Abstract

This research aimed to describe and identify the concept of Gus Dur's multicultural da’wah, the efforts and relevance to modern society. It used qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The data were collected through observation and documentation. The findings suggested three main concepts of Gus Dur's multicultural da'wah: Gus Dur's central values, his Islamic ideas, and his struggle for the indigenization of Islam. The da'wah covered three domains: cognitive, affective and psychomotor. The domains were then framed into various activities, such as lectures/speeches, writings, forums, and social actions. Besides, it affirmed the need of wisdom that da'wah is relevant to the conditions of modern society. The relevance of da’wah can lead to the effective and efficient interaction process. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai dakwah multikultural Gus Dur dan relevansinya bagi masyarakat modern. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan, dan mengenali konsep dakwah multikultural Gus Dur, upaya-upaya dakwah multikultural Gus Dur dan relevansinya bagi masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah obeservasi dan dokumentasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa dakwah multikultural Gus Dur mengacu pada tiga konsep utama, yakni nilai-nilai utama, gagasan keislaman, dan perjuangan pribumisasi Islam Gus Dur. Upaya-upaya dakwah multikultural Gus Dur ini mencakup tiga ranah, yakni ranah kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik. Upaya-upaya melalui tiga ranah tersebut kemudian dibingkai dalam berbagai kegiatan seperti ceramah/pidato, menulis, forum diskusi, dan aksi-aksi sosial. Dengan demikian, dibutuhkan kearifan agar dakwah relevan dengan kondisi masyarakat modern, sehingga pelaku dan penerima dakwah tersebut bisa memberi makna yang sama. Dalam hal ini, apa yang diidentifikasi oleh masyarakat modern bisa memasuki proses interaksi yang efektif dan efisien.

Abstract

Studies on ethical principles in contemporary Qur’anic exegesis hold significant potential for advancing contextual and socially relevant interpretations of the Qur’an. This research provides an in-depth analysis of Ahmad Hassan’s Tafsir Al-Furqan, focusing on the construction of the concept of salam (greeting of peace) and its implications for social ethics in contemporary Muslim communities. The primary aim of this study is to explore how salam is articulated not merely as a ritualized greeting but as an ethical principle emphasizing peace, moderation, and social responsibility. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach with thematic-conceptual analysis, examining Qur’anic verses related to salam, documenting Ahmad Hassan’s exegetical interpretations, and situating them within modern socio-religious contexts. Primary data were derived from Tafsir Al-Furqan, supported by secondary sources from global Qur’anic studies, Islamic ethics literature, and social research. Findings indicate that salam in Tafsir Al-Furqan functions as a moral instrument that fosters trust, social solidarity, and harmonious interactions, effectively linking Qur’anic principles with contemporary social practices. The main contribution of this study lies in presenting an exegetical framework that integrates Qur’anic moral guidance with modern social realities, thereby extending the horizon of Qur’anic interpretation toward a more interdisciplinary, dialogical, and socially transformative discourse.

Abstract

RINGKASAN Penelitian berjudul "Persepsi dan Pengalaman Siswa SMA dalam Menghadapi Konten Negatif dan Hoax di Media Sosial: Analisis Berbasis Etika Penyiaran Islam" bertujuan untuk menggali secara mendalam bagaimana siswa sekolah menengah atas (SMA) memahami dan berinteraksi dengan konten negatif serta hoaks di media sosial, dengan menganalisis respons mereka melalui lensa etika kepenyiaran Islam. Siswa SMA merupakan generasi yang sangat akrab dengan media digital, dengan rata-rata penggunaan media sosial lebih dari empat jam sehari, menjadikan platform ini sebagai bagian integral dari gaya hidup dan sumber informasi utama mereka. Namun, keterlibatan intensif ini juga mengekspos mereka pada berbagai risiko, termasuk penyebaran hoaks, ujaran kebencian, konten negatif, serta isu privasi dan keamanan data. Penelitian ini akan menjawab pertanyaan kunci mengenai bagaimana siswa SMA memandang prevalensi dan dampak konten negatif/hoaks terhadap kesejahteraan mereka. Data awal menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa (51%) merasa bebas mengunggah apa pun ke media sosial karena menganggapnya sebagai hiburan dengan akses mudah, yang mengindikasikan potensi kurangnya kesadaran akan tanggung jawab etis dan implikasi hukum (misalnya, UU ITE). Selain itu, ada kekhawatiran tentang kurangnya mekanisme penyaringan dan pemahaman kritis terhadap konten media. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini akan mengidentifikasi strategi yang digunakan siswa untuk mengatasi atau menyaring konten tersebut, dan menganalisis keselarasan strategi ini dengan pedoman etika Islam. Etika kepenyiaran Islam menekankan prinsip-prinsip seperti kebijaksanaan (hikmah), kebenaran (tabayyun), larangan fitnah, ghibah, dan namimah, serta pentingnya menggunakan teknologi untuk kebaikan (amar ma'ruf nahi munkar). Prinsip-prinsip ini sangat relevan dalam membimbing perilaku digital yang bertanggung jawab, termasuk memverifikasi informasi sebelum berbagi dan menghindari penyebaran kebohongan atau ujaran kebencian. Dengan menganalisis persepsi dan pengalaman siswa melalui kerangka etika Islam, penelitian ini berupaya memahami tidak hanya apa yang mereka lakukan, tetapi juga mengapa mereka melakukannya, serta bagaimana nilai-nilai agama dapat memperkuat literasi digital dan etika bermedia sosial di kalangan generasi muda.

Abstract

The escalating Israeli Palestinian conflict since October 2023 highlights the role of media in shaping public perception. Al Jazeera English utilizes YouTube to disseminate information globally, influencing opinions through a documentary video entitled "How Israel Won the West | The Big Picture." This study analyzes the discourse of terrorism carried out by Israel as a form of violation of international humanitarian law. This research employed an explora- tory qualitative approach, utilizing multimodal discourse analysis techniques. The selected documentary video serves as the unit of analysis due to its employment of various modes that influence the discourse directed at the audience. The results of this study indicate that the discourse in the documentary reflects violations of international humanitarian law com- mitted by Israel in the conflict with Palestine. The narrative and visuals presented highlight Israel's actions that are often justified, creating the impression of immunity from humanitar- ian law despite attacking civilians. Strong support from Western countries such as the United States further strengthens Israel's position and hinders the implementation of the law that should be carried out. This investigation advances the field of international media studies by illustrating how Al Jazeera utilized the YouTube platform to contest prevailing Western- backed narratives and to mobilize global public opinion regarding the conflict.

Abstract

Conception and harmonization of religious culture and traditions within multifaith families in three villages known as centers of religious moderation in Malang City. The background to this study arises from the complexity of urban life characterized by religious and cultural diversity, which demands harmonious management of differences within the family and community context. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of local documents as the primary data sources. The results show that multifaith families in the three villages are able to build harmony through several strategies: mutual respect for each member's religious practices, adapting traditions and rituals to be inclusive, and maintaining open communication between family members and neighbors. Furthermore, social interactions at the village level, such as joint celebrations, community activities, and support among residents, contribute to strengthening social cohesion and fostering values of tolerance. This research confirms that the harmonization of religious culture and traditions is not merely a normative concept, but a practice that can be realized through awareness, flexibility, and appreciation of differences. These findings contribute to the understanding of religious moderation at the local level and serve as a reference for developing an adaptive and harmonious model for managing multifaith family diversity.
