Abstract

Primary school teachers need to have technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and content knowledge in online teaching. TPACK is an integrative and transformative knowledge that teachers need to use technology effectively and efficiently in the classroom. This article investigates primary school teachers' perceptions of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) competencies in implementing online learning due to the pandemic COVID-19. The sample in this study were 117 primary school teachers in North Sulawesi province. The method used is a quantitative descriptive approach. Data was collected using a questionnaire on a Likert scale developed in Google Form. The results showed that most primary school teachers in North Sulawesi, Indonesia, already had TPACK competencies in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even so, TPACK competencies are in need to be improved in the abilities of TK and PK. The correlation results between the TPACK constructs also showed that the PK and TPK components had a significant effect on TPACK primary school teachers' perception of online learning. It was also found that there was no significant difference between gender and TPACK competency of primary school teachers.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the trend and development of research about the mathematics concept in elementary schools in Indonesia. This study was a literature review research using bibliometric analysis. The exploration process of the articles’ published results was taken through an open-access website such as google scholar database for the last ten years. The exploration of articles published results used Harzing’s Publish or Perish software with the keywords “Konsep Dasar Matematika Sekolah Dasar” and “Mathematics Concept in Elementary School”. The results of the exploration process were analyzed by using VOSviewer software for visualization and relationship for all of the research results. This study’s results showed there were 1185 articles had been published based on articles exploration criteria. After reducing the data, there were 37 articles with the relevant criteria. The bibliometric analysis results of the relevant articles were the understanding of student mathematics concepts in elementary school, the pre-service students and teacher knowledge about the mathematics concept in elementary school, and the solution for improving students’ understanding of mathematics concepts in elementary school

Abstract

Atap Tongkonan Tanete, rumah adat masyarakat Toraja di Sulawesi Selatan, merupakan warisan budaya yang kaya akan nilai filosofis dan estetika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur atap Tongkonan dari perspektif sains, khususnya melalui konsep kesetimbangan benda tegar dan integral. Untuk menganalisis prinsip-prinsip fisika dan matematika yang mendasari desainnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif – deskriptif yang menggabungkan observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan pemangku kepentingan lokal, dan studi literatur tentang arsitektur Tongkonan dan prinsip-prinsip fisika. Data dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak GeoGebra untuk memodelkan bentuk atap sebagai fungsi kuadrat dan menghitung luas area bawah serta panjang kurva dengan menggunakan integral. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa bentuk lengkung atap Tongkonan memastikan distribusi beban yang merata. Analisis ini membuktikan bahwa kearifan lokal masyarakat Toraja dalam membangun Tongkonan mengintegrasikan prinsip-prinsip fisika dan matematika.

Abstract

The STEM-Robotics training at YPPK St. Thomas Aquino Junior High School in Kaimana, West Papua, was conducted to address teachers' low understanding of STEM and coding concepts and the suboptimal utilization of robotics facilities in schools. This program aims to improve teachers' understanding of STEM learning, coding competency, and attitudes toward the implementation of STEM-Coding. The program was implemented using a service-learning approach involving 28 teachers, 4 lecturers, and 3 students across five stages: needs identification, collaborative planning, practice-based implementation, critical reflection, and evaluation. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The training results showed that teachers' understanding of STEM learning reached 52% in the moderate category and 48% in the high category. Teachers' understanding of coding reached 4% in the moderate category and 96% in the high category. In comparison, positive attitudes toward STEM-Coding learning reached 11% in the moderate category and 89% in the high category. Overall, all program success indicators were met, with more than 85% of teachers in the moderate-to-high category across all measured aspects. This program is effective in improving teacher competency and supporting the development of technology-based learning in areas with limited access to education.   Abstrak Pelatihan STEM-Robotics di SMP YPPK St. Thomas Aquino Kaimana, Papua Barat, dilaksanakan untuk mengatasi rendahnya pemahaman guru terhadap konsep STEM dan coding serta belum optimalnya pemanfaatan fasilitas robotik di sekolah. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman guru tentang pembelajaran STEM, kompetensi coding, serta sikap terhadap implementasi STEM-Coding. Program dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan service learning yang melibatkan 28 guru, 4 dosen, dan 3 mahasiswa melalui lima tahapan, yaitu identifikasi kebutuhan, perencanaan kolaboratif, pelaksanaan berbasis praktik, refleksi kritis, dan evaluasi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang telah divalidasi dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman guru terhadap pembelajaran STEM mencapai 52% pada kategori sedang dan 48% pada kategori tinggi. Pemahaman guru terhadap coding mencapai 4% pada kategori sedang dan 96% pada kategori tinggi, sedangkan sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran STEM-Coding mencapai 11% pada kategori sedang dan 89% pada kategori tinggi. Secara keseluruhan, seluruh indikator keberhasilan program tercapai dengan lebih dari 85% guru berada pada kategori sedang hingga tinggi pada seluruh aspek yang diukur. Program ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan mendukung pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis teknologi di wilayah dengan keterbatasan akses pendidikan. Abstract

Faktor afektif memiliki peran penting dalam keberhasilan pembelajaran matematika, namun kajian mengenai perbedaan gender pada aspek afektif masih menunjukkan hasil yang beragam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan gender dalam sikap terhadap matematika dan keuletan siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain komparatif. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas 120 siswa sekolah menengah pertama yang meliputi 60 siswa laki-laki dan 60 siswa perempuan. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner sikap terhadap matematika dan keuletan yang telah memenuhi kriteria reliabilitas. Analisis data dilakukan melalui statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas Shapiro–Wilk, uji homogenitas Levene, dan independent samples t-test yang dilengkapi dengan ukuran efek Cohen’s d. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa perempuan memiliki rata-rata skor sikap terhadap matematika dan keuletan yang sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa laki-laki. Namun, tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan berdasarkan gender pada sikap terhadap matematika (p = 0,156) maupun keuletan (p = 0,187). Ukuran efek yang diperoleh juga berada pada kategori kecil. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengalaman afektif siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika cenderung relatif setara antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Oleh karena itu, pengembangan sikap positif dan keuletan perlu dilakukan secara inklusif tanpa membedakan gender.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types and causes of errors made by ninth-grade high-achieving students at SMP Yapis Manokwari in solving Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) problems based on Kastolan’s Theory. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through written tests, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of SPLDV test items and interview guidelines that had been validated by two Mathematics Education lecturers. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that high-achieving students still made conceptual, procedural, and technical errors in solving SPLDV problems. Conceptual errors were indicated by students’ inability to translate word problems into appropriate mathematical models. Procedural errors were reflected in the incorrect application of solution steps and the failure to complete the solution process. Technical errors were identified through mistakes in arithmetic operations. The causes of these errors included internal factors, such as a lack of conceptual understanding, weak computational skills, low accuracy, and forgetting solution procedures, as well as external factors, including poor study habits, lack of material review, teaching methods, and an unconducive learning environment. In conclusion, high-achieving students are still prone to making errors in solving SPLDV problems despite having good academic performance.   Keyword : Student Errors, SPLDV, Kastolan Theory, High-Achieving Students

Abstract

This research aims to analyze college students’ problem-solving abilities in solving non-routine promblems on the topic of limits. The type of research employed is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were 15 mathematics students at Universitas Papua. From the total subjects, 4 students were selected using a purposive sampling technique as focus subjects for in depth interviews, consisting of two subjects from the moderate category and two subjects from the low category. Data analysis was conducted based on Polya’s problem-solving stages: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. The results indicated that the majority of students were in the low ability category (12 students) and the remaining were in the moderate category (3 students0. Moderate category subjects were able to understand the problem well and write down fairly systematic resolution steps, but lacked precision in final execution. Meanwhile, low category subjects showed effort to resolve the problems but faced major obstacles during the stages of devising and carrying out plans due to weak understanding of prerequisite concepts, and all subjects tended to neglect the looking-back stage. In conclusion, students’ problem-solving ability in solving non-routine limit problems is dominated by the low category. Learning approaches that habituate students to solving non-routine tasks and strengthening metacognitive aspects in re-evaluating their work are highly required.   Keywords: Problem-Solving Ability, Non-Routine Problems, Limit, Polya

Abstract

This survey study aims to describe the simultaneous impact of students’ attitude towards mathematics and tenacity towards learning achievement and the partial effect of students’ attitude towards mathematics and tenacity on learning achievement in mathematics. The population of this research was the students of 11th students of public school in Ngaglik, Yogyakarta, Indonesia with 122 students as sample selected by simple random sampling technique. The data collection of students’ attitudes towards mathematics and tenacity were obtained using Likert-scale questionnaire. The questionnaires used in this study are valid and reliable. The data was analyzed using parametric statistics, which was multiple regression. The research results show that: 1) there was significant simultaneous impact on students’ attitude towards mathematics and tenacity towards mathematics learning achievement; 2) there was no significant impact given by students’ attitude towards mathematics learning achievement; 3) there was significant impact given by tenacity towards mathematics learning achievement. Abstract

Meskipun studi terdahulu telah mendokumentasikan tingginya tingkat kesalahan mahasiswa pada materi sistem bilangan riil, terdapat kesenjangan empiris yang signifikan mengenai mekanisme kognitif dan faktor kausal yang memicu persistensi miskonsepsi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam diskrepansi antara concept image dan concept definition serta merumuskan hubungan antara faktor internal, eksternal, dan pembentukan hambatan kognitif pada calon guru matematika. Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini melibatkan 26 mahasiswa semester pertama, dengan tiga subjek dipilih secara purposive berdasarkan tingkat kesalahan tertinggi untuk wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Analisis data mengadaptasi model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña melalui triangulasi metode. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa 100% subjek mengalami kesulitan pada sifat aljabar dan 96% pada translasi notasi interval. Kesalahan konsep mendominasi akibat kegagalan membedakan klasifikasi bilangan dengan sifat operasi, sementara kesalahan prosedur terjadi karena dominasi pemahaman instrumental tanpa landasan relasional. Hambatan ini dipertahankan oleh kolaborasi antara lemahnya kemampuan berpikir abstrak sebagai faktor internal dan minimnya scaffolding visual dari metode perkuliahan sebagai faktor eksternal. Secara teoretis, studi ini menawarkan pemahaman baru mengenai bagaimana diskrepansi concept image-concept definition berkolaborasi dengan faktor eksternal dalam mempertahankan miskonsepsi. Secara analitis, temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa intervensi perkuliahan harus secara eksplisit merekayasa scaffolding visual untuk menjembatani struktur kognitif mahasiswa yang terfragmentasi, alih-alih sekadar menyampaikan definisi formal.
