Abstract

It is not a violation of the code of ethics for physiotherapists who wish to work in the field of occupational health and ergonomics, as the field of ergonomics requires knowledge of anatomy, anthropometry, physiology, and biomechanics, all of which are required knowledge for graduates of physiotherapy study programs. Under these circumstances, it can be said that physiotherapy is prepared and linear to work in the field of occupational health and ergonomics. This study aims to apply physiotherapy-based interventions to occupational health and ergonomics issues in stone crushers. This investigation is an experimental study employing the same subject design (treatment by subject design), which is comprised of Periods I and II. There were fourteen respondents to the study. On the dorsalis pedis artery, the 10-pulse method is utilized to calculate the workload. Hand and arm musculoskeletal complaints were measured using a 100mm visual analog scale. Wrist splints, short breaks of 5 minutes every 55 minutes of work, and stretching every 2 hours of work had no effect on reducing workers' pain complaints, but reduced their workload by 11,29 % significantly. There is a need for more specific research to determine whether workers suffer from more serious health issues or chronic diseases.

Abstract

Background : Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a collection of symptoms that appear along the median nerve innervation area, caused by compression or pressure on the (median) nerve in the wrist area or carpal tunnel. Neurodynamic mobilization exercises are tension (stretching) and sliding (sliding) techniques to move the nerve structures proximal and distal parts of the nerve, involving the spine (neck) and hands). Myofascial release is a therapeutic method using the hands to release adhesions or bonds in myofascial tissue. This research aims to prove application of mobilization neurodynamics in repair complaints Method: This study Uses an experimental pretest-posttest control group design. Amount subject study 16 people divided into two groups, group treatment 1 was given intervention practice mobilization neurodynamics, and group treatment 2 was given myofascial release. Intervention gave 3 per week for 4 weeks. The instrument study uses Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ). Result: Measurement result complaint pretest and posttest on groups treatment 1 and treatment 2 equally showing repair with p-value 0.000. Comparison test results effectiveness showing a meaningful difference where practice mobilization neurodynamics better in repair CTS complaints with p-value 0.000. Conclusion: Mobilization exercise neurodynamics and myofascial release both can provide repair, however, practice mobilization neurodynamics has proven better inside repair complaints against workers buildings experiencing CTS.

Abstract

Introduction: Stress is a common psychological problem faced by nurses in Indonesia during the pandemic, especially ER and ICU. This study aims to analyse the effect of diaphragmatic breathing exercises on reducing stress levels in nurses by using the NaDa Android Application. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test with a control group design. A total of 33 nurses in the Emergency room (17) and the Intensive Care Unit (16) were recruited by using purposive sampling. The control group was given health education and diaphragmatic breathing while the intervention group practiced diaphragmatic breathing using the NaDa Android application for 12 weeks. The data were collected by Perceived Stress Scale-10 and then analysed using a t-test. Result: The average stress level among nurses in the intervention group was 17.53 which reduced to 12,94. The average stress level among nurses in the control group was 21.06 which reduced to 19.88. There was no significant effect on the control group who practiced diaphragmatic breathing (p=0.061). In contrast with the intervention group who have a significant effect regarding stress reduction (p=0.000). The diaphragmatic breathing exercises by Nada Application had an effect on decreasing the stress levels among nurses compared to the respondents in the control group (p=0.000). Conclusion: Diaphragmatic breathing exercises can be recommended to nurses to help them cope with psychological stress and to provide relaxation responses. It also can be an alternative prevention of psychological disorders such as high stress, reducing the use of pharmacological therapy in preventing stress and anxiety.

Abstract

Abstract

Ankle sprains are one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries in active adolescents, especially high school students who regularly participate in sports activities. Lack of knowledge about early treatment and injury prevention strategies can increase the risk of complications and recurrence. This service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of high school students in Banjarmasin City in the initial handling and prevention of ankle sprain injuries through a participatory educational approach. The implementation method uses a combination of interactive lectures, demonstrations, and re-demonstrations with a pre-test–post-test group design. A total of 60 students were purposively selected as participants, and data were collected using multiple-choice questionnaire instruments to measure the level of knowledge before and after the activity. The analysis was carried out descriptively by comparing the frequency and percentage of correct answers in the pre-test and post-test. The results showed a substantial improvement in the level of knowledge, from the majority of participants in the low category (65%) to high (90%) after the intervention. In addition, 85% of participants were able to demonstrate the RICE/PRICES technique correctly and demonstrated a good understanding of the principles of injury prevention. These findings prove that participatory educational approaches are effective in improving students' preparedness and ability to handle minor sports injuries. These service activities contribute practically to improving sports health literacy in the school environment and theoretically strengthen the application of evidence-based physiotherapy in the context of community health promotion.
