Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in economics. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of creative thinking, critical thinking, and learning environment on student learning outcomes. The research method used was a survey with an associative research design. The research population consisted of 251 students in grade XI of SMA Negeri 2 Tasikmalaya City who took Economics, with a sample of 154 students selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, and data analysis used multiple linear regression. The results showed that creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills, and the learning environment each had a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.000. In addition, simultaneously, the three variables also had a significant effect on student learning outcomes. These findings indicate that improving creative thinking skills, critical thinking skills, and a conducive learning environment can contribute to improving student learning outcomes in economics.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problems that occur at SMAN 5 Tasikmalaya, namely the low critical thinking ability of students. The method used is an experimental method with a type of pseudo-experiment, with a research design using a non-equivalent control group design, and data collection techniques through a description test. The population in this study was all class X SMAN 5 Tasikmalaya in the 2024/2025 school year which amounted to 470 students. The sample used was class X-9 which amounted to 34 people as an experimental class and class X-6 which amounted to 35 people as a control class with sampling using nonprobability sampling technique. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying the cooperative learning model of Group Investigation type assisted by Digital Mind Map in improving students' critical thinking skills in economic subjects. Based on the results of the study, it is explained that there is an effect of the application of the cooperative learning model of Group Investigation type assisted by Digital Mind Map on students' critical thinking skills on the material of Financial Institutions in Indonesia, where Ha is accepted if the sig. (2-tailed) value ≤ 0.05 and based on research obtained a sig. (2 tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05. The average score of the experimental class is higher than the control class, thus it can be concluded in this study that the cooperative learning model of Group Investigation type assisted by Digital Mind Map can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on students' critical thinking skills in the subject of Economics. The research method employed a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, involving two eleventh-grade (XI) classes at SMAN 9 Garut as the research sample. The instrument used was a critical thinking skills essay test based on Ennis's indicators. The results indicated an improvement in critical thinking skills in both classes; however, the experimental class showed a more significant improvement compared to the control class. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 74.35, which was higher than the control class at 64.53, with N-Gain values of 0.36 (medium category) and 0.17 (low category), respectively. The independent sample t-test yielded a Sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two classes after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that CTL has a significant influence and is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills as it provides meaningful learning experiences by connecting the material with real-life contexts.
