Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires active patient participation in self-management to prevent complications and maintain optimal and sustainable quality of life. This study aims to explore knowledge and attitudes about self-management in patients with type 2 DM. This study used a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted at Puskesmas Medan Johor Pangkalan Masyhur, Medan Johor Sub-district, in 2024. The study population was all type 2 DM patients aged 40 to 60 years, totalling 213 people. A sample of 102 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge and attitude of patients with type 2 diabetes. The data obtained were then processed and analyzed descriptively to determine the frequency distribution of each variable studied. The results showed that as many as 55.9% of patients with type 2 DM had poor knowledge about self-management, and 44.1% had good knowledge. A total of 23.5% of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus had a negative attitude, and 76.6% had a positive attitude. The conclusion is that most type 2 DM patients have poor knowledge about self-management, although the majority show a positive attitude.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: antenatal care, kepatuhan, ibu hamil, protokol kesehatanThe research was conducted quantitatively using cross-sectional with a sample of 61 pregnant women. This study used chi-square test analysis data method purposive sampling technique with ρ-value (ρ<0,05) and logistic regression with sig. (ρ<0,05) to find the variables most related to Antenatal Care examinations during the COVID-19 Pandemic at the Gunung Tinggi Health Center, Pancur Batu District. The results of the SPPS statistical test in this study showed the proportion of each variable anxiety (ρ=0,047), education (ρ=0,038), knowledge (ρ=0,036), distance of residence (ρ=0,063), family support (ρ=0,024), and socialization of health protocols by health workers (ρ=0,038). The bivariate analysis showed that there is a relationship between the variables of anxiety, education, knowledge, and socialization of health protocols by health workers, while the variable distance of residence there is no relationship. In the multivariate analysis of education and socialization of health protocols by health workers variables showed a very significant relationship. Keywords: antenatal care, compliance, pregnant women, health protocols

Abstract

Food consumption is one of the direct causes of nutritional status. The Ministry of National Development Planning in 2019 reported that almost half of the population or 45.7 percent of the population is very poor in energy allowances and 36.1 percent of the population is low in protein allowances. Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office in 2019 presented the results of monitoring nutritional status which showed the three districts with the highest stunted of children under five, namely Gunung Sitoli, West Nias, and Samosir. The districts with the most underweight of children under five are West Nias, Central Tapanuli, and North Nias. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between food consumption and the nutritional status of children under five at Pasar Lahewa Village, Lahewa Sub-District, in North Nias District, which was selected purposively. This type of research is descriptive analytic, cross sectional design. The food consumption data of sixty children under five were collected using the 24-Hour Food Recall Method for three non-consecutive days, anthropometric nutritional status with Body Weight Index according to Height or Body Length. The results showed that the largest contribution of energy and protein samples came from rice, powdered milk, chicken, fish, eggs, tofu, tempeh, potatoes, noodles, and biscuits. Most of the samples were categorized as well consumption and normal nutritional status. The Chi-Square test produces a p-value of 0.003 (p<α (0.05) which means Ho is rejected so that it can be stated that there is a relationship between food consumption and the nutritional status of children under five at Pasar Lahewa Village, Lahewa District in North Nias District. The results are expected can be used by the leadership and staff of the Lahewa District Health Center to plan nutrition improvement programs. Similar research needs to be carried out in other villages within the working area of the Lahewa District Health Center, to obtain and enrich data in planning program to improve food consumption and nutritional status of children under five.
