Abstract

The incidence of stunting (short) under five is a major nutritional problem in all countries. Based on three years of nutritional status monitoring (PSG) data, stunting in Indonesia shows that stunting has the highest prevalence compared to other nutritional problems such as malnutrition, wasting, and obesity. This is due to the pregnancy process of mothers who experience malnutrition during pregnancy, low Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD), and inadequate provision of MP-ASI. This study aims to determine the relationship between stunting and student achievement in SD/MIN schools in the work area of the Ligan Health Center, Aceh Jaya Regency. This study uses a type of quantitative research. The population of this study were all SD/MIN students in the working area of the Ligan Health Center, Aceh Jaya Regency in 2022. The respondents used were students aged 7-12 years and had complete report cards. Researchers took samples using the consecutive sampling method. Abstract

Gender equality in physical education remains a critical issue, particularly in the Department of Islamic Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI) at the State Institute of Islamic Studies of Bone, where social constructs and gender stereotypes often hinder female students’ active participation in physical activities. This study aims to explore the experiences, views, and perceptions of students and lecturers regarding gender equality practices in physical education, and how inclusive learning spaces can dismantle symbolic domination and foster social transformation. This qualitative study employed a phenomenological design, involving 10 female students and two lecturers as key participants. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and curriculum document analysis. The findings indicate that female students demonstrated increased self-confidence, active engagement, and a shift in perceptions toward sports after participating in inclusive, gender responsive learning. The learning environment also promoted collaborative interactions between male and female students, supported by the strategic role of lecturers as facilitators of justice-based values. In the context of Islamic higher education institutions, this approach successfully integrates religious values with gender equality principles in a harmonious way. The study concludes that physical education plays a strategic role as a medium for social transformation, not only enhancing physical fitness but also fostering critical awareness of equity and social justice. This study implies that gender-equitable physical education training in PGMI contributes to shaping inclusive future teachers who promote equal participation in primary classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of river infrastructure on sediment distribution in the Bili-Bili Reservoir. Bathymetric data obtained using an echo-sounding sonar system were processed with Surfer 14 to analyze reservoir bottom morphology, storage capacity, and sediment accumulation. Hydrological modeling with NRECA calibration was combined with field measurements to estimate sediment inflow and storage loss. Results show cumulative sedimentation increased by 42% (1997–2005), 33% (2005–2011), and 25% (2011–2017), with a peak deposition of 21.74 × 10⁶ m³ in 2005. Following the construction of sabo dams, consolidation dams, and check dams in 2011, sedimentation rates decreased by 57% relative to 2005. Reservoir capacity declined from 365 × 10⁶ m³ in 1997 to 264 × 10⁶ m³ in 2017, reducing the effective service life by approximately 6.5 years. The remaining lifespan of the reservoir in 2017 was 24 years and 4 months, compared to the original design life. These findings emphasize that periodic dredging (every four years), monthly sediment removal at the consolidation dam, and sediment trapping in the Jeneberang watershed are essential to sustain reservoir performance.

Abstract

Efforts from a development process cannot be separated from the existence of effective agricultural information and technology as well as accurate information in the hope that there will be changes in the behaviour and abilities of farmers in farming activities and increased production to realize the goals of a development process, namely rice self-sufficiency. Gowa Regency is a district whose population is mostly engaged in agriculture and areas that do not escape the government's attention, especially in the agricultural sector. In applying new technology, of course, there must be the roles of certain parties in the application of technology, both from the government, extension agents and farmers (target/community). The data needed in this study are primary data and secondary data. Primary data is data obtained directly from the field through direct interviews with sample farmers who are guided by prepared questionnaires. The data obtained are primary and secondary data processed by quantitative methods. In this study, the analysis used is the different test for two different samples (t-test) and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis model. Combine harvester affects the socio-economic income of lowland rice farmers in Gowa Regency with the presence of agricultural machine tools combine harvester, so rice farmers are more benefited from a time-efficient point of view and the need for labour was minimal and income also increased by about 15% from conventional harvesting. There is a need for socialization of the use and utilization of agricultural so that farmers are more interested in using agricultural machine tools in the field.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Makassar City face various challenges that hinder their competitiveness both locally and globally. The main obstacles include low understanding of digital technology, limited access to capital, inadequate financial literacy, and weak managerial capabilities. In addition, inconsistent product quality and a lack of innovation make MSMEs vulnerable to market pressures, especially from imported products marketed through socio-commerce platforms such as TikTok Shop. To address these challenges, MSMEs need to adopt a comprehensive total quality management approach and enhance innovation as efforts to strengthen their operational performance. This study employs a quantitative method with an associative approach. The sample consists of 130 respondents from MSMEs under the guidance of the Makassar City MSME Incubator, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires designed with a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Square (PLS), which includes the evaluation of the outer model, inner model, and goodness of fit to test the relationships among variables. The results show that Total Quality Management (TQM) has a positive and significant effect on innovation and operational performance. Innovation also positively influences the operational performance of MSMEs. Furthermore, innovation is proven to play a significant partial mediating role in the relationship between TQM and operational performance. These findings emphasize that the effective implementation of TQM, along with strong support for innovation, can enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs in Makassar City.

Abstract

Thermal comfort regulation in buildings located in hot climates, such as Indonesia, remains highly dependent on air conditioning (AC) systems, leading to substantial energy consumption. Integrating Phase Change Materials (PCM) into building envelopes offers a passive thermal management strategy to reduce cooling loads. This study investigates the thermal performance of a gypsum-based wall incorporating a eutectic fatty acid PCM (laurate–stearate) of 85:15 (wt%) modified with polylactic acid (PLA) at three PCM:PLA ratios (1:0.6, 1:0.8, and 1:1), alongside a control sample without PCM. Samples were fabricated at laboratory scale and evaluated using a mini-cubicle system under controlled charging and discharging conditions. Energy performance was assessed through temperature change rates and heat transfer (q) analysis at three measurement points (T1, T2, T3). Results demonstrate that PLA modification significantly enhances PCM performance, with the 1:0.8 ratio (bPCM) exhibiting optimal behavior. During charging, bPCM achieved the lowest temperature change rates of 4.75 °C/h at T1, 1.15 °C/h at T2, and 0.65 °C/h at T3 and the minimum heat transfer from T2 to T3 of 32.049 J. Similarly, during discharging, bPCM maintained the smallest temperature change rates of 2.2 °C/h at T1, 1.0 °C/h at T2, and 0.65 °C/h at T3 with the lowest heat transfer to the indoor zone of 32.033 J. These findings confirm that optimized PLA-modified eutectic PCM significantly improves heat absorption, latent heat storage, and thermal insulation performance compared to non-PCM and non-optimized compositions. The proposed composite wall system demonstrates strong potential for passive cooling enhancement and building energy efficiency improvement in hot-climate regions
