Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental physiological process essential for maintaining mental and physical health. University students, particularly those in demanding academic programs, often experience sleep disturbances that may influence their stress levels. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sleep quality and stress levels among Biology Education students at UIN Walisongo Semarang. A descriptive–analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 36 students selected through proportional random sampling from the 2020–2022 cohorts. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), while stress levels were assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS). Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The findings indicated that most respondents (97.2%) experienced poor sleep quality and moderate stress levels (86.1%). Statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between sleep quality and stress levels (χ² = 0.165, p = 0.920). Although most students experienced poor sleep quality and moderate stress, no significant association was found between these two variables. Further research with a larger and more diverse sample is recommended to confirm these findings and explore additional factors affecting students’ sleep and stress patterns.

Abstract

Teacher performance is the outcome of work reflected in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the teaching and learning process, with its intensity based on work ethics and professional discipline in teaching and learning. This study aims to determine the influence of job stress and job satisfaction on teacher performance. Quantitative methods were employed in this research. The sample consisted of 50 teachers who taught at MTs Dakwah Islamiyah Putri Nurul Hakim in Kediri, West Lombok Regency. The nonprobability sampling technique, specifically total sampling, was used for sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires encompassing the three variables, and multiple regression analysis was employed for data analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is no significant influence of job stress on performance. Abstract

Students in Indonesian boarding schools (pondok pesantren) have longer study hours than those in non-boarding schools. They also interact with the same friends all day. This situation makes them vulnerable to boredom and depression, and they also run the risk of being bullied. Therefore, student well-being in boarding schools needs to be studied further, with peer attachment and academic self-efficacy as predictors. This study aims to examine the effect of peer attachment and academic self-efficacy on the well-being of students attending boarding school. The study uses a quantitative approach with the linear regression method. It involves 284 students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Islamic Junior High School), aged between 13-15 years old, selected using the stratified random sampling method. The data collection instruments employed were the Peer Attachment Scale, Academic Self-efficacy Scale, and School Well-being Scale. The result shows that peer attachment and academic self-efficacy significantly affect school well-being (p < .01, F = 156.181, effective contribution of predictors = 52.3%). It indicates that peer attachment and academic self-efficacy simultaneously significantly influence well-being among students in boarding schools. Students should improve their peer attachment and increase their academic self-efficacy to live well in boarding schools.

Abstract

Recent research provides support for the tripartite framework of meaning in life (MIL). The Three Dimensional Meaning in Life (3DM) Scale is a self-report instrument based on the tripartite framework including coherence, purpose, and significance. The present research tested the psychometric properties of the 3DM with Arabic-speaking adults. This cross-sectional study recruited a total of 516 (428 female) participants in the study through online (e.g., social media) and offline (e.g., contacting academicians at different universities in Egypt) data collection. The confirmatory factor analysis replicated the original three-factor solution to the 3DM. The factor loadings of the three-factor model from .61 to .92. The 3DM subscales had good internal consistency scores ranging from .78 to .85. The bifactor model of the Arabic 3DM did not evidence the unidimensional measurement of the 3DM. The findings demonstrate that the Arabic 3DM is a valid and reliable measure. Future research should examine different types of validity and temporal stability of the 3DM, cultural dimensions on MiL, and similarities and distinctions between the tripartite frameworks across diverse populations among Arabic-speaking people.

Abstract

This study proposed and tested an extended model of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) to understand the determinants of academic cheating using generative AI (GenAI). This model integrates intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as antecedents of the core constructs of TPB, namely attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, to predict cheating intentions and behavior. Quantitative data were collected from 243 undergraduate students in West Java through a survey and analyzed using confirmatory partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The model demonstrated satisfactory global fit (SRMR = .045; NFI = .92), supporting the hypothesized structure. The results indicate that the proposed model can explain significant variance in cheating intentions and behavior. Perceived behavioral control proved to be the strongest predictor of cheating intentions. More importantly, both behavioral intention and perceived behavioral control directly and strongly predicted self-reported academic cheating behavior. This study concluded that the extended TPB is a robust framework for this phenomenon, highlighting the dominant role of perceived behavioral control. Its practical implications emphasize the need for institutional interventions focused on reducing the perceived ease and increasing the perceived risk of GenAI misuse to maintain academic integrity.
