Abstract

The purpose of this community service project is to provide guidance to the teachers of SMAN 1 Pajangan in creating educational Kahoot games. Subject matter experts at the school participated in the program, which took place in August. Various types of educational games, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as recent research on the benefits of using educational games for learning, were covered in the introduction to this activity. Additionally, the main objective of this community service is to offer fresh insights to the teachers of SMAN 1 Pajangan on the advantages of Kahoot educational games, the features of the website, and how to create them. The method used in this community service involved three stages: the pre-activity stage, the activity implementation stage, and the post-activity stage. The outcome of this training is to make teachers more creative in developing teaching modules that will be delivered to students, thereby enhancing student learning outcomes, accelerating material comprehension, making learning more engaging and less monotonous, and increasing learning interest. The conclusion of this community service is that it equips teachers to utilize Kahoot as a learning medium. It is recommended for educators to develop their teaching processes by incorporating Kahoot as a medium.

Abstract

Most studies treat mathematics learning interest as a single composite construct linked to learning outcomes, without first testing whether its constituent indicators, namely enjoyment, attraction, attention, and engagement, are themselves statistically interrelated. This study addresses that gap by examining the strength of pairwise associations among these indicators and their overall concordance. A quantitative, cross-sectional correlational design was employed using data from 53 seventh-grade students at a junior high school in Yogyakarta, selected through simple random sampling. Because the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test indicated that three of the four indicators departed from normality, non-parametric tests were applied: Kendall's tau-b for pairwise correlation and Kendall's W for overall concordance. The results show that only three of six indicator pairs were significantly and fairly associated, enjoyment-attraction (τb = 0.463), attraction-attention (τb = 0.281), and attraction-engagement (τb = 0.258), while the remaining three pairs showed very weak, non-significant associations. Kendall's W of 0.264 (statistically significant) indicates that the four indicators exhibit real but modest overall concordance. These findings offer both methodological and practical contributions: aggregated interest scores may obscure heterogeneous student profiles, so diagnosis and instructional intervention should target specific indicators, with attraction serving as the most central connective dimension, rather than treating learning interest as a homogeneous construct.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of learning independence and Intelligence Quotient (IQ) on students’ mathematical creative thinking skills. The research employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design and was conducted at SMPN 5 Purworejo during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The population comprised seventh-grade students, from whom 32 participants were selected through purposive sampling based on the availability of official IQ test results from a professional psychological institution. The research instruments included an essay test measuring creative thinking skills based on four indicators, namely fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality; a learning independence questionnaire covering six assessment aspects; and documentation of students’ IQ scores. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, prerequisite testing, and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 25. The results showed that learning independence and IQ significantly affected students’ mathematical creative thinking skills, both partially and simultaneously. Learning independence had a more dominant effect than IQ. Together, both variables explained 92.5% of the variance in students’ mathematical creative thinking skills.
