Abstract

The percentage of slope classes on a land has an impact on changes in soil physics. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the physical properties of soil planted with tobacco on various slopes in Kenagarian Situjuah Batua, Situjuah Limo Nagari District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The method used in this study was a survey; samples were taken purposively based on slope classes at slopes 8-15%, 15–25%, and 25–45% at depths of 0–20 cm and 20–40 cm. From each slope 3 repetitions were taken. The results showed that there were changes in soil physics properties in each slope class with the dominant texture of sandy clay loam. Organic matter was classified as high to low (18.77–3.63%), low soil buld density (0.66–0.34 g/cm3), and total pore space was classified as high (75.27–86.87%). The permeability of the soil was classified as very fast to somewhat slow (34.88–0.78 cm/h), and the aggregate stability index was somewhat steady to less steady (60.89–45.98%). It is recommended that tobacco farmers to make terrracing and cut the length of the slope so that it does not lose organic matter. Keywords: soil physical properties, slope level, tobacco plantation

Abstract

Pupuk organik merupakan pupuk yang berasal dari bahan organik yang dibuat melalui proses pengomposan atau dekomposisi. Pupuk organik granul biokanat merupakan inovasi formulasi dari beberapa bahan pupuk organik dan bahan amelioran yaitu biochar sekam padi, senyawa polimer dan tanah liat yang mampu meningkatkatkan kualitas tanah bekas tambang emas. Tujuan Penelitian ini untuk mengkaji kualitas pupuk organik granul biokanat yang dapat diaplikasikan pada tanah bekas tambang emas. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di laboratorium pupuk organik Jurusan Tanah Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Andalas. Pembuatan pupuk organik granul biokanat pertama sekali yaitu pengomposan dengan menggunakan perbandingan biochar sekam padi, pupuk kotoran sapi dan sampah sayur sebanyak 1:2:2 dalam satuan kg. Sedangkan untuk proses penggranulan menggunanakan perbandingan kompos dan tanah liat 1:2 dalam satuan kg. Hasil penelitian yang telah diperoleh dilakukan analisis secara deskriptif serta membandingkan hasil penelitian dengan standar pupuk organik yaitu SNI 7763:2018. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa pupuk organik granul biokanat mengandung C-total sebesar 31,92%, P-total sebesar 0,76%, total nitrogen 2,12%, kalium total 4,06%, magnesium total sebesar 0,64%. Kalsium total 26,02%, nilai pH sebesar 7,08 dan rasio C/N sebesar 15,06. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, pupuk organik ini sesuai telah memenuhi standart SNI 7763:2018.

Abstract

Faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan bakteri endofit adalah pH dan Suhu. Dua unsur lingkungan ini sangat penting diketahui pengaruhnya baik dalam perbanyakan bakteri maupun dalam penggunaannya. Penelitian dilakukan untuk melihat pengaruh suhu dan pH optimum terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri endofit setelah dilakukan isolasi pada jaringan batang, daun dan akar cabai merah (Capsicum annum, L). Rentang suhu yang dicobakan pada kisaran 30 s.d 50oC dengan selang 10oC sedangkan rentang pH media adalah berkisar dari pH 4,0 s.d pH 8,0 dengan interval 0,5. Pertumbuhan bakteri dalam media kultur cair diamati dalam interval waktu 24 jam berdasarkan perubahan OD (optical density) media kultur pada panjang gelombang 600nm dengan menggunakan spektrofotometer. Penelitian menunjukkan respons pertumbuhan isolat endofit yang bervariasi terhadap tingkatan suhu dan pH media yang berbeda. Terdapat variasi lag dan log phase antara ketiga isolate dengan lag phase terpanjang ditemukan pada isolate DN1 pada suhu 50oC. Namun demikian ketiga isolat masih tergolong bakteri mesofilik yang tumbuh optimum pada suhu 30-40oC. Terdapat juga perbedaan pH optimum antara ketiganya dimana isolat AK1 berkisar dari 6,5–7,5, isolate BT1 pada pH 6.0-8.0 dan isolat DN1 pada pH 5.5-6.0. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa ketiga isolat berkemungkinan besar bukan spesies yang sama dan menguatkan dugaan bahwa terdapat bakteri endofit yang spesifik untuk masing-masing jaringan tanaman cabai.

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Tebing Tinggi Village, Pulau Punjung Sub-district, Dharmasraya District was motivated by a desire to exploit land resources, especially open access land that was formerly a gold mine by cultivating oil palm plants. The objectives of this study were to determine the characteristics of soil chemical properties, the soil fertility level, and the level of mercury (Hg) contamination in former gold mining land by compared with the soil chemical fertility of oil palm plantations. The research method was a survey by purposive sampling. The Soil sampling for analysis of soil chemical properties was carried out by drilling of 0-40 cm deep with 12 sample points divided into 4 locations, where 3 locations in the former gold mine area that were grouped into three segments, namely segments 1, 2 and 3 and one location was in oil palm land. The parameters of soil chemical properties observed were pH, Al-dd, C-organic, C / N Ratio, N, P, K and Hg (Mercury). The results of this research, shows that the characteristics of soil chemical properties in the former gold mining area have decreased the level of soil fertility, characterized by the very low pH value and C-organic content, ​​so that the nutrients contained in the land are very limited when compared to the soil fertility in oil palm land. This is indicated by the fact that the oil palm land has a high C-organic content and a moderate level of N-total content. The utilization of the land resources of the former gold mine, it is necessary to do land improvementsin terms of soil physically, chemically and biologically.

Abstract

Land damage caused by gold mining activities is mainly due to soil contamination by Mercury (Hg). Ex-gold mines are soils that have poor chemical, biological, and physical properties, resulting in a very low level of soil fertility. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of rubber leaf litter compost and biochar of oil palm empty fruit bunches to obtain the best dose recommendation in improving the ex-gold mining soil on the growth of rubber seedlings (Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg.). This study was designed by a completely randomized design consisted of 7 treatments and repeated 3 times. The treatments were rubber leaf litter compost at a dose of 10 tons/ha and 20 tons/ha, biochar of oil palm empty fruit bunches at a dose of 10 tons/ha and 20 tons/ha, combination of rubber leaf litter compost and biochar of oil palm empty fruit bunches at a dose of 10 tons/ha and 20 tons/ha, respectively. The results showed that the combination treatment of rubber leaf litter compost and biochar of oil palm empty fruit bunches at a dose of 20 tons/ha resulted in a soil pH value of 4,85, Al-dd 0,42 cmol/kg, C-organik 0,92%, N-total 0,053%, C/N 11,25, P-available 122,69 ppm, K-dd 0,40 cmol/kg, and reducing soil mercury by 0,01 ppm. The growth of shoot height and leaves number of rubber seedlings was obtained by the application of biochar of oil palm empty fruit bunches at a best dose of 20 tons/ha. In addition, the treatment of rubber leaf litter compost at a dose of 20 tons/ha was able to increase the leaf width of rubber seedlings (h. brasiliensis Muell. Arg.).

Abstract

As much as 75% of people's daily calorie input in Asian countries comes from rice One of the provinces that has great potential as a contributor to national rice production is West Sumatra. Supported by natural resources and good climatic conditions and a large population, which is 4,846,909 people. The purpose of this article is to find out the development and mapping of research topics on Exploration and Identification of Local Rice Characteristics of West Sumatra. The type of research used is literature review using bibliometric analysis. The bibliometric analysis in this study shows a study of the evolutionary process on the research topic with local West Sumatran rice from 2010 to 2023. Vosviewer is an important programming tool for visualizing and analyzing network visualizations in mapping bibliometric analysis. Around 235 articles obtained from the Google Scholar database show that there is a use of the term West Sumatran local rice and can be a topic of future research.
