Abstract

Stunting is the inadequate intake of nutrients from the womb in children until the age of five, which is characterized by stunted height. As a result of these chronic malnutrition conditions, it can systemically inhibit the development of children in the first two years of life so that children become stunted.  This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design conducted at the Sicanang Medan Health Center. For respondent collection, the sampling procedure was carried out using the total sampling technique on stunting data from the Sicanang Medan Health Center. Analysis was carried out with descriptive, bivariate and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression analysis test. The analysis was carried out to find the most influential risk factors for the incidence of stunting cases at the Sicanang Health Center.  The results of multivariate analysis by considering confounding factors showed that the most influential factors on the incidence of stunting were mothers who married too young (aOR = 0.64; 95% CI = 0.21-1.49; p-value = 0.046) and child spacing below 2 years young (aOR = 1.53; 95% CI = 0.22-2.83; p-value = 0.023).

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of early marriage in Southeast Asia. The lack of knowledge among adolescent girls about the negative impacts of early marriage is a major contributing factor to the high rates of child marriage. Digital educational media, such as e-booklets, are considered effective tools to enhance adolescents' understanding. This study aims to determine the relationship between the provision of education using e-booklet media and the level of knowledge among adolescent girls regarding the risks of early marriage. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The subjects were 53 female students from Primbana Private Senior High School in Medan. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test. Of the 53 respondents, 30 students (56.6%) received e-booklet education, while 23 students (43.4%) did not. A significant relationship was found between e-booklet education and increased knowledge about early marriage (p = 0.049; OR = 3.630; 95% CI: 1.155–11.406). E-booklet education effectively delivers information in a visual and interactive manner, making it easier to understand. Providing education through e-booklets is effective in enhancing adolescent girls' knowledge about early marriage. Active involvement of schools and healthcare facilities is necessary to implement similar educational media sustainably.

Abstract

Breast cancer remains one of the most prevalent and life-threatening diseases worldwide, highlighting the urgent need for accurate and interpretable diagnostic models. While machine learning has shown promise in classification tasks, many existing models lack transparency and overlook the individual contribution of cellular features essential for clinical decision-making.This study proposes an integrative and explainable framework to identify the most influential cellular-level features in distinguishing between benign and malignant breast tumors. Using a publicly available dataset comprising 569 observations and 32 numerical features, we conducted a multi-step analysis. Feature relevance was first evaluated using Pearson correlation. Random Forest and Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) were employed to rank and refine the feature subset, followed by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for dimensionality reduction and pattern visualization. SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) were utilized to interpret individual predictions. Complementary statistical tests, including t-tests and chi-square analyses, assessed associations between tumor characteristics and diagnosis. A logistic regression model was developed to evaluate predictive performance.Key cellular features—such as mean radius, texture, and concavity—were consistently identified as highly predictive of diagnosis. RFE demonstrated that fewer than 10 features were sufficient for optimal classification. The logistic regression model achieved high accuracy, offering a simpler yet effective alternative for prediction.By combining statistical methods with interpretable machine learning, this study presents a transparent and clinically relevant approach to breast cancer diagnosis. The integration of SHAP values bridges the gap between model performance and interpretability, supporting more informed and personalized clinical decisions. Future work should consider external validation, image-based features, and patient demographic variables to enhance generalizability.
