Abstract

This study was aim to compare between free inquiry learning model and free inquiry modified model on chemistry learning. Free inquiry Modified model is the combination of guided inquiry and free inquiry. This study is quasi experimental by using 2 x 2 factorial design. Each of learning model is prepared with learning device in the form of syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, and written tests to measure the students’ learning outcomes and validated by experts earlier. The sample of study were grade X IPA- 2 and X IPA- 3. The sample grade X IPA- 2 is taken by using guided inquiry models. Meanwhile, grade X IPA-3 is taken by using free inquiry modified model, with the previous semester's scores as the students’ initial abilities. The initial ability score that higher than average as high initial ability and under average score as low initial ability.The student learning outcomes of grade X Senior High School 2 Selong who were taught by free inquiry learning have higher score than students who were taught by free inquiry modified model, it can be seen from the average score of each class, namely X IPA- 2, 78.75 while X IPA- 3, 76.25. Each of grade has increasing score before and after treatment. As the result, the average score for grade X IPA-2 before treatment is 66.75 become 78.75. Whereas, the average score for grade X IPA-3 before free inquiry modified treatment is 64.93 become 76.25.

Abstract

Learning in schools is influenced by the development of the applicable curriculum. Currently education in Indonesia applies the 2013 curriculum which uses a scientific approach. His special interest in science subjects at SMP One of the supporters of the realization of a good learning process is to use the media practicum manuals, but often science practicum manuals use tools and materials that cannot be reached by the school so that practicum activities are not carried out optimally. Therefore it is necessary to develop alternative science practical instructions with a scientific approach that can facilitate learning in schools, especially in science subjects. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of alternative science practical instructions with a scientific approach on critical thinking skills. This research is a Research and Development research. The results showed that the alternative science practicum guidelines developed were feasible and effective for students' critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the average score of the acquisition of the validation assessment from expert validation reaching 71.21 valid with good criteria, an increase in students' critical thinking skills using the N-Gain formula of 0.72. Based on the data and research results, it can be concluded that the alternative science practicum instructions with a scientific approach are feasible and effective for students' critical thinking skills

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL) approach to the Critical Thinking Ability of Class VII MTs Students. Uswatun Hasanah Cempaka Putih on Environmental Pollution Materials. This study uses an experimental research method with True experimental form and nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were all students of Class VII MTs. Uswatun Hasanah Cempaka Putih, amounting to 65 students. This study also uses a sampling technique that is using nonprobability sampling with the type of Purposive Sampling. Data collection techniques using direct observation and measurement techniques. The research instrument used was a written test with multiple choice tests and using critical thinking indicators from Ennis. Based on the results of data analysis of students' critical thinking skills, the average post-test scores in the experimental class and the control class were 66,333 and 56,774. T-test results obtained t-count = 2.538 and t-table = 2.001 (α = 5%; db = 59). Because t-count (2,538)> t-table (2,001), it means that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The effect size is 0.638 with moderate criteria. The conclusion of this study is that there is a moderate effect on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning and learning approaches to the Critical Thinking Ability of Class VII MTs Uswatun Hasanah Cempaka Putih with medium criteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze students problem-solving skills related to the topic of Archimedes' law which is taught using a problem - based learning model. The research subjects were 36 students of SMK Bakti Kencana class. The research model that used for this research was mixed methods. The results of this study was indicate that the students' problem-solving abilities have increased significantly, namely the N-gain average score of 0.70 is in the medium category, and the effect size is 5.08 (very strong category). So it can be concluded that the students' problem solving abilities have changed very well, namely at the stage of defining the problem: problem schema, understanding casual relationships in problems, arguing to learn problem solving, and analogizing problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, Society) learning on the mastery of students' critical thinking abilities using tests and observations. The type of this research was a quasi experiment. This research used an experimental class and control class. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling. To determine the differences in the mastery of critical thinking skills in the control class and the experimental class, the t-test was carried out with the Polled Variance formula. The analysis results show t count = 10.1332 while t table = 1.9908 with a significant level of 0.05 so that t count> t table. H1 is accepted, it can be the influence of the SETS (Science, Environment, Technology and Society) learning method on critical thinking skills. So that can be conclude that there is an influence of the SETS learning method in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the importance of understanding the nature of science for science teachers as a solution in teaching multidimensional science. Science is a knowledge (scientific product), a series of investigation processes (scientific process), and scientific attitude which is reflected in the nature of Science (Nature of Science). NOS describes the real science, how it works, and its interaction with society in the perspectives of philosophy, history, sociology, and psychology of science. Understanding NOS is an important aspect of scientific literacy. The results of research in recent times show that teachers and students do not understand the concept of NOS optimally. This study uses literature analysis. The results show that NOS is divided into three main aspects, namely the nature of scientific knowledge, the nature of scientific investigation and the nature of scientific endeavor. understanding the concept of NOS must be an important part to be instilled in science teachers. Learning science is not just knowing natural objects, but science has a wider study dimension than that, which needs to be studied from the ontological, epistemological and axiological side. Teachers must master how to teach science, how the impact or influence of science learning and what influences science learning. Thus, understanding the NOS concept of science teachers will have an impact on students' mastery of understanding the NOS concept.

Abstract

This study is one of the efforts to examine the literature because there is still limited reconstruction of the original science that developed in society into scientific science. This study can then be developed and applied by students as a source of independent learning. The study of local potential in science learning is very important to do, considering that not many have comprehensively analyzed this topic. The local potential that exists in each region can be a wealth of references in learning. Local potential in the form of natural resources, language, customs, arts and can be a wealth of food. Since ancient times, the role of food has been studied as an ingredient to fulfill nutritional needs. Without realizing it, food, especially traditional food, has become the identity of a nation. Traditional food can be a reflection of the geographical, social and cultural conditions that are unique to a nation. This research is important to do so that the potential for research can be known and can be used as a consideration in developing further learning designs. The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the concept of science learning to increase local food preferences into scientific science, as well as to explain science material related to the reconstruction of original science in the process of making traditional food.

Abstract

The skills of students in the global era or the twenty-first century become a very important topic in learning. The lack of students' understanding of 21st century skills is caused by a lack of global awareness and the importance of global skills which are the basis for developing students' self as citizens of the world. Globalization shows that the world is getting smaller, the dependence between nations is getting bigger. Globalization is a globalizing process, meaning that all activities are calculated for the benefit of the world. Therefore, it is necessary to study in-depth literature on increasing global awareness as the basis for future education. The method used is literature review. The source of the literature review used is in the form of articles that are in accordance with this article. students need academic and applied knowledge, can connect knowledge and skills, be creative and adaptive, and be able to transform all these aspects into valuable skills. Abstract

Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penilaian pembelajaran sains (IPA) dipengaruhi oleh keyakinan atau pengetahuan guru ditinjau dari perspektif filsafat. Metode yang digunakan dalam penulisan artikel ini adalah kajian pustaka atau studi leratur.  Keyakinan dalam konteks pendidikan yaitu mengkaji praktik yang dianut oleh guru tentang pembelajaran dan penilaiannya, Keyakinan telah digambarkan sebagai konstruksi psikologis yang paling berharga bagi guru. Keyakinan membentuk nilai-nilai seseorang dan pada akhirnya menentukan perilaku, Keyakinan adalah kebenaran pribadi sedangkan pengetahuan dianggap lebih bersifat faktual karena dapat secara objektif dan diverifikasi secara independen. Keyakinan menciptakan sikap, sikap berubah menjadi tindakan yang memandu keputusan dan perilaku.  Dalam kaitannya dengan pendidikan sains berdasarkan hasil kajian literatur bahwa keyakinan guru berdampak pada persepsi dan penilaian pendidikan sains sehingga mempengaruhi perilaku, praktik, dan tindakan mereka dalam ruang kelas. keyakinan guru memainkan peran utama dalam mendefinisikan tugas mengajar dan mengatur pengetahuan dan informasi yang relevan, oleh karena itu berdasarkan studi literatur dapat simpulkan bawa keyakinan lebih berperan daripada pengetahuan dalam menentukan keputusan praktik penilaian pendidikan sains/IP hal ini karena keyakinan guru memainkan peran utama dalam mendefinisikan tugas mengajar dan mengatur pengetahuan dan informasi yang relevan dengan tugas kelas.

Abstract
