Abstract

This study aimed to detection of protein profile, expression of metalothionein (MT) protein, and analyze difference of MT density in liver and gill in one of Carp fish that is Barbonymus balleroides in the upstream and downstream of Brantas river. The method used observasional analytic, Two individual of Barbonymus balleroides samples taken three times (with difference of month) from two station there are upstream and downstream of Brantas river. Analysis protein profile used electrophoresis SDS-PAGE (15%), expression and density of MT used western blot method and imageJ software. Difference between MT density in liver and gill of Barbonymus balleroides in the upstream and downstream of Brantas river analyzed with Two-way ANOVA. The results showed, protein profile in liver and gill Barbonymus balleroides in the upstream and downstream Brantas river have molecular weight about 8-93 kDa, expression of MT showed band of MT with molecular weight 24 kDa, results of MT density in liver and gill on upstream and downstream, continuously 231.29 MT/µm2 and 229.87MT/µm2, 232.41 MT/µm2 and  231.56 MT/µm2 but there is not significant.

Abstract

Introduction: In humans, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) can damage some tissue when the immune systems was decrease. Natural product from the plant often used to improve immune response against microorganism including virus. This study aimed to determine the potential antioxidant of lemongrass extract (C . nardus) with various dosage that can provide immunomodulatory effects and find an optimal dosage to be used.  Methods: The method used observasional analytic, using animal model of 30 male mice strain BALB/C, weight 25-30 gram, divided into 5 groups; the positive control group was given 0.05 mL of  0.05% CMC within 14 days, negative control group was given IMBOOST® tablet 200 mg/kg body weight (bw) within 14 days, treatment groups  were given C. nardus extract with various doses 50 mg/kg bw, 150 mg/kg bw, and 300 mg/kg bw.  In day 21 all group were injected with 0,2 ml of  pathogen bacterial (S. aureus). Blood samples were taken three times: 7th day, 14th day, and 21th day. Results: The results showed that lemongrass extract (C. nardus) was able to influence the leukocyte and lymphocytes count with significant different (p<0.05). The optimal dose is 150 mg/kg body weight. Conclusion: The antioxidant compounds that contain in the C. nardus extract have an ability to increasing the immune system in the dose 150 mg/kg bw , but in the dose 300 mg/kg bw became toxic that can make a skin injury or death in animal test.

Abstract

Citronella grass is a plant that belongs to the rhizome group. In its application, lemongrass is widely used for both food, medicine and aromatherapy needs. The various benefits of lemongrass are interesting to research about the content of compounds in lemongrass. The purpose of this study is to provide information about screening for chemical compounds in the ethanol extract of citronella (Cimbopogon nardus L). This research method is by way of Phytochemical Screening test, namely Alkaloids with Mayer, Dragendorff, and Bouchardat reagents. Flavonoid test with Shinoda test, tannin test with gelatin test, saponin test with foam test, terpenoid/steroid test with Liebermann-Burchard reagent. The results showed that phytochemical screening showed the presence of several compounds in the serum, namely alkaloids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids and flavonoids in every member of the plant body, namely stems, roots and leaves, but did not contain steroids in the roots, stems and leaves.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TBC) is one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world. Adherence to TB therapy is critical in achieving successful treatment outcomes, controlling transmission, and preventing the development of TB drug resistance. Compliance with taking antituberculosis drugs is closely related to the patient's quality of life, but the number of cases of recurrence should be a source of thought whether the patient's adherence to taking the drug will have a significant impact on the patient's quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between medication adherence and the quality of life of tuberculosis patients in Lamongan. The research design is a descriptive collaborative with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling by purposive sampling with a total sample of 60 respondents. Compliance with taking medication was obtained through the MARS-5 questionnaire and quality of life using the SGRQ questionnaire. The data obtained were then analyzed with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 70.0% of respondents had high medication adherence, and 60.0% experienced a good quality of life category. The results of the Chi-Square test showed that there was a relationship between medication adherence and the quality of life of tuberculosis patients at the Lamongan District Health Center. The more obedient the patient is in taking the drug, the better the quality of life.

Abstract

Skincare has become a daily necessity for students especially Muslims, who must pay attention to the halalness of the skincare products used, because it has been regulated in Islam regarding halal and haram consumption. Student knowledge greatly influences halal in the selection of skincare products to be used. This study aims to determine the difference in the level of knowledge of FSTP and FEB students at Muhammadiyah Lamongan University. The research design used is descriptive comparative with purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out prospectively, from collecting questionnaire data that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument used was a closed questionnaire consisting of respondents' personal data and statements related to the criteria for halal skincare products. The results obtained from this study are the level of knowledge in the good category at FSTP as much as 60.52% and FEB as much as 76.6%, the sufficient category at FSTP as much as 38.6% and FEB as much as 21.28%, the poor category at FSTP as much as 0 .88% and FEB as much as 1.12%. The data obtained was then processed using SPSS with the Mann Whitney Test and obtained a p-value of 0.063 (> 0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant difference between the level of knowledge of FSTP and FEB regarding the criteria for halal skincare products.

Abstract

Usaha Kecil Obat Tradisional (UKOT) memiliki peran strategis dalam pengembangan produk berbasis kearifan lokal sekaligus mendukung perekonomian masyarakat. Namun, tantangan utama yang dihadapi UKOT, seperti kualitas bahan baku dan proses produksi yang kurang optimal, sering kali menghambat daya saing produk mereka. Artikel ini membahas kegiatan pelatihan pengolahan simplisia yang dilaksanakan di CV. Sangkuriang, Sidoarjo, sebagai salah satu upaya meningkatkan kualitas produk UKOT. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang teknik pengolahan simplisia yang tepat, mulai dari pemilihan bahan baku, proses pencucian, pengeringan, hingga penyimpanan. Kegiatan pelatihan melibatkan peserta yang terdiri dari pengelola dan karyawan UKOT di CV. Sangkuriang. Metode yang digunakan mencakup sesi teori, praktik langsung, dan evaluasi hasil pelatihan. Dalam sesi teori, peserta diberikan wawasan tentang standar mutu simplisia berdasarkan regulasi yang berlaku. Sementara itu, praktik langsung difokuskan pada penerapan teknik pengolahan sesuai dengan standar kualitas yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, yang terlihat dari kemampuan mereka dalam mengidentifikasi bahan baku berkualitas, menerapkan metode pengeringan yang efisien, serta menjaga kebersihan dan higienitas selama proses pengolahan. Pelatihan ini tidak hanya memberikan dampak langsung terhadap peningkatan kualitas simplisia, tetapi juga membuka peluang pengembangan produk yang lebih inovatif dan berdaya saing. Oleh karena itu, program serupa diharapkan dapat dilaksanakan secara berkesinambungan dan diperluas ke UKOT lainnya. Dengan demikian, pelatihan pengolahan simplisia dapat menjadi solusi strategis untuk meningkatkan kapasitas UKOT sekaligus memperkuat industri obat tradisional berbasis lokal di Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pengelolaan obat yang aman dan rasional masih rendah, berpotensi meningkatkan risiko Drug-Related Problems (DRPs). Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman kader Nasyiatul Aisyiyah tentang konsep DAGUSIBU (Dapatkan, Gunakan, Simpan, Buang) agar mereka dapat menjadi agen perubahan dalam edukasi kesehatan komunitas. Penyuluhan berbasis komunitas dilakukan terhadap 49 kader di Desa Blawi, Lamongan, dengan evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam tingkat pengetahuan kader setelah intervensi,sebanyak 68% kader mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan setelah mengikuti penyuluahan berbasis komunitas ini. Mayoritas peserta juga menyatakan kepuasan terhadap metode edukasi yang diterapkan. Edukasi berbasis komunitas melalui kader terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi kesehatan terkait pengelolaan obat yang tepat.Abstract: Public awareness of safe and rational drug management remains low, increasing the risk of Drug-Related Problems (DRPs). This program aimed to enhance the knowledge of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah cadres on DAGUSIBU (Obtain, Use, Store, Dispose) so they can act as community health educators. A community-based counseling session was conducted for 49 cadres in Blawi Village, Lamongan, with pre-test and post-test evaluations. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, with 68% of the cadres showing increased understanding following the intervention. Most participants also expressed satisfaction with the educational method applied. Community-based education through cadres has proven effective in improving health literacy related to proper drug management.

Abstract

Hypertension is a noncommunicable illness that is a severe health concern across the world also one of the main global causes of early mortality. It might be difficult to treat people with diabetes mellitus and hypertension using pharmaceuticals, including the use of many drugs, which allows for unexpected treatment outcomes DRPs. Examining the impact of DRPs on blood pressure reduction goals in individuals with diabetes mellitus who had hypertension was the aim of this study. This research was conducted on 86 outpatients in August-October 2023. Data collection used purposive sampling method. The results showed the achievement of blood pressure as much as 41 (47.68%). The occurrence of DRPs found included indications without therapy 13 (3.43%), therapy without indication 16 (4.23%), drug interactions 349 (92.32%). Mann whitney statistical test results obtained p=0.947. The study revealed that DRPs had no effect on the blood pressure lowering aim. Keywords:          Blood Pressure, Diabetes Mellitus, Drug Related Problems, Hypertension   Abstrak Hipertensi adalah penyakit tidak menular yang menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di dunia dan salah satu penyebab utama kematian. Pemberian terapi farmakologi untuk pasien hipertensi dengan diabetes mellitus sangat beragam, seperti penggunaan obat yang lebih dari satu. Hal ini memungkinkan terjadinya hasil pengobatan yang tidak diharapkan yaitu DRPs. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis Pengaruh DRPs Terhadap Target Penurunan Tekanan Darah Pada Pasien Hipertensi Dengan Diabetes Mellitus. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap seluruh pasien hipertensi dengan diabetes melitus rawat jalan pada bulan Agustus-Oktober tahun 2023 dengan sampel 86. Pengambilan data menggunakan purposive sampling.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ketercapaian tekanan darah sebanyak 41 (47,68%). Hasil kejadian DRPs meliputi indikasi tanpa terapi 13 (3,43%), Terapi tanpa indikasi 16 (4,23%), Interaksi obat 349 (92,32%). Hasil uji statistik Mann whitney didapatkan nilai p=0,947. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh kejadian DRPs terhadap target penurunan tekanan darah. Kata Kunci:         Diabetes Mellitus, Drug Related Problems, Hipertensi, Tekanan Darah

Abstract

The goal is to maintain beauty as desired by most women, especially middle-aged and elderly women and prevent diseases associated with collagen deficiency in the body. The method used is presentation, question and answer/discussion and mentoring (in the form of practice and evaluation) with preparation carried out for 2 months and mentoring carried out for 4 months. The result was that community service activities through training and assistance in making collagen drinks received enthusiasm and quite a good response from a total of 148 participants who attended the Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan auditorium and entered the room on the Zoom’s webinar. It is hoped that the Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) on the Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan can use this activity as a start to making collagen drink products from herbal ingredients and marine sources that are in demand by young people and the environment around the campus. Apart from that, it can be sold freely as a substitute for collagen drinks made from synthetic or chemical ingredients. Then, the general public who participates is expected to be able to make collagen drinks independently at home.

Abstract

Giving drug to patients or people who have been diagnosed with a disease is very rarely given as a pure active ingredient so most drugs are given in a dosage form. One form of drug dosage preferred by adult patients is a solid dosage form in the form of tablet. The aim is to increase understanding and technical abilities of pharmacy students in tablet manufacturing and tablet quality control. The method used was theoretical, practical and final evaluation which was carried out on 18 pharmacy students in the Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory on the Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan. The result was the community service activities through training in tablet making and tablet quality control received enthusiasm and good responses from a total of 18 students participating. It is hoped that this training activity will be the beginning of opening up collaboration between the campus and private companies that make legal medicines and state-owned companies in expanding information and knowledge regarding tablet manufacturing and tablet quality control.
