Abstract

This study aims to reveal how the semantic level in the verses of monotheism in Surah Al-Mulk is employed to reinforce the impression of monotheism. The focus of the study is directed toward the selection of diction, polysemy, synonymy, and antonymy that carry profound meanings related to this monotheistic impression. This research adopts a qualitative method with a content analysis approach applied to the verses of Surah Al-Mulk, using tafsir sources from Tafsīr Al-Miṣbāḥ, Al-Marāghī, Al-Munīr, Al-Kashshāf, Ibn Kathīr, Al-Muyassar, and Tafsīr Al-Qurṭubī. The analysis is conducted by selecting the tafsir that most closely aligns with the meaning of the word under study, ensuring that the explanations remain focused and consistent. The findings indicate that the choice of words in Surah Al-Mulk is not coincidental but intentional and strategic in affirming the power and oneness of Allah, as seen in the use of the words يَد (power), أَفْئِدَةٌ (heart), and the antonym pair الْمَوْت – الْحَيَاة (death–life), which strengthen the monotheistic impression. These findings affirm that the rhetorical power of the Qur’anic language at the semantic level can convey the impression of monotheism in a profound and effective manner, while also contributing to the study of Qur’anic stylistics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the stylistics of the story of Prophet Musa and Khiḍr in Surah Al-Kahf, verses 60–82, focusing on morphological and semantic aspects. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach and content analysis. The data was collected through documentation techniques from primary sources such as Qur'anic verses and secondary sources such as tafsīr books, dictionaries, and relevant previous studies. The study results show that the morphological aspects of this story include letter omission, the choice of indefinite words, specific word patterns and forms, and shifts in pronouns, which create profound effects and impressions such as urgency, uniqueness, sincerity, brevity, broad meaning, and politeness. Meanwhile, from a semantic aspect, using synonyms, antonyms, and polysemy highlights the precision of word choice and enhances the message's clarity. These stylistic elements contribute to the beauty and persuasive power of the Qur'an, thereby deepening its meaning. This study emphasizes the importance of stylistic analysis in understanding the beauty of language, particularly in terms of word choice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the extent to which Arabic learning videos available on YouTube adhere to Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis as the primary approach. A total of ten Arabic instructional videos were purposively selected and evaluated based on the presence of each of Gagne’s instructional steps. The results show that only two out of ten videos fulfilled more than six of Gagne’s stages, while the rest met only three to five stages. The most frequently observed stages were “presenting the stimulus” and “providing feedback,” whereas key initial stages such as “gaining attention” and “informing learners of objectives” were frequently omitted. These findings suggest that most Arabic learning videos lack a structured instructional design, which may impact the effectiveness of learning. The study highlights the importance of incorporating a comprehensive instructional framework when designing educational content, particularly for language acquisition. It also emphasizes the need for content creators to be trained in instructional design principles. This research recommends the development of more pedagogically sound learning videos that fully implement Gagne’s model to enhance the quality of digital Arabic language instruction.
