Abstract

The concept of restorative justice is explored as an alternative approach to resolving conservation violations caused by ignorance, as demonstrated in the case of I Nyoman Sukena in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the potential for restorative justice to address such cases more humanely and effectively. A normative juridical method is applied, focusing on legal regulations and case analysis related to wildlife conservation. The findings indicate that restorative justice, emphasizing dialogue and education, can prevent recurrence and foster public awareness about protected species without imposing strict criminal sanctions. This approach, which aligns with Indonesian societal values, can reduce the judicial burden and support conservation goals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze law enforcement against environmental crimes through a case study of forest destruction in Kalimantan. This article is a library research using a qualitative approach. The methodology employed is normative legal research presented in a descriptive-analytical manner. The findings reveal that forest destruction in Kalimantan constitutes a systematic and massive environmental crime, yet it has not been met with firm legal enforcement. Obstacles such as weak law enforcement agencies, overlapping authorities, and low public awareness have caused environmental law to lose its coercive power and fail to create a deterrent effect. Therefore, criminal law enforcement must be positioned as a long-term and progressive strategy to achieve sustainable development and ecological justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of databases at State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in supporting the accreditation of study programs. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, employing data collection methods such as interviews, observations, and documentation. Data were obtained from several PTKIN institutions in the Java region, including UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, and IAIN Pekalongan. The findings reveal that database management plays a crucial role in enhancing the accreditation scores of study programs by providing valid and relevant data. Strategic policies, such as strengthening human resources, implementing independent academic information systems, and conducting accreditation simulations by Quality Assurance Institutions, have proven effective in preparing study programs for assessment by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The study also highlights challenges, such as limited human resources and inconsistencies in reporting data, which can be addressed through technological innovations and continuous training. This research underscores the importance of integrated database management in supporting the quality of higher education at PTKIN.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) as an Islamic microfinance institution in eliminating loan shark practices in communities, particularly in Java and Sumatra. Loan shark practices persist due to the ease and speed of loan disbursement, despite the high interest rates that entrap small communities in difficult-to-escape debt cycles. BMT offers a fair and interest-free Islamic financing solution based on profit-sharing principles and a more inclusive approach. This study discusses BMT’s financing strategies, such as lenient requirements, fast processing, and financial education programs designed to compete with loan sharks. The main findings indicate that BMT plays a significant role in providing fairer financing access to small communities and helping reduce their dependence on loan sharks. However, this study also reveals several challenges BMT faces, such as limited capital, strict regulations, and low financial literacy among the public. These challenges hinder BMT's ability to effectively compete with loan sharks in terms of speed and accessibility. The results of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening BMT’s capital, developing human resources, and innovating Islamic financing products so that BMT can play a more prominent role in eradicating loan shark practices in the community. With the right strategy and support from various stakeholders, BMT has great potential to continue growing as a more equitable and empowering financing solution.
