Abstract

Learning resources in the form of textbooks and LKS often make students feel bored during learning activities, because these two learning sources often only contain formulas and material, without any comprehensive explanation of mathematical concepts. Therefore, there is a need for innovation in the learning resources used in schools. This research is aimed at developing handouts for class VIII on flat sided of three-dimensional material based on the Realistic Mathematics Learning approach. This type of research is research and development (Research and Development) with the 4-D model development method by Thiagarajan, namely: 1) Define, 2) Design, 3) Develop, and 4) Disseminate. The results of the material expert's validation of the handout showed an average value of 0.8106 with high validity criteria and was declared feasible. The results of the media expert's validation of the handout showed an average value of 0.8698 with high validity criteria and was declared feasible. From the post-test results of the experimental class, it was found that almost all students passed. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test at the testing stage for the use of the experimental class showed a value of 0.034, thus a significance value of <0.05 was obtained, which means that there was a significant difference in improving student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. This is in line with the students' responses at the usage trial stage obtaining a percentage of 79% with the criteria that almost all students gave a positive response to the handout.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an effective didactic design to address students' learning obstacles in the concept of value ratios. A qualitative research method was employed, specifically utilizing Didactical Design Research. Data were collected through tests, interviews, observations, and documentation from 8th-grade students at MTs PUI Kancana who had studied the subject matter. The didactic design was based on the analysis of learning obstacles and trajectories, metapedadidactics, and retrospectives. Following the implementation of the instructional design in 7th-grade class A at MTs PUI Kancana, which had not received prior instruction on value comparison, a decrease in students' learning obstacles was observed. Although not all learning obstacles were eliminated, the didactic design effectively reduced the barriers encountered by the students. This research holds significant implications for instructional development. By employing the didactic design for value ratios, it provides an alternative approach to enhance students' understanding and mastery of value comparison concepts. Consequently, this study offers an accurate and comprehensive overview of the didactic design approach to address learning obstacles in the context of value comparison. The findings highlight the importance of employing effective didactic designs to improve learning outcomes in the domain of value ratios.

Abstract

This study examines how students experience and interpret Polya’s problem-solving stages while working on geometry tasks in an electronic Problem-Based Learning (e-PBL) environment implemented through a customized Moodle based learning management system. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected from written problem-solving artefacts, semi-structured interviews, and digital traces generated during e-PBL activities. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke, combining deductive coding based on Polya’s four stages with inductive coding to capture emerging reasoning patterns. The findings indicate that problem-solving is enacted as a dynamic and recursive process rather than a linear sequence. Understanding and planning involve repeated reinterpretation of multimodal representations, while execution is characterized by representational shifts that support conceptual clarity. Reflective prompts in e-PBL facilitate error detection and conceptual consolidation, highlighting the importance of the evaluative stage.

Abstract

This study analyzes student behavior in using ICT when using LMS at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. This study used quantitative methods with a survey research design. The type of survey used is a cross-sectional survey design. Samples were taken from Mathematics Education students in semesters I, III, V and VII, as many as 258 from 627 active students in 2021/2022 using the stratified random sampling method. The instrument was developed following the aspects and indicators in the TAM model, containing (1) perceived ease of use, (2) perceived usefulness, (3) attitude towards using, (4) behavioral intention to use, and (5) actual usage. The instrument will be tested for validity using CVR and reliability using the Guttman Split-Half Coefficient correlation. Data on student behavior using ICT were analyzed using Widoyoko categorization. The study results showed that the instrument was confirmed to be valid and reliable, with students' behavior in using ICT categorized as "good." The findings suggest that students are generally well-prepared to engage with ICT tools for online learning, reflecting their adaptability and positive attitudes toward technology adoption. However, to maximize the potential benefits of ICT in education, the study highlights the need for institutions to implement targeted strategies. These include providing more comprehensive ICT training programs, upgrading and maintaining digital infrastructure, and creating policies encouraging consistent and meaningful use of ICT in learning activities.

Abstract

This study addresses persistent difficulties in students’ geometry problem-solving, particularly in coordinating representations and applying structured reasoning. Prior research has shown the potential of problem-based learning (PBL) and digital tools; however, limited evidence exists regarding how technology-enhanced PBL supports students’ engagement across Polya’s problem-solving stages. To examine this issue, a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was employed involving two intact undergraduate geometry classes. The experimental group was taught using e-Problem-Based Learning (e-PBL), while the control group received conventional instruction. Students’ performance was measured using a Polya-based problem-solving test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, assumption testing, and an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group outperformed the control group (M = 70.74 vs. 65.07), with a statistically significant difference (p < .001) and a large effect size (d = 1.16). Performance gains were observed across all four stages of Polya’s framework, particularly in the planning and reflection stages. These findings suggest that e-PBL is associated with improved mathematical problem-solving performance by supporting structured reasoning and reflective thinking. The research emphasizes the necessity of integrating digital scaffolding and collaborative inquiry in geometry instruction.
