Abstract

Abstract

Background: Foreign ownership policy in Indonesian Banking has been regulated by the Government through Law Number 10 of 1998 concerning Banking. Through this law, the opportunity for foreign investors to own banking shares or establish banks in Indonesia is increasingly open. The strong foreign ownership of a bank has the potential to hinder the supervision process of the bank concerned and the practice of good governance, as well as disrupt financial system stability as a whole and threaten the economic resilience of the Indonesian state. Methods: The researcher conducted an analysis by Narrative Policy Framework (NPF) analysis and stakeholder analysis on the Minutes of Meeting on the Process of Amending Law Number 7 of 1992 to Law Number 10 of 1998 concerning Banking. This research is descriptive analytical on data obtained from the results of observations, interviews, documentation, and analysis of research subjects. Findings: The results of the study indicate that the opening of opportunities for foreign ownership in changing laws is a short-term solution provided by the government. Risk analysis has shown that the scale of the risk level of foreign ownership policy up to 99 percent is at the level of medium and high risk. Stakeholder analysis shows that the Government and Parliament are parties that have a large interest and strength in foreign ownership policies in the Indonesian banking sector. Conclusion: The Government and Parliament need to review the banking laws that have been used for 21 years. The findings highlight the need for a more balanced and strategic approach to foreign ownership policies to safeguard Indonesia's financial system stability and economic resilience. Novelty/Originality of this Article: This study contributes to the limited literature on foreign ownership policies in Indonesian banking by employing the NPF to reveal the hidden narratives and political dynamics behind the legislative process.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, has a high dependence on maritime transportation and port infrastructure to support economic and trade activities. However, the performance of maritime transportation and the development of port infrastructure still face various challenges, including low operational efficiency, limited investment, and unsynchronized regulations. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting maritime transportation performance and port infrastructure development in Indonesia using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach and the Least Square Dummy Variable (LSDV) method. The data used covers the period from 2011 to 2023, focusing on five major ports in Indonesia: Tanjung Priok, Tanjung Perak, Belawan, Makassar, and Balikpapan. The research findings indicate that port operational efficiency, maritime sector investment, and technology adoption have the most significant influence on maritime transportation performance. Meanwhile, port infrastructure development is primarily influenced by maritime sector investment and inter-port connectivity. Additionally, improvements in maritime transportation performance and port infrastructure have been proven to positively impact maritime economic growth. Therefore, strategic policies focusing on sustainable investment, operational efficiency enhancement, and technology integration are essential to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s maritime sector at the global level.

Abstract

ABSTRACT At the 26th annual United Nations climate change conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland, 197 countries succeeded in reaching an agreement to address the “Phase-down of Unabated Coal Power”, i.e. the gradual reduction of coal-fired power generation and to ends fossil fuel subsidies that are not in efficient. Its going with the policy of Indonesia Government, in the General Draft of National Energy (RUEN), they will limit coal production up to 400 million tons per year and the exports will be reduced gradually from year to year and will be stopped on 2046. In another hand, China and India's dependence on coal energy for power generation and industry is still very high. Both countries demanding will affect Indonesia's trade balance considering the proportion of Indonesia's coal exports is 71% compared to domestic consumption. To determine this effect, this study uses the Autoregression Vector (VAR) model with annual data from 2000 to 2021. The test results show that Indonesia's coal exports have an effect on the trade balance by 13.17% in terms of the total export value. International coal price will have a positive impact on the Indonesia’s trade balance by 17.91%. However, the price of coal is very influential on the volume of Indonesia’s coal export. Momentum of Phase-down Coal is a golden opportunity to maximize economic benefits while preparing renewable energy as a substitute for coal.

Abstract

This study examines compensation systems in low-wage employment, focusing on their design, organizational rationale, and outcomes for employers within the context of Human Resource Management. Utilizing a qualitative literature review method, the research analyzes secondary data from sources like Scopus and Google Scholar to provide insights into compensation trends in low-wage sectors. The findings show that compensation systems in these jobs are typically structured to minimize organizational costs, offering low wages, limited benefits, and minimal employee development opportunities. These designs lead to challenges for workers, such as financial insecurity, job dissatisfaction, and restricted career advancement, while organizations face high turnover, decreased productivity, and reduced employee engagement. Although these strategies provide short-term cost savings, they create long-term challenges for workforce stability. The study emphasizes the importance of designing compensation systems that balance organizational needs with employee well-being, ultimately contributing to sustainable workforce development and improved organizational outcomes.

Abstract

The transformation towards a digital economy in Indonesia presents a strategic opportunity to enhance financial transparency and combat corruption through non-cash transactions. Despite initiatives like the National Non-Cash Movement (GNNT) and advancements in digital payment systems such as QRIS, cash transactions remain dominant due to infrastructure disparities, low digital literacy, and entrenched cultural habits. This study examines the role of non-cash transactions in preventing corruption by leveraging digital footprints for real-time monitoring and accountability. Using a normative legal research method, the study analyzes regulations like Law Number 8 of 2010 on Money Laundering Prevention, alongside secondary data from institutions such as Bank Indonesia and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Findings reveal that digital transactions significantly reduce corruption risks by enabling transparent financial tracking, as evidenced by successful implementations like e-budgeting in DKI Jakarta. However, challenges persist, including cybersecurity threats and uneven policy coordination. The research underscores the need for stronger infrastructure, public education, and cross-sector collaboration to foster inclusive digital adoption. Strategic recommendations include enhancing regulatory frameworks, expanding digital literacy programs, and incentivizing private-sector innovation. These measures aim to create a resilient digital economy that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and equitable access, ultimately reducing corruption and strengthening public trust in financial governance.

Abstract

Today the development of shopping malls in Indonesia has various concepts that are carried to attract visitors. Beachwalk Shopping Center located in Kuta, Bali is one of the malls that carries the concept of citywalk. The unique shape of the mass of the Beachwalk Shoppping Center building has its own meaning. The shape of the mass order of the building that affects the pattern of spatial order. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of spatial order formed in Beachwalk Shopping Center. This study used an intrepretative qualitative approach with descriptive data presentation. The finding in this study is that the shape of the mass organically forms a curved linear space organization with the outdoor area as the center, forming a linear path configuration. The linear path configuration applied by the mall is very effective to make visitors surround all parts of the mall. But at some point the branching can confuse visitors who are not familiar with the spatial arrangement of the mall.
