Abstract

Studi ini mengeksplorasi strategi efektif untuk melaksanakan lokakarya menulis yang bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis paragraf bagi mahasiswa jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Mengingat peran penting kemampuan menulis yang kuat dalam keberhasilan akademik dan profesional, lokakarya ini menggabungkan berbagai teknik pedagogis, termasuk pelajaran terstruktur tentang struktur paragraf, sesi umpan balik dari teman sejawat, dan penggunaan alat bantu menulis berbasis teknologi. Melalui aktivitas interaktif, para mahasiswa terlibat dalam proses brainstorming, menulis draf, dan merevisi paragraf, yang mendorong terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang kolaboratif. Lokakarya ini menekankan pentingnya umpan balik konstruktif dan refleksi diri, yang memungkinkan mahasiswa mengidentifikasi dan mengatasi tantangan dalam menulis mereka. Hasil awal menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kepercayaan diri dan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memberikan tinjauan komprehensif tentang desain, pelaksanaan, dan hasil dari lokakarya tersebut, sehingga memberikan wawasan berharga bagi bidang pendidikan bahasa. Kata Kunci: Lokakarya Menulis, Pengembangan Paragraf, Tingkat Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris, Umpan Balik Teman                                                             Abstract: This study explores effective strategies for conducting writing workshops aimed at enhancing the paragraph writing skills of English major students. Given the critical role that strong writing abilities play in academic and professional success, the workshop incorporates a variety of pedagogical techniques, including structured lessons on paragraph structure, peer feedback sessions, and the use of technology-assisted writing tools. Through interactive activities, students engage in brainstorming, drafting, and revising paragraphs, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The workshop emphasizes the importance of constructive feedback and self-reflection, allowing students to identify and address their writing challenges. Preliminary results indicate significant improvements in students' writing confidence and proficiency. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the workshop's design, implementation, and outcomes, contributing valuable insights to the field of language education. Abstract

The increasing popularity of online gaming, particularly among children aged 6-11 years old, has raised concerns regarding its potential impact on various aspects of child languange acquisition, including language acquisition. The studied aim to provide an understanding of the relationship between gaming activities and the language learning process. In particular, to provide insight into the potential impact, both positive and negative, of Free Fire online games on children's language acquisition. This research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used observation method, listening method with basic recording/tapping techniques, and note taking method. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. the results of the discussion of this research show some positive and negative findings. On the positive side, the children learned English expressions commonly used in the gaming environment, such as “Gloo wall”, “Log-in”, “Bot”, “Low bat”, “Top-up”, “Help”, “Knock”, “By one”, “Lag”, “Done”, “War”, “Jump shot”, “Noob”, “Cheater”, “Damage”, “Fine”, “Join”. They also learn vocabulary in the types of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs that are directly related to the mechanics and concepts in the Free Fire game. On the negative side, there is exposure to coarse language or swearing in Javanese, such as “asu” and “telek”, which can affect children's language development and behavior. In addition, the emergence of terms such as “noob” and “cheater” may indicate that children are learning unethical behavior in a gaming context.It can be concluded that Free fire online game gave effect on languange acquisition of children 6-11 years old.

Abstract

Sekolah penugasan yang menjadi sasaran Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 5 adalah SD N. 4 Singkam, Kecamatan Sianjurmula-mula, Kabupaten Samosir, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Tujuan  dari  kegiatan  Pengabdian  ini  adalah  untuk  mengimplementasikan gerakan literasi dan numerasi hasil dari kegiatan  Kampus  Mengajar  angkatan  5  pada  tahun  2023  yaitu    pelatihan kegiatan  literasi  dan numerasi  kepadaguru-guruSD Negeri4  SINGKAM kabupaten   Samosir Sumatera   Utara   dalam meningkatkan  pengetahuan  seluruh siswa/I.  Dari Observasi  dilaksanakan  secara  langsungoleh  mahasiswayang melaksanakan Kampus Mengajar dibutuhkan  sekolah meningkatkan literasi dan numerasi di sekolah baik  dalam  aspek  pembelajaran,  adaptasi  teknologi,  dan  sebagainya. Sekolah  yang  menjadi  sasaran tempat  penugasan  mahasiswa  kampus  mengajar  adalah  sekolah-sekolah  yang  berada  di  daerah  3T dengan akreditas B maupun C tetapi sekolah sasaran di kampus mengajar 5 ini hanya sebatas SD dan juga  SMP.Pada  penugasan  kampusmengajar  kali  ini,  mahasiswa  berkesempatan  untuk  melakukan observasi di SDN 4 Singkam. Metode  yang  dilaksanakan  dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari observasi,   perencanaan,   persiapan,   tindakan,      refleksi   dan   evaluasi   terhadap      workshop  pengembangan  pembelajaran media belajar.Hasil  dari  kegiatan pengabdian  masyarakat  ini  yang  dilaksanakan  oleh  dosen-dosen  adalah  bahwa  guru-guru  mampu menguasai  teknoogi  seta  dapat  mengaplikasikannya      dalam   penyampaian   materi-materi pembelajaradikelas.  Kemudian  meningkatakan wawasantent pentingnya media   pembelajaran    yang    berbasis  sisteminformasi  dan  teknologi.  Guru-guru  mampu  mendesain  materi-materi,  tugas  peserta  didik melalui media.

Abstract

This study aims to observe the process and outcomes of writing skill assessment among fourth-grade students at SD Swasta Latihan 1 YP HKBP PEMATANG SIANTAR. The background of this observation is the students’ limited ability to construct grammatically correct and structured English sentences. The teaching method used was sentence building, a technique where students are guided to form complete sentences from scrambled words provided by the teacher. This method was chosen as it is suitable for elementary-level students who are still developing basic sentence construction skills in English. The participants of this observation were all fourth-grade students. Data were collected through classroom observation, student worksheets, and reflective teacher notes. The teaching activity was conducted in stages, starting from the introduction of simple sentence patterns (Subject + Verb + Object), continued with guided sentence construction exercises, and concluded with individual writing tasks as evaluation. The observation results showed that most students demonstrated noticeable improvement in understanding sentence structure and exhibited greater confidence in writing short English sentences. Although minor errors in grammar and spelling were still present, the sentence building method proved to be effective in supporting students’ writing development. Therefore, it is recommended that this method be applied consistently in elementary-level writing instruction, especially in the context of sentence construction activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the interactive learning model on the German writing skills of the eleventh-grade science students at Taman Madya (Private Senior High School) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. This research is quantitative in nature, employing a Pre-Experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research instrument used was an essay test consisting of one question. The results of the data analysis showed that the average Pretest score was 43, while the average Posttest score was 87. The research sample consisted of class XI-2 with 35 students. Based on hypothesis testing using the T-test and N-Gain test, the T-test results showed that the calculated t-value was 25.060, while the t-table value with df = 34 at a significance level of 0.05 was 1.691. Since t-calculated > t-table (25.060 > 1.691), H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Furthermore, the N-Gain percentage score was 73.57%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the interactive learning model has a significant effect on the German writing skills of the eleventh-grade science students at Taman Madya (Private Senior High School) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar
