Abstract

Behaviorism, psychoanalysis, and humanism are three distinct theoretical paradigms in psychology. Each paradigm provides valuable insights and has important implications for psychological research and practice. Understanding the philosophical differences between the three is essential to apply them appropriately both in research and practice. This study aims to examine the ontological and epistemological foundations of the three paradigms, as well as their opportunities and limitations in psychological research and practice. The methodology used is a literature review. The results of this study describe the ontological assumptions of behaviorism, which is based on materialism and environmental determinism; psychoanalysis, which is rooted in transcendental idealism and psychic determinism; and humanism, which emphasizes free will and subjective experience. In terms of epistemology, this study explains that behaviorism adopts an empiricist approach (logical positivism), humanism uses phenomenology, and psychoanalysis uses hermeneutics or epistemological modesty. The differences in the three paradigms' philosophical foundations have implications for each paradigm's opportunities and limitations in psychological research and practice.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of gadget addiction on adolescent mental health, focusing on real-world and virtual interactions. A qualitative case study approach involved two male adolescents aged 16–18 years who experienced symptoms of gadget addiction and two parents as supporting informants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then thematically analyzed to identify usage patterns, psychological impacts, and contributing factors to dependency. Results indicate that respondents used gadgets 10–14 hours per day for online gaming and social media, primarily as an escape from family problems and academic pressures. Impacts include social anxiety, decreased emotional regulation, sleep disturbances, and identity dissociation. Environmental factors such as family conflict, lack of supervision, and addictive technology design exacerbate the condition. The findings confirm that excessive gadget use reduces real-world social interactions and hinders psychosocial development through avoidance coping and the search for digital validation. The study recommends holistic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotional digital literacy, and family environmental modifications, with implications for school-based prevention programs and more responsible technology design policies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi strategi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar anak dengan disleksia di sekolah inklusif serta dampaknya terhadap pembelajaran dan perkembangan siswa. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologi, dimana penelitian ini berfokus pada pengalaman subjektif guru (5 guru) dalam mengajar anak disleksia, melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menerapkan berbagai strategi, seperti pendekatan multisensori, pembelajaran kolaboratif, serta penguatan positif dan motivasi. Strategi-strategi ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca, menulis, dan mengeja anak disleksia, serta mendukung perkembangan sosial dan emosional mereka. Namun, guru juga menghadapi tantangan seperti keterbatasan pengetahuan tentang disleksia, kurangnya sumber daya, dan beban kerja yang tinggi. Untuk mengatasi tantangan ini, guru membutuhkan dukungan berupa pelatihan profesional, akses ke alat bantu, dan kebijakan yang mendukung. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa strategi pengajaran yang inklusif dan mendukung sangat penting untuk keberhasilan anak disleksia. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan pendidikan inklusif di Indonesia dan mendorong terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang lebih adil dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan semua siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari fenomena meningkatnya jumlah mahasiswa perantau yang dihadapkan pada tantangan perbedaan budaya, lingkungan sosial, dan tuntutan akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap adaptasi kultural mahasiswa perantau yang menempuh pendidikan di luar daerah asalnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap 3 mahasiswa perantau tingkat dua ke atas yang memiliki pengalaman berinteraksi dengan budaya berbeda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional berperan penting dalam proses adaptasi kultural, khususnya melalui kemampuan kesadaran diri, pengelolaan emosi, empati, motivasi, dan keterampilan sosial. Mahasiswa dengan kecerdasan emosional tinggi mampu memahami perasaan diri dan orang lain, mengelola stres akibat perbedaan budaya, serta menjalin hubungan sosial yang positif di lingkungan baru. Sebaliknya, mahasiswa dengan kecerdasan emosional rendah cenderung mengalami kesulitan beradaptasi dan merasa terasing. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional menjadi faktor penting yang memengaruhi keberhasilan mahasiswa perantau dalam menyesuaikan diri secara emosional dan sosial terhadap budaya baru, sehingga mampu berfungsi optimal dalam kehidupan akademik maupun sosialnya.

Abstract

Keluarga single parent menjadi fenomena yang semakin umum terjadi di masyarakat dan membawa dinamika tersendiri dalam hubungan antara orang tua dan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pola interaksi antara ibu dan anak dalam keluarga single parent di Aceh Besar. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologis, yang berfokus pada pengalaman subjektif ibu tunggal dan anak remajanya dalam membangun komunikasi dan kelekatan emosional. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan dokumentasi terhadap 3 pasangan ibu dan anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola interaksi ibu-anak didominasi oleh komunikasi terbuka, kehangatan emosional, serta strategi pengasuhan yang adaptif. Meskipun para ibu menghadapi tantangan peran ganda, tekanan ekonomi, dan keterbatasan waktu, mereka mampu menjaga kedekatan emosional dengan anak melalui perhatian sederhana dan dukungan emosional. Anak-anak dari keluarga single parent menunjukkan sikap mandiri, empatik, dan memiliki tanggung jawab tinggi terhadap ibunya. Secara keseluruhan, pola interaksi yang positif antara ibu dan anak menjadi faktor penting dalam membentuk kesejahteraan psikologis dan penyesuaian sosial anak, meskipun tanpa kehadiran sosok ayah dalam keluarga.

Abstract

Cases of bullying can occur at all levels of education, from elementary to tertiary levels. Bullying in schools is a serious social problem that must be paid full attention to by the school, especially the principal who leads the school. The purpose of this research is to explore how principals deal with bullying in their schools. The research was conducted in schools where bullying had occurred. Qualitative methods and purposive sampling were used in this study. Three principals were selected and became research participants, the three participants came from two elementary schools and one senior high school. There are three main themes obtained from the results of this study. The first theme is knowing the causes of bullying in schools. The second theme is implementing intervention strategies to prevent bullying in schools. The third theme is the role of the principal in overcoming bullying in schools. Recommendations in this study are given to assist school principals and the entire School Management Team in managing bullying in schools. The first recommendation is that all schools must have a policy on how to deal with bullying in schools, and this policy must be communicated to all educators and students in schools. Consequences for not complying with the policy must be implemented. Second, hold regular meetings with parents to discuss student behavior. Third, sensitive to strange events around and paying attention to the target and the culprit. In conclusion, the principals did their best to implement several strategies to solve the bullying problem.

Abstract

Women and children in many countries are forced to migrate due to prolonged civil wars and conflicts. The factors and conditions that affect the well-being of immigrant and refugee populations residing in host countries are not widely known. This study aims to identify and explore the personal experiences and migration processes that affect the well-being of immigrant women in Indonesia. A qualitative method and case study design were implemented. Eight refugee women from three different countries were interviewed: Somalia, Palestine, and Afghanistan. It was found that the contexts of identification, personal experiences, the migration process, and the motives or triggers for migration were important factors in influencing the women’s present and future well-being. The study provides implications for the theory of the model used. The application of the theory assisted the researchers to construct a conceptual framework of the subjective well-being of immigrant women.

Abstract

Ujian merupakan salah satu momen penting dalam kehidupan akademik mahasiswa yang sering menimbulkan tekanan psikologis. Banyak mahasiswa mengalami kecemasan akibat tuntutan nilai, ekspektasi keluarga, serta persaingan akademik. Dalam situasi ini, dukungan sosial menjadi faktor protektif yang dapat membantu mahasiswa mengelola kecemasan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami secara mendalam fenomena dukungan sosial terhadap tingkat kecemasan pada mahasiswa saat menghadapi ujian. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologis, berfokus pada pengalaman subjektif mahasiswa dalam menerima dukungan sosial dan dampaknya terhadap kecemasan ujian. Subjek penelitian menggunakan 3 mahasiswa aktif yang pernah mengalami kecemasan menjelang ujian, dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dukungan sosial yang diterima mahasiswa, baik dari keluarga, teman sebaya, maupun dosen, berperan penting dalam menurunkan tingkat kecemasan. Dukungan tersebut meliputi dukungan emosional, informasional, instrumental, dan penghargaan yang menumbuhkan rasa tenang, percaya diri, serta kesiapan menghadapi ujian. Semakin tinggi dukungan sosial yang diperoleh mahasiswa, semakin rendah tingkat kecemasan yang dialami. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa interaksi sosial yang positif menjadi elemen penting dalam menjaga kesejahteraan psikologis mahasiswa dan dapat dijadikan dasar bagi institusi pendidikan dalam merancang program pendampingan akademik yang lebih suportif.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the experiences of students with introverted personalities in carrying out self-disclosure (Self-disclosure) in two interaction contexts, namely the real world (face to face) and the virtual world (online). This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods that focus on subjective meaning of participants' experiences. The research subjects consisted of three Muhammadiyah University of Aceh students who had introverted personality tendencies and actively used social media. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and non-participant observations, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Results show that introverted students find it easier to open up in cyberspace due to a sense of security, privacy, anonymity and control over self-expression, whereas in the real world self-openness is limited and selective. Cyberspace provides a safe space for expressing thoughts and feelings, while the real world becomes a means of building more authentic social relationships. The balance of self-openness in both contexts plays an important role in supporting healthy communication and the psychological well-being of introverted students.

Abstract

Gangguan perilaku pada anak tunalaras sering kali berakar pada hubungan kelekatan yang tidak aman antara anak dan orangtua, yang dipengaruhi oleh dinamika keluarga yang tidak harmonis dan lingkungan sosial yang disfungsional. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap 55 responden. Data dianalisis secara tematik untuk mengidentifikasi pola kelekatan, latar belakang keluarga, dan pemicu perilaku delinkuen. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mayoritas responden berasal dari keluarga dengan ekonomi menengah ke bawah (81,8%) dan mengalami pola pengasuhan tidak harmonis (58,2%), ditandai dengan konflik kronis, broken home, dan pengabaian emosional. Dinamika kelekatan didominasi pola tidak aman (insecure attachment), dimana 58,2% responden merasa tidak dipahami keluarga dan 40% beralih mencari dukungan pada figur di luar orangtua. Temuan utama menunjukkan pemicu utama konflik dengan hukum adalah kasus hubungan seksual yang dilaporkan sebagai pemerkosaan (45,5%), ini merefleksikan benturan antara norma sosial dan otonomi remaja, kemudian diikuti tindakan properti crime yang didorong faktor ekonomi. Hasil penelitian attachment figure shifting dalam kajian ini juga mendorong pengembangan model layanan konseling berbasis hubungan terapeutik yang hangat, empatik, dan konsisten, bagi anak yang kehilangan dukungan emosional dari orangtua. Secara praktis, implikasi penelitian ini menjadi dasar untuk mengembangkan layanan konseling keluarga dan konseling berbasis trauma di lembaga pendidikan maupun lembaga rehabilitasi anak.Abstract: Behavioral disorders in children with mental retardation are often rooted in insecure attachment relationships between children and parents, influenced by disharmonious family dynamics and a dysfunctional social environment. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design through in-depth interviews with 55 respondents. Data were analyzed thematically to identify attachment patterns, family backgrounds, and triggers of delinquent behavior. The results revealed that the majority of respondents came from families with lower-middle incomes (81.8%) and experienced disharmonious parenting patterns (58.2%), characterized by chronic conflict, broken homes, and emotional neglect. Attachment dynamics were dominated by insecure attachment patterns, with 58.2% of respondents feeling misunderstood by their families and 40% turning to figures other than their parents for support. Key findings showed that the main trigger for conflict with the law was cases of sexual relations reported as rape (45.5%), reflecting the clash between social norms and adolescent autonomy, followed by property crimes driven by economic factors. The findings of this study on attachment figure shifting also encourage the development of a counseling service model based on a warm, empathetic, and consistent therapeutic relationship for children who have lost emotional support from their parents. Practically, the implications of this research provide a basis for developing family counseling and trauma-based counseling services in educational institutions and child rehabilitation centers.
