dalam membuat video pembelajaran, keseluruhan proses pendampingan mendapat respons positif dari guru dan pihak sekolah. Penerapan ini diharapkan dapat dilanjutkan secara berkelanjutan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah tersebut.

Abstract

One of the successes in the learning process can be seen from the learning outcomes of students. One of the factors that support this is external factors. External factors are factors that come from outside the learner, such as model variations. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of model variations in chemistry learning on chemistry learning outcomes in Lhokseumawe City. This research used a quantitative approach, the type of research was ex post facto, and the research design was regression. The population in this study was all students who were in Grade XI Science Senior High School, while the sampling technique in this study was cluster sampling, the sample taken was several students at Senior high schoolsenior high school. Questionnaire was used for data collection instruments. The questionnaire was created based on a Likert scale with 4 answers already available. Data testing using a non-parametric hypothesis test, namely an SPSS-assisted spearman rank correlation test. Based on the hypothesis test, a significant value model variation is obtained from 0.028 < 0.05. It can be concluded that there was a significant influence between the variations of model in chemistry learning on the results of learning chemistry.

Abstract

This study aims to produce android-based interactive multimedia on colloidal system chemistry material in high school that is suitable for use, as well as to find out student responses regarding the development of android-based interactive multimedia on colloid system material in high school. The method used in this study is research and development (Research and Development) 4D model (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). In this case, researchers only carry out research from up to stage three (Develop). The subjects used were 20 students who were taken randomly. The research instruments used included validation sheets, feasibility questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The validation results by experts show that the developed interactive multimedia is feasible to use with an average validation score of material experts reaching 84.57%, media experts 90.83%, eligibility by educators 90.37% and student responses of 89.53% . The results obtained from the validators, educators, and students indicate that this interactive multimedia is feasible for use in colloidal chemistry learning.
