Abstract

This study examines whether four alternative assets Bitcoin, gold, government bonds, and the United States dollar provide protection against declines in the Indonesia Stock Exchange Composite Index (IHSG). The objective is to determine which assets act as hedges for returns and which serve as volatility safe havens during turbulent market conditions. Using daily log returns from February 2022 to April 2025, the study applies simple linear return regressions, volatility regressions constructed from 10-day rolling standard deviations, and 60-day rolling return regressions to capture time-varying relationships. The results show that the US dollar consistently exhibits a negative and statistically significant relationship with IHSG returns, indicating a reliable hedging function. In contrast, government bonds, gold, and Bitcoin display positive return betas, implying pro-cyclical behavior rather than defensive characteristics. In volatility analysis, the US dollar and government bonds record the smallest sensitivity to index volatility, while Bitcoin and gold amplify market risk. Time-varying (rolling) estimates reinforce these patterns: the dollar’s defensive role persists across normal and crisis episodes, whereas the other assets rarely show sustained negative betas. In conclusion, for the observed period and market context, the United States dollar is the most effective hedge against IHSG declines; government bonds contribute to volatility stabilization; gold offers limited diversification benefits; and Bitcoin does not function as a dependable defensive asset in the Indonesian equity market.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how product quality, price perception, and word of mouth (WoM) communication influence Pertamax (RON 92) purchasing decisions at a Pertamina gas station in Pati Regency. The approach used is quantitative with data collection through a questionnaire involving 100 respondents. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method, where respondents are selected based on certain criteria relevant to the study. The collected data were then analyzed using SPSS 25 to test the relationship between variables. The results of the study indicate that product quality and price perception have a significant positive influence on Pertamax purchasing decisions by consumers. In addition, the Word of Mouth (WoM) communication factor is also proven to have a significant positive impact in encouraging purchasing decisions. These findings indicate that product quality, good price perception, and word of mouth recommendations are important factors in influencing consumers in choosing Pertamax at Pertamina gas stations.

Abstract

form of used cooking oil that threatens the village's tourism image. Although the PKK Group handles used cooking oil waste at the household level daily, as frontline actors they lack the skills to transform it into valuable products. This activity aims to empower the PKK Group through increased knowledge about the impacts of used cooking oil, circular economy, and appropriate technology; enhance the technical skills of all participants (13 people) in producing Aqualume candles through hands-on practical learning; process 350ml of used cooking oil waste into 7 units of aesthetically quality eco-friendly souvenir products as creative enterprises supporting the tourism village; and implement the ADDIE model to ensure program effectiveness and sustainability. The implementation method uses ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), which includes needs mapping, appropriate technology design, and practical workshops. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test to measure cognitive understanding and observation of product outcomes. The activity results showed a significant increase in participants' average scores from 40.00 to 100.00 with an N-Gain of 1.00 (high category). All 13 participants mastered the techniques of used cooking oil purification and aesthetic Aqualume candle formulation. This activity demonstrates that the ADDIE model effectively transfers appropriate technology, enhances community learning agility in adopting circular economy innovations, and produces distinctive eco-friendly souveniraq for the tourism village.
