Abstract

This article explores the importance of a School Journalism Training program aimed at nurturing young creative and critical journalists. In an era where media plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion, it is essential to equip the younger generation with the skills needed to analyze, report, and create content with integrity and critical thought. This training focuses on developing creativity, critical thinking, and ethical journalism practices among students. By engaging in practical exercises and collaborative projects, participants will learn the core principles of journalism, including research, writing, editing, and multimedia production. The training encourages students to approach stories from diverse perspectives, fostering a sense of responsibility and social awareness. The objective is not only to enhance their journalistic skills but also to cultivate a new generation of journalists who are both innovative and thoughtful in their work. This initiative ultimately contributes to the growth of an informed society, prepared to face the challenges of an ever-evolving media landscape.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan memperkuat karakter wirausaha mahasiswa melalui penerapan konsep Customer Relationship Management (CRM) berbasis komunikasi Islami dalam konteks usaha online di lingkungan Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Negeri (STAIN) Mandailing Natal. Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kesadaran mahasiswa pelaku usaha digital terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan hubungan pelanggan yang tidak hanya efektif secara teknis, tetapi juga berlandaskan nilai-nilai etika dan spiritual Islam. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan service learning yang mengintegrasikan pelatihan konseptual CRM, praktik e-CRM, dan refleksi nilai-nilai Islami. Sebanyak 20 mahasiswa peserta dilibatkan dalam pelatihan, pendampingan teknis, serta evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test, ditambah wawancara mendalam untuk menilai perubahan pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap konsep CRM Islami sebesar 52% (dari 35% menjadi 87%). Sebanyak 16 mahasiswa (80%) berhasil mengimplementasikan sistem e-CRM sederhana dengan pendekatan komunikasi Islami yang terbukti memperkuat loyalitas pelanggan. Selain peningkatan kompetensi digital, kegiatan ini juga mendorong transformasi karakter peserta menjadi lebih profesional, komunikatif, dan berorientasi pelayanan. Sebagai bentuk keberlanjutan, terbentuk pula Komunitas Wirausaha Digital Islami (KWDI) di lingkungan STAIN Mandailing Natal. Integrasi CRM dengan komunikasi Islami terbukti efektif sebagai model pemberdayaan wirausaha muda berbasis nilai spiritual dalam ekosistem pendidikan tinggi keagamaan.

Abstract

Green Broadcasting telah muncul sebagai praktik penting dalam mendorong keberlanjutan lingkungan melalui konten media. Namun, di Indonesia, penerapan praktik penyiaran hijau masih berjalan lambat dan menghadapi berbagai tantangan, khususnya di kalangan lembaga penyiaran berskala kecil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kondisi terkini Penyiaran Hijau di Indonesia serta dampaknya terhadap kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed-methods, yang terdiri atas wawancara dengan para profesional media, analisis konten program-program bertema lingkungan, dan survei terhadap audiens. Penelitian dilakukan pada lembaga penyiaran besar maupun kecil, termasuk Green Radio 96.7 FM Pekanbaru, RCTI, dan Trans7. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyiaran hijau di Indonesia masih berada pada tahap awal, dengan variasi yang signifikan antar stasiun. Lembaga penyiaran besar menunjukkan kemajuan yang terbatas, sedangkan stasiun kecil seperti Green Radio lebih proaktif dalam menyelaraskan operasional mereka dengan prinsip keberlanjutan. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa penyiaran hijau memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat, khususnya di wilayah pedesaan. Selain itu, penelitian menyoroti sejumlah hambatan dalam penerapan praktik penyiaran hijau, seperti tingginya biaya awal, keterbatasan teknis, dan resistensi terhadap perubahan. Meskipun berbagai tantangan tersebut masih ada, penyiaran hijau memiliki potensi berkembang, terutama jika kebijakan serta insentif pemerintah mampu mendukung transisi menuju praktik media yang lebih ramah lingkungan.   Green Broadcasting has emerged as an important practice in promoting environmental sustainability through media content. In Indonesia, however, the adoption of green practices in broadcasting has been slow and faces several challenges, especially among smaller media outlets. This study aims to examine the current state of Green Broadcasting in Indonesia and its impact on public environmental awareness. A mixed-methods approach was employed, consisting of interviews with media professionals, content analysis of environmental programming, and surveys of audience members. The research was conducted across both large and small media stations, including Green Radio 96.7 FM Pekanbaru, RCTI, and Trans7. The study found that Green Broadcasting in Indonesia is still in its nascent stages, with significant variations across stations. Larger broadcasters have made limited progress, while smaller stations like Green Radio have been more proactive in aligning their operations with sustainability. The research also found that Green Broadcasting had a positive impact on public environmental awareness, especially in rural areas. The research highlights several barriers to adopting Green Broadcasting practices, including high initial costs, technical limitations, and resistance to change. Despite these challenges, there is potential for growth, particularly if government policies and incentives support the transition to greener media practices.

Abstract

This study explores the institutional culture and communicative practices of campus-based Islamic broadcasting units, focusing on how they can be revitalized through a synergistic approach to da’wah. Traditional preaching methods, while religiously grounded, often fail to engage contemporary Muslim youth who prefer participatory and dialogic communication. Therefore, this study argues for an institutional refresh that integrates media literacy, creative collaboration, and intergenerational dialogue. Using a qualitative multi-case study approach, data was gathered through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory observation in three leading Islamic-based campuses across Indonesian universities. The analysis employed grounded theory techniques and was informed by dialogic communication models and participatory media frameworks. Findings indicate a strong disconnect between institutional norms and student communicators’ expectations. Units that permitted co-creation and interdisciplinary collaboration saw higher levels of engagement and relevance in their da’wah content. In contrast, rigid units experienced stagnation and disengagement. The research also reveals the importance of shifting from sermon-based approaches to conversational, issue-driven, and emotionally resonant storytelling. The study suggests a reframing of da’wah as a communicative practice rooted in mutual learning, cultural relevance, and organizational openness. By aligning Islamic values with adaptive media strategies, campus broadcasting units can become vibrant centers of youth-led spiritual discourse and ethical media production. Institutional change, however, requires both structural reform and a new mindset centered on trust, creativity, and pluralism.   Keywords: Campus Da’wah; Institutional Culture; Islamic Broadcasting; Participatory Communication; Youth Engagement

Abstract

This study examines the challenges and opportunities of developing halal tourism in Lake Toba, Indonesia, and provides recommendations to improve policies and facilities to better accommodate Muslim travellers. A qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on Lake Toba as the research setting. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including government officials, tourism industry actors, and Muslim tourists, as well as through direct field observations. Thematic analysis was used to identify key issues and development potentials related to halal tourism. The findings reveal that although most visitors to Lake Toba are Muslim, there is a significant lack of halal tourism facilities, including halal-certified restaurants, sharia-compliant accommodations, and halal slaughterhouses. Policy inconsistencies between local governments also hinder coherent halal tourism development. Nonetheless, support from institutions such as BPODT and the Simalungun Tourism Office demonstrates promising potential for improvement. Social resistance, political complexity, and infrastructure gaps remain key challenges. The study highlights the need for enhanced halal facilities, harmonized interregional policies, and community education on the benefits of halal tourism. Strengthened coordination between government bodies and the private sector is essential for sustainable development. This research provides new insights into halal tourism development in a multicultural, predominantly non-Muslim area, emphasizing the importance of stakeholder collaboration, policy alignment, and sociocultural sensitivity.
