Abstract

The study is about grammatical aspects of the political discourse. Using technique of formal discourse analysis, especially focussing on cohesion, the grammatical aspects of political discourse show particular characteristics. Although in general they show reference, ellipsis, and conjunction, the discussion of the grammatical aspects is only limited on reference. The findings show that the use of reference in the political discourse can be classified into seven types: (1) reference showing cohesion which tends to be formal and standard; (2) reference having types of endophoric and exophoric, anaphoric, cataphoric, anaphoric and cataphoric, pronoun, demonstrative, and comparative pronoun reference consisting o0f temporal, locational, situational, equivalent, naming, historical; and reference having forms of lexical, phrasal, sentencial, paragraph, and discourse; (3) endophoric reference which is more productive than exophoric one; (4) anaphoric reference which is more productive than cataphoric one; (5) phrasal reference which is more productive than lexical, sentencial, paragraph, and discoursal ones; (6) cataphoric reference which tends to be phrasal and paragraph; and (7) discourse reference which is typically exophoric.Key words: grammatical aspect, cohesion, reference, political discourse, and korpus data

Abstract

Kaum behavioris memandang kesalahan berbahasamerupakan suatu cela yang harus dihindari dan segeradibetulkan bila kesalahan itu terjadl. Kaum nativis sebaliknya.memandang kesalahan berbahasa merupakan hal yangwajar terjadi dan merupakan bukti adanya proses belajardalam diri pembelajar.Pembetulan kesalahan dalam pembeJajaran bahasai<edua (B2) juga masih sangat bervariasi. Hal ini disebabkandasar teori dan cara pandang terhadap adanya kesalahan berbaha~a tiap-tiap aUran (kaum nativisme dan behaviorisme)berbeda sehingga timbul isu apakah pembetulan kesalahanbenar-benar membantu pemerolehan Bl. Makalah ini berusahamenjawab isu tersebut. Pembetulan kesalahan .akan dapatmembantu pemerolehan B? bila (a) dilakukan secara selektif;(b) tidak perlu ajeg dan sistematis; (e) interaksi merupakanaktivitas instruksional .yang bersifat pembelajaran; (d) terdapatvariasi penggunaan teknik langsung dan tidak langsung;(e) terdapat variasi giliran subjek pembetulan kesalahan; (f)nomor a - e mempertimbangka.n .waktu yang tepat dankemampuan pembelajar.

Abstract

This study will reveal the quality of the textbooks used in DIY for high school students. From this research, the textbook standard will become a reference so that it can be used to achieve the goals of regional language education that have been mandated in the curriculum. This is a descriptive study. The data were collected from the WIBAWA book "Wiyata Basa Jawa". The research instrument consisted of WIBAWA textbook assessment instrument with Fry Graph instruments/indicators. WIBAWA textbook readability was 66.67%, while 33.33% of the book did not meet legibility. The 33.33% unacceptability does not mean completely unacceptable, but there are parts that are too easy and some parts that are too difficult, so it needs to be revised.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui, mendeskripsikan, dan mengekplanasi karakter hormat yang terdapat dalam buku pelajaran bahasa Jawa yang digunakan sekolah di Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta, khususnya tentang: (1) indikator karakter hormat; (2) proporsi indikator karakter hormat; dan (3) strategi penyajian karakter hormat yang terdapat dalam buku pelajaran bahasa Jawa di SD, SMP, dan SMA di Jawa Tengah dan Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian konten (content analysis). Sumber datanya adalah buku pelajaran bahasa Jawa SD, SMP, dan SMA sebanyak 30 buku. Penyampelan dilakukan dengan teknik interval tiga, yakni setiap halaman kelipatan tiga dicermati menjadi sampel data. Keabsahan data menggunakan teknik kajian berulang, ketekunan/ ketelitian pengamatan, diskusi sejawat. Analisis data diawali dengan memasukkan data dalam carta data. Data deskriptif dan reflektif diinterpretasi, dieksplanasi, dan diinferensi. Hasil penelitian: (1) wujud pendidikan karakter hormat ditengarai oleh indikator (a) honorifik, (b) penghargaan, (c) penghormatan, (d) keramahan, (e) kerukunan, (f) kesopanan, (g) sikap/tata krama, dan (h) bahasa Jawa krama; (2) proporsi pendidikan karakter yang paling tinggi adalah indikator penghargan, diikuti sikap/tata krama, basa krama, penghormatan, kesopanan, keramahan, kerukunan, dan honorifik; dan (3) semakin tinggi sekolah, pendidikan karakter hormat disampaikan semakin abstrak, integratif, polistrategi, dan metaforis, dan semakin rendah sekolah, pendidikan karakter hormat disampaikan semakin konkret, langsung, monostrategis, dan lugas. Kata Kunci: karakter, hormat, Bahasa Jawa CHARACTER EDUCATION OF RESPECT IN THE SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS OF JAVANESE Abstract: This research aims at finding out, describing, and explaining the character of respect found in the school textbooks of Javanese used in Central Java and Yogyakarta, especially on: (1) indicator of character of respect; (2) proportion of the indicator of the character of respect; (3) strategies of presenting the character of respect found in the textbooks of Javanese used in the elementary schools, junior high schools, and senior high schools in Central Java and Yogyakarta. This research uses a content analysis design. The data resources are 30 textbooks of Javanese for the elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. The sampling used a 3-interval technique, i.e., every page of a multiple of 3 is discerned as a data sample. Validity was achieved through repeated reading, careful observation, and peer discussion. Analysis was started by entering the data into the data cards. Descriptive and reflective data were interpreted, explained and inferenced. The research results are: (1) the form of character of respect is indicated by (a) honorifics, (b) appreciation, (c) respect, (d) friendliness, (e) harmony, (f) politeness, (g) good attitude, and (h) use of Javanese of respect; (2) the highest proportion of character education is shown by the indicator of respect, followed by good attitude, language of honor, respect, politeness, friendliness, harmony, and honorifics; and (3) the higher the school level, the character education of respect is presented in a more abstract, integrative, polistrategic, and metaphoric way, and the lower the school level, the character education of respect is presented in a simpler, more concrete, direct, and monostrategic way. Abstract

Abstrak: Istilah pendidikan karakter dipopulerkan di Amerika. Di Inggris, pendidikan karakter dikenal dengan pendidikan nilai dan di Indonesia dikenal dengan pendidikan budi pekerti. Budi pekerti adalah segala pola pikir yang dipekertikan (dilaksanakan) dalam bentuk sikap dan perilaku, atau cipta, rasa, karsa (dan karya) dengan dilandasi ajaran moral yang baik (luhur) sehingga karakter disebut juga budi pekerti luhur. Guru adalah aktor sekaligus garda terdepan yang secara langsung berhadapan dengan pembelajar untuk menyemaikan, membudayakan, dan membiasakan karakter sehingga terintenalisasi dalam diri pembelajar dan dipraktikkan dalam kehidupan nyata sehari-hari dan akhirnya menjadi watak atau kepribadian luhur pembelajar. Berdasarkan pengalaman penulis untuk membelajarkan karakter, guru perlu didukung oleh pemilihan materi, metode, dan media secara tepat. Dukungan ini merupakan persyaratan minimal yang dapat dilakukan oleh semua guru. Kata Kunci: pembelajaran karakter, budi pekerti luhur, pembudayaan, pembiasaan ENJOYABLE CHARACTER TEACHING AND LEARNING (A Reflection on Experience) Abstract: The term of character education has been popularized in the USA. In the UK character education is called value education, and in Indonesia it is known as character education. Character means all frames of thought which are put into practice (implemented) in the form of attitudes and behaviors, or thoughts, feelings, and works, based on high moral teaching so that it is also called noble character. A teacher is an actor who is, simultaneously, a frontliner who directly confront learners to propagate, cultivate, and habituate the character so that it is internalized within the learners and practised in real every day life, and ultimately becomes the characteristics or the noble characterof the learners. Based on the writers’ experience, in the character teaching and learning a teacher must be supported with an appropriate selection of materials, method, and media. Abstract

AbstractThe aesthetic aspect in the Javanese wedding ceremony spoken discourse isvery important and even it can take the place of the semantic aspect. Speakersemphasize more on the former than on the latter. This is the uniqueness of theJavanese wedding ceremony spoken discourse. Such a phenomenon sometimesresults in a controversy between practitioners in the Javanese wedding ceremonyand the audience. This study on the aesthetic aspect in the Javanese weddingceremony spoken discourse was supported by empirical and reflective data. Theanalysis units included sounds, words, phrases, clauses, and sentences. On thebasis of the analysis, it can be concluded that (1) the aesthetic aspect of the Javanesewedding ceremony spoken discourse comprises the phraseology, figures ofspeech, idioms, and aesthetic diction; and ( 2)it shows a communication register.Keywords: aesthetic aspect, Javanese wedding ceremony spoken discourse,empirical and reflective data

Abstract

Kecendemngan bahasa Jawa sebagai bahasa kedua (82) di kota-kota (Besar) diJawa telah merisaukan para gum bahasa Jawa. Mereka merasa kebingungan untukmemilih strategi yang hams mereka gunakan untuk mengajar bahasa Jaw agar tujuanpengajaran bahasa Jawa berhasil. Sementara di keias mereka juga terdapat pembelajaryang memiliii bak Jawa sebagai 81. Hal demikian memerlnkan solusi allematitAda beberapa strategi untuk pengajaran bahasa Jawa sebagai 82. Abstract

Gapura merupakan bagian dari arsitektur tradisional di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY); adapun jenisnya Paduraksa, Belah Bentar, Semar Tinandu. Ada beberapa gapura dari segi bentuk maupun penempatannya kurang menyatu dengan lingkungannya. Mengingat kota Yogyakarta sebagai kota budaya, pelajar, dan pariwisata maka perlu adanya usaha-usaha yang positif guna melestarikan beberapa gapura yang mengandung nilai historis, dan membangun gapura baru yang bercorak arsitektur tradisional Yogyakarta sehingga dapat menunjukkan identitas Daerah lstimewa Yogyakarta. Dari berbagai jenis gapura, jenis gapura Semar Tinandu dari kraton Yogyakarta sebagai kiblat pembangunan gapura-gapura yang baru di DIY, khususnya Kota MadyaYogyakarta. Pembangunan gapura disesuaikan dengan corak bangunan keseluruhan sehingga menyatu. Dengan dipeliharanya gapura-gapura di DIY dan dibangunnya gapura-gapura baru yang bercorak arsitektur tradisional khususnya gapura Semar Tinandu di Kota Madya Yogyakarta berarti Kodya Yogyakarta melestarikan corak arsitektur tradisional. Adapun keempat kabupaten wilayah DIY hendaknya menyesuaikan dengan Kota Madya Yogyakarta. Secara tidak langsung Kodya Yogyakarta telah mendidik masyarakat untuk menghargai seni peninggalan nenek moyangnya, bergotong-royong, berorganisasi, ikut serta menunjang program pemerintah mensukseskan pembangunan manusia, seutuhnya.
