Abstract

Karang Bolong Beach which is located in Karang Suraga Village, Cinangka District, Serang Regency, Banten Province, has its own characteristics, namely there is a large hollow rock that forms like a gate which is a special attraction because other beaches do not have it. However, in the concept of sustainable ecotourism, a tourist attraction no longer only prioritizes the attractiveness of uniqueness, but the potential of ecotourism needs to be analyzed using a tourism suitability index and carrying capacity. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of suitability of tourism and the carrying capacity of the area as seen from oceanographic conditions and the aquatic environment. Data collection was carried out by means of field observations to observe and measure the parameters of oceanographic conditions and the aquatic environment at three observation stations which were determined using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the tourism suitability analysis at station 1 were 75% with the S2 category or suitable, at station 2 it was 80.95% with the S1 category or very suitable, and at station 3 it was 79.76% with the S2 category or suitable. The results of the carrying capacity of the Karang Bolong Beach area which has an area of ​​20,000 m² can accommodate as many as 1,200 visitors/day without causing ecological disturbance.

Abstract

This research intends to assess the productivity rate of the Purse Seine fishing method at the Coastal Fishing Port (PPP) Labuan in Pandeglang Regency and to develop sustainable management approaches. A quantitative descriptive approach was used to evaluate productivity through indicators like Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) and Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY). Data were obtained through observations in the field, interviews with fishermen, and recording of catches in February 2024 by the marine and fisheries office in Labuan. The results showed a decrease in CPUE from 219.11 kg/trip. The CPUE results show that Purse Seine productivity in Labuan can be said to be good, but if it continues to be left unchecked it will result in a significant decrease in certain species such as tuna and squid obtained from data released from the Labuan marine and fisheries office. Therefore, there must be steps to prevent fluctuations in the Labuan fishing sector by applying an ecosystem-based approach (EAFM) to maintain the sustainability of the marine ecosystem in the Sunda Strait.

Abstract

Pulau Panjang terletak di Teluk Banten, Provinsi Banten merupakan pulau kecil yang berdekatan dengan wilayah perkotaan dan industri, antara lain industri pangan, industri minyak dan gas, industri kapal dan industri pembuatan besi. Kehidupan masyarakat di Pulau Panjang sebagian besar memiliki pekerjaan dibidang perikanan. Kegiatan antropogenik berdampak pada kondisi perairan di Pulau Panjang salah satunya pencemaran logam berat yang dapat membahayakan kehidupan disekitar wilayah Pulau Panjang. Merkuri (Hg) merupakan salah satu pencemar yang berbahaya bagi lingkungan laut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi Hg yang terkandung dalam sampel sedimen pesisir Pulau Panjang dan penyebarannya.  Pengambilan sedimen permukaan perairan Pulau Panjang dilakukan bulan Februari 2023. Empat stasiun dan delapan titik penelitian pada setiap stasiun ditentukan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Logam berat Hg dianalisis dari setiap sampel sedimen menggunakan metode Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CVAAS). Data angin bulan Februari 2023 didapatkan dari Instansi Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) Stasiun Maritim Serang dan sekitarnya. Hasil yang diperoleh dari analisis merkuri memperlihatkan bahwa sedimen perairan Pulau Panjang memiliki konsentrasi Hg rata-rata 285,89 µg/kg, menurut mutu ANZECC & ARMCANZ (2000) nilai tersebut masuk dalam kategori lower. Sumber Hg pada sedimen diduga berasal dari aktivitas manusia yang berada di Pulau Panjang dan penyebarannya dipengaruhi oleh faktor angin dan arus pantai yang menyebabkan konsentrasi Hg berada menjauh dari tepi pantai.Panjang Island is located in Banten Bay, Banten Province, is a small island which is close to urban and industrial areas, including the food industry, oil and gas industry, ship industry and iron making industry. Most of Panjang Island’s people are fisherman. Antrophogenic activities impact on the conditition of the waters in Panjang Island, i.e. heavy metal pollution such as Mercury (Hg) which threathen marine life around the Panjang Island area. Mercury (Hg) is a pollutant that is harmful to marine environment. This study aims to determine the concentration of Hg contained in samples of coastal sediments from Panjang Island and its distribution. Surface sediment collection from the waters of Panjang Island will be carried out in February 2023. Four stations and eight sampling point in each station were determined using a purposive sampling method. Heavy metal Hg content in coastal sediment was analyzed using the Cold Vapor Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CVAAS) method. Wind data for February 2023 was obtained from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) at Serang Maritime Station for the region surrounding Panjang Islands. The results show that the average Hg concentration in sediments of the Panjang Island Waters is 285. 89 µg/kg, according to the quality of ANZECC & ARMCANZ (2000) this value is included in the lower category. The source of Hg in the sediments is supposed originated from human activities surrounding Panjang Island and its distribution is influenced by wind and coastal currents which cause decreasing Hg concentrations from offshore.

Abstract

Muara sungai sebagai kawasan estuari memainkan peranan penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem pesisir, namun aktivitas antropogenik seperti pertanian, industri, dan pemukiman di sekitar Teluk Banten telah meningkatkan tekanan lingkungan yang menyebabkan pencemaran bahan organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsentrasi nitrat, fosfat, dan amonia sebagai indikator kualitas air di tiga muara sungai di pesisir Teluk Banten. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara purposive sampling, dan parameter fisik-kimia diuji menggunakan metode spektrofotometri serta instrumen laboratorium standar. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kandungan nitrat berada dalam kategori mesotrofik 2,71 mg/L, fosfat berada di atas baku mutu (>0,28 mg/L), dan amonia masih di bawah ambang batas (0,06-0,07 mg/L). Faktor lingkungan seperti suhu, pH, salinitas, oksigen terlarut, dan total padatan terlarut juga diamati untuk menentukan hubungan terhadap konsentrasi bahan organik. Hasil pengamatan   parameter fisik-kimia di tiga stasiun pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa suhu berada dalam kisaran normal yakni 28,83 °C, masih sesuai dengan baku mutu. Nilai pH relatif netral dengan rata-rata 7,65. Salinitas tercatat fluktuatif dengan rata-rata 25 ppt, di bawah baku mutu laut normal. Kandungan oksigen terlarut (DO) tergolong rendah yaitu 3,2 mg/L, berada di bawah ambang batas baku mutu (>5 mg/L), yang mengindikasikan kondisi perairan cenderung tercemar. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) menunjukkan rata-rata 35,7 ppm tanpa acuan baku mutu spesifik, namun masih berada dalam kisaran umum perairan pesisir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan indikasi eutrofikasi dan pencemaran sedang akibat tingginya masukan limbah domestik dan pertanian, yang dapat mengancam keberlangsungan biota perairan di sekitar Teluk Banten. River mouths, as estuarine areas, play an important role in maintaining the balance of coastal ecosystems, but anthropogenic activities such as agriculture, industry, and settlements around Banten Bay have increased environmental pressure, leading to organic material pollution. This study aims to analyze the concentration of nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia as indicators of water quality in three river estuaries along the coast of Banten Bay. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, and the physicochemical parameters were tested using spectrophotometry methods and standard laboratory instruments. The results show that the average nitrate content falls within the mesotrophic category 2.71 mg/L, phosphate levels are above the quality standard (>0.28 mg/L), and ammonia remains below the threshold (0.06-0.07 mg/L). Environmental factors such as temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and total dissolved solids were also observed to determine their relationship with organic material concentration. The results of the observation of physicochemical parameters at three observation stations show that the temperature is within the normal range, namely 28.83 °C, still in accordance with the quality standards. The pH value is relatively neutral with an average of 7.65. Salinity was recorded as fluctuating with an average of 25 ppt, below the normal marine water quality standards. The dissolved oxygen (DO) content is classified as low at 3.2 mg/L, below the standard quality threshold (>5 mg/L), indicating that the water conditions tend to be polluted. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) showed an average of 35.7 ppm without a specific quality standard reference, but still within the general range of coastal waters. The results of the study indicate eutrophication and moderate pollution due to high levels of domestic and agricultural waste, which could threaten the sustainability of aquatic biota around Banten Bay.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan logam berat tembaga (Cu) dan juga kadmium (Cd) pencemaran pada perairan muara sungai sekitar wilayah Kota Cilegon. Stasiun penelitian ditentukan dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan data primer dari observasi. Penelitian ini juga akan mengambil sampel organisme yaitu ikan pelagis yang ada di sekitar muara sungai. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis logam berat menggunakan Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) untuk mengetahui kandungan logam pada organisme. Hasil penelitian sesuai dengan Peraturan Pemerintah No. 22 Tahun 2021 tentang Penyelenggaraan Perlindungan dan Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup menunjukkan perairan muara sungai di wilayah Kota Cilegon sebagian tidak terdeteksi adanya kandungan logam berat Kadmium (Cd), namun sebagian lagi terdeteksi adanya kandungan logam tembaga (Cu), sebesar 0,116 mg/L. Demikian pula organisme yang hidup di dalam perairan, yaitu ikan. Ikan pelagis kecil sering ditemui di berbagai muara sungai, ikan ini bersifat estuari (air tawar, dan air asin). Hasil pengamatan logam berat menunjukkan beberapa ikan (ikan belanak, ikan kaca asia, dan ikan mujair) yang sering ditemui mengandung logam berat kadmium (Cd) dan tembaga (Cu), dengan rata-rata logam kadmium (Cd) sebesar 1,2517 mg/kg dan rata-rata logam tembaga (Cu) sebesar 0,5527 mg/kg. Hasil ini tentu saja lebih dari batas standar baku mutu yang ada sesuai dengan Permen KP Nomor: 37/PERMEN-KP/2019 baku mutu tembaga (Cu) ialah 0,3 mg/kg dan sesuai dengan Peraturan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan Nomor 9 Tahun 2022 baku mutu Kadmium (Cd) ialah 0,05 mg/kg, sehingga ikan-ikan di perairan ini tidak bisa dikonsumsi.  This study was conducted to determine the content of heavy metals, such as copper (Cu) and cadmium (Cd), that are polluting the estuary waters around the Cilegon City area. The research station was determined using the purposive sampling method. The research was conducted in a quantitative descriptive study using primary data from observations. This study will also take samples of organisms, namely pelagic fish, around the estuary. Furthermore, heavy metal analysis was carried out using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) to determine the metal content in organisms. The results of the study following Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management showed that the waters of the river estuary in the Cilegon City area were partially undetectable for heavy metal Cadmium (Cd). Still, some were detected for copper (Cu), amounting to 0.116 mg / L. Similarly, the organisms living in the waters of the river estuary in the Cilegon City area were not detected. Similarly, the organisms that live in the waters are fish. Small pelagic fish are often found in various river estuaries; these fish are found in both freshwater and saltwater estuaries. The results of heavy metal observations show that some fish (mullet, Asian glassfish, and tilapia) are often found to contain heavy metals cadmium (Cd) and copper (Cu), with an average cadmium metal (Cd) of 1.2517 mg/kg and an average copper metal (Cu) of 0.5527 mg/kg. These results are of course more than the limit of the existing quality standards following KP Regulation Number: 37/PERMEN-KP/2019 copper (Cu) quality standard is 0.3 mg/kg and following the Food and Drug Administration Regulation Number 9 of 2022 the quality standard for Cadmium (Cd) is 0.05 mg/kg, so the fish in these waters cannot be consumed.
