Abstract

The phenomenon of coffee trucks has rapidly developed in various cities across Indonesia, including on Jalan Teuku Hamzah Bendahara in Lhokseumawe City. This area utilizes pedestrian pathways as a dynamic public interaction space, attracting numerous visitors to engage in activities and fulfill their social and consumption needs. This study aims to measure the level of place dependence and examine the relationships between various variables such as perceived quality, need fulfillment, loyalty, effort to stay, and effort to return in the coffee truck area. The methodology employed is a quantitative survey using questionnaires completed by 100 respondents, with data analyzed using SPSS. The findings show that the level of place dependency is quite high, indicating a strong attachment to this location. User satisfaction regarding the quality of the space provided by the coffee truck shows a strong and significant relationship, contributing notably to enhancing the perception of this location as the best in meeting visitors' needs and goals overall. In conclusion, the coffee truck area not only fulfills users' functional needs but also fosters emotional connections, thereby strengthening their dependence on the location. The results of this study offer valuable insights for managing similar public spaces, particularly in creating places that can establish long-term engagement with users and communities.

Abstract

Raya Ganting Mosque is the oldest mosque in Padang City and has a role in social and religious life. The mosque has special rules related to circulation, such as avoiding meetings between males and females, which disturbs the sanctity of worship. The circulation of space in the mosque must be considered for the convenience of worshipers, where the issue in this study is still the occurrence of cross circulation in the foyer, left side entrance, and the prayer room which is closer to the entrance to the women's ablution room. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the existing space circulation in the Mosque using the theory of D. K Ching (1993). The method in this research uses the Descriptive Qualitative Method by using variables of building access, Circulation flow configuration, and relationship between space and road. The results showed that the circulation space based on the achievement of the mosque building has more than one entrance access, the flow of motion of worshipers in the mosque is accessed linearly, and the relationship between spaces has a spatial relationship through space, ends in space, and penetrates in space. In conclusion, the circulation of space in the Mosque is effective and efficient, where the achievement of the building has more than one entrance to avoid congestion of worshipers, the flow of movement of worshipers in the mosque is accessed linearly which makes it easier for worshipers to go to each room in the mosque, and the relationship between spaces through space and ends in space where good minimize cross-circulation between worshipers. However, some aspects such as the arrangement of the women's ablution room must be considered to reduce cross-circulation between worshipers, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the comfort of worshipers in worship. Abstract

The concept of place identity examines the relationship between personal identity and physical location, emphasizing the importance of location in the lives of people and the communities that inhabit them. In the last twenty years, place identity has become an important issue in urban planning and design, especially in conservation or preservation. This research aims to identify the place identity of the Medan Post Office as one of the urban heritage in Medan City to maintain the historic building sustainably. Medan Post Office was chosen because it is located in the city center which is the center of accessibility with the area with the highest concentration of pedestrians and tourists so it is referred to as Medan’s Zero Point. This research used descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. This research combines qualitative and quantitative methods through direct observation and interviews as well as conducting questionnaires to obtain information on respondents’ characteristics and perceptions of place identity variables. The results showed that the place identity formed in Medan Post Office as an effort to maintain urban heritage is supported by self-efficacy and self-esteem variables as the strongest identities. In contrast, continuity and distinctiveness variables are the weakest identities. The self-efficacy variable becomes the strongest identity due to the accessibility indicator at Medan Post Office, followed by self-esteem with high evaluation value. However, the continuity variable that reflects the value of the place still needs to be improved because its value is the lowest. So it needs further development to increase the continuity or distinctiveness of the place following its potential as urban heritage.
