Abstract

The quality of the relationship between superiors, subordinates and colleagues is strongly influenced by organizational climate. Organizational climate is the meaning and interpretation of the experiences felt by employees while working in an organization. Organizational communication problems that occur repeatedly, the lack of communication between superiors and subordinates, and also conflicts at the employee level make the basis for researchers to conduct research and try to provide recommendations to improve conditions that occur within the Balittas organization. This research will focus on discussing the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates as well as colleagues in 2010-2019. This study aims to identify, describe, and analyze the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates, between co-workers for each period of each leader, as well as describe and analyze the implications of leadership communication styles on the quality of the relationship between leaders and subordinates and among colleagues. This research was conducted using the Action Research method with the aim of going to Balittas from 2010 to 2019. Departing from the constructivism paradigm, this study collected data using structured interviews and analyzed using the action research cycle from Coghland and Brannick. The results of this study indicate that the quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates, as well as co-workers is influenced by the leadership's communication style and communication climate . The quality of the relationship between superiors and subordinates, between colleagues in each period of each leader based on the LMX Theory is dominated by out group quality. This is because the relationship bond is only limited to a contractual bond. The leader's communication style has implications for the quality of organizational member relationships. Subsequent research can develop the application of LMX theory in other government work units and create efforts to build quality in-group relationships within Balittas.

Abstract

Komunitas Narasi merupakan wadah generasi muda untuk bergerak dan berdampak di bidang jurnalisme dan media massa. Komunitas Narasi merupakan bagian dari Narasi TV dan tersebar di 37 provinsi seluruh Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas boundary spanning bagi digital public relations Komunitas Narasi. Teori sistem dan konsep boundary spanning dijadikan pisau analisis dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian kualitatif dilakukan dengan paradigma konstruktivistik. Data yang didapat dari penelitian ini diperoleh menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan dengan perwakilan komunitas narasi di beberapa daerah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan aktivitas boundary spanning dalam pendekatan teori sistem. Hadirnya Komunitas Narasi membantu public relations @Narasi TV  mengetahui isu yang berpotensi mempengaruhi aktivitas organisasi, sehingga krisis dapat terhindarkan. Komunitas Narasi menjadi representasi isu di tiap daerah yang memudahkan public relations menyeleksi, menerima, dan menyampaikan informasi dari publik kepada organisasi. Lebih dari itu, Komunitas Narasi digunakan sebagai sarana monitor lingkungan dan sistem komunikasi dua arah. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sumber referensi bagi penelitian selanjutnya terkait penerapan aktivitas boundary spanning di era digital.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought major changes to communication patterns and social behavior, including in the realm of parenting. Social media platforms, notably YouTube, have become primary sources of parenting guidance for young parents in Indonesia, replacing traditional resources such as books and direct consultations. This study aims to describe the representation of gentle parenting, as conceptualized by Sarah Ockwell-Smith, in Nikita Willy’s YouTube content, using John Fiske’s semiotic analysis framework. A qualitative research method with a descriptive analytical approach was employed, with data collected through documentation of three most-viewed videos related to gentle parenting on the “Nikita Willy Official” YouTube channel. The analysis identified Fiske’s three levels of representation: reality, representation, and ideology. Findings indicate that gentle parenting is portrayed through gentle interactions, positive communication, and an emphasis on understanding children’s emotions, avoiding physical punishment and psychological pressure. Nikita Willy’s content exemplifies empathetic, respectful, and understanding parenting practices, with clear yet supportive boundaries, aligning with Sarah Ockwell-Smith’s gentle parenting principles. These findings are supported by a literature review of journal and non-journal sources, highlighting the role of digital media in shaping modern parenting interpretations. The study concludes that Nikita Willy’s representation of gentle parenting serves as a positive reference for young parents, promoting the adoption of humanistic parenting approaches in Indonesian society, which is predominantly characterized by authoritative parenting styles.

Abstract

Food MSMEs play an essential role in promoting local economic growth, including Bu Nurahayu's MSME in Karangpilang, Surabaya, which produces kerupuk samiler. However, to enhance competitiveness and ensure product safety, the implementation of Good Processed Food Production Practices (CPPOB) is required. This activity aimed to evaluate and assist in CPPOB implementation in the targeted MSME. The methods included survey, structured interview, field observation, and evaluation based on 12 of 18 CPPOB indicators. The results absence of handwashing facilities, protective gear usage, and packaging labels. Improvements were made by installing sanitation facilities, training on personal protective showed that most indicators were met, while several deficiencies were identified such as the equipment, providing measuring tools, preparing guidebooks, and labeling products. This program effectively improved the MSME owner's understanding of sanitation and production standards and upgraded production facilities. Therefore, the assistance successfully enhanced product quality, safety, and the MSMEs readiness to meet legal standards.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi employee relations sebagai strategi komunikasi internal dalam meningkatkan kinerja karyawan di perusahaan multinasional Nike Indonesia, khususnya pada sektor ritel di wilayah Jawa. secara sistematis melalui komunikasi dua arah yang terbuka, pelaksanaan kegiatan sosial internal yang memperkuat kohesi tim, penyediaan pelatihan dan pengembangan kompetensi, serta pemberian penghargaan dan pengakuan berbasis loyalitas serta kinerja. Seluruh praktik tersebut mampu membentuk hubungan kerja yang saling percaya, partisipatif, dan mendukung peningkatan kinerja secara individu maupun kolektif. Penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan teori employee relations (Ruslan) dan teori pertukaran sosial (Blau) yang menjelaskan bagaimana relasi kerja yang berbasis komunikasi timbal balik dan penghargaan sosial dapat mendorong motivasi dan produktivitas. Hasil penelitian ini tidak hanya memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi pengembangan strategi manajemen sumber daya manusia di industri ritel, tetapi juga memperkaya literatur komunikasi organisasi dalam konteks hubungan kerja modern. Abstract

Abstrak  Setiap orang dapat berkomunikasi, tetapi hanya sedikit yang dapat menyampaikan pesan secara efektif dan efisien di depan umum. Penting bagi siswa untuk mempersiapkan diri masuk ke dunia perkuliahan dengan memiliki kemampuan presentasi di depan kelas, tidak sekedar pasif dan off cam saat pembelajaran, serta mampu bersosialisasi dengan teman.Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ialah memberikan alih pengetahuan mitra hal pengetahuan tentang komunikasi efektif dan komunikasi interpersonal, meningkatkan kecakapan sosial mitra melalui komunikasi efektif berupa pelatihan presentasi yang interaktif di kelas, serta memberikan ruang bagi siswa membangun kepercayaan diri dan mengajak rekan berkenalan dan bercakap melalui games seru dan ice breaking. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara luring dari 30 siswa/I, pelatihan dilakukan dua kali, dengan materi yang berbeda. Pelatihan pertama adalah teknik komunikasi efektif selama 2 jam (teori dan praktik) yang diikuti 30 siswa kelompok berupa pelatihan presentasi di kelas, pelatihan dan ice breaking. Hasil observasi dan survei pelatihan menjelaskan 90% peserta puas dengan pelatihan “how to socialize and make friends in collage life”.Kata Kunci: Pelatihan, public speaking, SMAN 17 Surabaya, komunikasi efektif

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh public relations melalui media sosial terhadap pembentukan citra startup di Surabaya. Populasi dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari startup yang berlokasi di Surabaya. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 106 startup yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling dan purposive sampling. Untuk analisis data, penelitian ini menggunakan metode “Regresi Linier Sederhana” dengan bantuan software SPSS 27. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan public relations melalui media sosial mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pembentukan citra startup di Surabaya. Selain itu, analisis parsial juga menunjukkan bahwa public relations melalui media sosial mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap citra startup di Surabaya. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya peran media sosial dalam strategi public relations untuk meningkatkan citra perusahaan startup. Dengan demikian, para startup di Surabaya diharapkan dapat memaksimalkan penggunaan media sosial dalam aktivitas public relations sehingga membentuk citra yang positif.Kata kunci:  Citra, Public Relations, Startup

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pembentukan stigma negatif “kampung penadah” terhadap Desa Sukolilo, Pati, Jawa Tengah, melalui komentar pada video YouTube CNN Indonesia. Pendekatan analisis isi dilakukan untuk mengelompokkan komentar menjadi negatif, netral, dan pembelaan. Sebagian besar komentar mendukung stigma negatif, memperkuat stereotip kriminalitas terhadap desa tersebut. Penelitian ini mengacu pada teori kultivasi yang menjelaskan bagaimana media memengaruhi persepsi publik melalui narasi yang konsisten. Algoritma media sosial memperbesar visibiltas komentar emosional, yang selanjutnya memperkuat stigma. Dampaknya, warga Sukolilo mengalami diskriminasi dan pengucilan sosial, yang merugikan secara ekonomi dan sosial. Hasil penelitian ini menyoroti peran media digital dalam membentuk opini publik dan dampaknya terhadap wilayah atau komunitas lokal tertentu

Abstract

This community service activity aims to revitalize the Family Medicinal Plant Garden (TOGA) in Kampung Jamu, RW 01, Kedurus Subdistrict, Karang Pilang District, Surabaya City, as a medium for education, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. The revitalization was carried out through a participatory qualitative approach, in which the local community was actively involved in all stages of the activity from planning and implementation to evaluation. This initiative was motivated by the neglected condition of the TOGA garden, the lack of accessible information about the benefits of medicinal plants, and the low level of community involvement in its management. The methods used included field observation, semi-structured interviews with local micro and small business (UMKM) actors, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with residents on July 2, 3, and 5, 2025. The observation activities aimed to identify the current condition of the garden and assess its development potential. The interviews explored the types of plants used, their benefits, and challenges faced by residents. Meanwhile, the FGDs focused on determining plant arrangement patterns, assigning community roles, and formulating a revitalization strategy based on mutual cooperation (gotong royong). One key innovation resulting from this activity was the implementation of QR Codes on plant name boards, allowing visitors to access information about the medicinal benefits of each plant directly on-site. The outcomes of this community service include increased community engagement in garden management, improved physical conditions of the garden, and the expansion of its role as an environmental education tool. The use of QR Codes proved effective as both an educational medium and a way to introduce the benefits of TOGA to the wider community, especially the younger generation. Furthermore, the activity succeeded in strengthening the spirit of mutual cooperation, raising public awareness of the importance of preserving medicinal plants based on local wisdom, and providing a model for empowerment-based revitalization.

Abstract

The media industry in Indonesia is experiencing rapid growth, along with an increasing number of audiences from various groups, including children and parents. Children, as part of the audience, have different characteristics from other age groups. Providing child-friendly media is crucial. This study aims to examine the perceptions and views of media activists and parents regarding the existence and quality of child-friendly media in Indonesia. The method used in this study was a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with eight respondents, consisting of four media activists and four parents. Data analysis was conducted using the perspective of George Gerbner's Uses and Gratification Theory, as well as the Media Regulation theory of Sonia Livingstone and Peter Lunt. The results show that both media activists and parents believe that child-friendly media in Indonesia is currently still not optimal in meeting children's needs and interests. Available content is considered limited, less relevant to current developments, and does not fully support educational aspects or healthy entertainment for children. These findings emphasize the importance of collaboration between the media, government, and society to create stricter regulations and encourage the production of higher-quality content that is appropriate to the needs of children in today's digital era.
