Abstract

This Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) aimed to improve students’ understanding of handball game strategies and their ability to manage pre-competition emotions at the Riau Sports Special School (Sekolah Khusus Olahraga/SKO). The activity was conducted in November 2025 and involved 45 student-athletes from the handball program. The implementation methods included lectures, demonstrations, practice sessions, discussions, and evaluations. The results indicated an improvement in the mastery of basic handball techniques and strategic understanding, as well as an enhancement in students’ ability to manage pre-competition emotions, reflected in increased self-confidence, focus, and mental readiness prior to competition. In addition, students demonstrated a high level of engagement and active participation throughout the activities. Therefore, this community service program made a positive contribution to improving both the technical skills and psychological readiness of SKO Riau students in facing sports competitions.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di UPT SDN 042 Kualu dengan tujuan meningkatkan literasi hukum anak usia sekolah dasar melalui pendekatan edukatif dan interaktif. Latar belakang kegiatan ini berangkat dari rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap pentingnya peraturan serta masih terbatasnya media pembelajaran hukum yang menarik dan sesuai usia anak. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan melalui tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan edukasi hukum berbasis literasi data dan visual, pendampingan guru, serta pembentukan pojok literasi hukum sekolah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan tanpa menggunakan survei atau wawancara, melainkan dengan pendekatan partisipatif langsung melalui kegiatan belajar, permainan edukatif, dan diskusi ringan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kesadaran siswa dalam menaati aturan sekolah, serta meningkatnya peran guru dalam menanamkan nilai hukum dalam proses pembelajaran. Produk kegiatan berupa media pembelajaran hukum dan pojok literasi hukum menjadi sarana edukatif yang berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini berdampak positif terhadap pembentukan karakter sadar hukum sejak dini dan dapat direplikasi di sekolah dasar lainnya.

Abstract

Character education is a fundamental aspect in shaping students' personalities with morals, ethics, and integrity. One approach considered effective in developing character education systematically and based on evidence is research and development (R&D). This article aims to examine the role of research and development in character education, examine relevant R&D models, and map empirical findings of character education research based on scientific publications. The methods used are literature study and document analysis utilizing the Scopus database. The search was conducted using keywords related to research and development and character education, resulting in 2,673 published documents from 1971–2025. The results of the study indicate that research and development in character education is growing rapidly, with the United States and Indonesia as the most productive countries. Various R&D products developed include character education models, modules, assessment instruments, and technology-based learning media. However, research and development in character education still faces challenges, particularly in objective character measurement and consistent implementation across institutions. Therefore, methodological innovation and strengthening assessment instruments are essential to improve the effectiveness of character education in the future.
