Abstract

Abstract The high number of motor vehicle sales in Indonesia, which reached 94,067 units in 2023, can cause various problems such as congestion and accidents. In addition to causing casualties, traffic accidents also cause material losses in the form of damage to vehicles such as scratches or dents on car body panels. The damage can be repaired through the repainting process to restore it to its original condition. The quality of good painting results can be seen from the adhesion value and gloss value. The gloss value indicates the quality of the painting results that can improve the aesthetics of a vehicle. The Yunex Paint workshop located in Gesing Village, Temanggung, was chosen as a service partner because it is engaged in body repair and painting which every week is able to work on 2 units of cars with a total processing time of 4-6 days for repainting bumper panels and hoods. This workshop still faces many problems in the production process such as painting results that are less shiny because finishing is still done manually so that the number of cars being worked on has not increased causing insignificant business development. Overcoming these problems, the application of a rotary polisher machine is proposed which is expected to increase the efficiency of time and quality of painting results, thereby increasing the competitiveness and productivity of the Yunex Paint Workshop. This service involved 11 people including workshop workers. The implementation method includes lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice and mentoring, and data collection. The gloss measurement data obtained were 24.7 before finishing, 85.3 after manual finishing and 94.1 after finishing using a rotary polisher machine. From the data obtained, the rotary polisher machine can increase the gloss value of the painting finishing results. Keywords: painting quality; gloss value; rotary polisher machine.

Abstract

Inclusive education, a key priority of SDG 4, requires learning innovations that are accessible and engaging for all learners, including students with disabilities. In Indonesian inclusive schools, limited availability of adaptive learning technology remains a major barrier, particularly for students with mild intellectual disabilities who often struggle with practical competencies such as reading precision measuring tools. This study developed and evaluated a gamification-based mobile learning (m-learning) medium on automotive measurement tools (vernier calipers) tailored to the needs of students with mild intellectual disabilities through accessible design elements (preferred colors, readable fonts, simplified sentences, and adapted assessments). Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, the product was validated by one media expert and one material expert, and its effectiveness was examined through a one-group pretest–posttest design with 35 Grade 10 Automotive Engineering students at SMK Palapa Semarang. Expert validation results indicated that the media was very feasible, with scores of 85% (Display Design), 83% (Technical Quality), 88% (Visual Communication), and 90% (Media Attractiveness), while content feasibility was also very feasible, with 82% (Content Completeness), 87% (Content Accuracy), 84% (Presentation Cohesion), and 86% (Language Use). Student learning outcomes improved substantially, with mean scores increasing from 68.29 (pretest) to 88.86 (posttest), yielding a gain of 20.6 points and reduced score variability (SD from 10.43 to 6.31). These findings suggest that gamification-based m-learning designed using assistive technology principles is feasible and can enhance learning outcomes in inclusive vocational education contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

This research investigates the influence of activator spray quantity on the thickness and visual appearance of Water Transfer Printing (WTP) film coatings on Aluminium alloy 5052 surfaces. The study employed an experimental method, varying activator spray quantities at 2, 3, 4, and 5 times. Coating thickness was measured using a Coating Thickness Tester, while appearance was visually assessed by 10 experts based on surface cleanliness, substrate coverage, and pattern neatness. The results indicate a positive influence of activator spray quantity on both parameters. For coating thickness, increasing activator quantity consistently led to greater average film thickness, with a total increase of 63.06% from 2 to 5 sprays (averaging 17.81% per additional spray). Concurrently, the visual appearance improved across all criteria; surface cleanliness increased by an average of 32.62%, substrate coverage by 29.56%, and pattern neatness by 31.79% for each additional spray. The most drastic improvements in both thickness and appearance criteria were generally observed in the transition from lower to intermediate spray quantities, suggesting an optimal activator range for great WTP results.

Abstract

Occupational Health, Safety, Environment, and Industrial Work Culture learning in vocational schools is often constrained by limited interactive teaching materials, resulting in low student engagement and suboptimal learning outcomes. This condition highlights the urgent need for innovative digital learning resources that align with industrial demands and vocational student characteristics. This study aimed to design, develop, and evaluate the effectiveness of a K3LH E-Module for vocational education students. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the 4D development model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The research subjects were 60 tenth-grade students of the Automotive Engineering program at Vocational High School in Semarang. Effectiveness testing was conducted at the classroom scale using an experimental group and a control group. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. The results showed that the E-Module was highly feasible, with media expert validation reaching 89.5% and material expert validation 88.9%. Practicality testing indicated a very practical category with a score of 91.3%. Effectiveness analysis using N-Gain yielded a score of 58%, categorised as sufficiently effective. These findings demonstrate that the developed E-Module enhances student learning outcomes and promotes more active participation in K3LH learning. In conclusion, the K3LH E-Module is feasible, practical, and sufficiently effective for use as a digital learning resource in vocational education, with potential for further optimisation to improve learning gains.
