Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance students’ ability to write short stories through a reading-based approach at MTsN 2 Indragiri Hilir. The training was conducted on July 22, 2025, involving 17 students selected as class representatives to participate as literacy ambassadors. The method combined interactive teaching and practical exercises, beginning with a theoretical session on the concepts and techniques of short story writing, followed by practice using reading materials as sources of inspiration. After the presentation, participants were given three days to develop their story outlines, which were then evaluated based on intrinsic elements, creativity, plot coherence, and language use. The results indicated an improvement in students’ skills in transforming ideas from reading into well-structured and creative short stories. Six best works were selected as recognition and motivation for continued literacy development. This activity demonstrates that a reading-based writing approach is effective in fostering creative literacy, enriching vocabulary, and building students’ confidence.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of financial distress in construction companies during the period of escalating financial pressures from Q1 2021 to Q2 2025, focusing on the influence of the CR, DAR, and company size on financial distress, with ROA serving as an intervening variable representing profitability. A quantitative approach was applied using panel data from six construction firms publicly traded on the IDX, selected through purposive sampling. Panel data regression is used to test direct effects, and the Sobel method is applied to assess the mediating impact of ROA. The study results indicate that, individually, CR, DAR, and company size have an influence on ROA but are not significant. However, they collectively exhibit a significant impact when tested simultaneously. In the context of financial distress, the empirical results reveal that CR and company size positively and significantly impact financial distress. At the same time, DAR has a significant negative impact, and ROA also shows a positive and meaningful impact. Collectively, CR, DAR, company size, and ROA significantly affect the degree of financial distress. Such outcomes indicate that management must comprehensively monitor liquidity, leverage, firm size, and profitability to anticipate and minimize financial distress risks

Abstract

This study aims to explore and examine in depth the tourism attractions of Danau Ali, located in Mandau District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. Danau Ali is a man-made tourism destination that has gained popularity among the local community due to its serene atmosphere, making it suitable for relaxing activities. This research focuses on three main components of tourist attraction: what to see (visual attractions), what to do (activities that tourists can engage in), and what to buy (products or souvenirs available for purchase). Additionally, the study also analyzes the role of the site management, the availability of supporting facilities, visitor participation, and the challenges faced in managing the tourist area. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed in this study, with data collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with various sources, and documentation. Data analysis followed the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Danau Ali's main strength lies in its appealing artificial landscape and the variety of activities available to visitors, such as fishing, relaxing, jogging, and participating in community events. However, the shopping aspect or what to buy has not been fully developed due to the lack of souvenir shops or local specialty products. The management faces several challenges, including limited operational funds, inadequate maintenance of facilities, and low visitor awareness regarding cleanliness. Therefore, improvements in management, greater support from various stakeholders, and increased visitor education are needed to ensure the sustainability and quality of Danau Ali as a tourist destination.
