Abstract

Penyakit kulit yang umum terjadi adalah jerawat. Jerawat dapat timbul akibat infeksi bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Salah satu bahan alam yang dapat dijadikan obat untuk jerawat adalah tumbuhan rumput laut cokelat (Sargassum polycystum). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan ekstrak rumput laut cokelat menjadi sediaan krim antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes. Ekstrak rumput laut cokelat didapatkan melalui proses maserasi menggunakan etanol 96%. Pembuatan formulasi krim menggunakan variasi konsentrasi 20%, 25%, dan 50%. Evaluasi krim terdiri dari organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, tipe emulsi, viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat, dan iritasi. Pengujian antibakteri ekstrak rumput laut cokelat dan krim terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran, kemudian diameter zona hambat dianalisis mengggunakan uji One Way Anova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa krim ekstrak rumput laut cokelat telah memenuhi syarat krim yang baik. Ekstrak rumput laut cokelat dan krim dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Propionibacterium acnes tertinggi pada konsentrasi 50% diperoleh rata-rata diameter zona hambat masing-masing yaitu 17,9 mm (kuat) dan 15,3 mm (kuat) dengan nilai yang signifikan sebesar p<0,05 melalui uji One Way ANOVA. Ekstrak rumput laut cokelat dapat diformulasikan menjadi bentuk krim yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acnes dengan daya hambat kuat pada konsentrasi 50%.

Abstract

Daun mangkokan memiliki aktivitas sebagai larvasida Nyamuk genus Culex sp yang dikenal sebagai vektor penular arbovirus dan demam kaki gajah yang telah dibuktikkan melalui uji percobaan yang dilakukan secara maserasi etanol 95% yang diaplikasikan pada 20 larva Culex sp. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil uji efektivitas sediaan spray antinyamuk ekstrak etanol daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode ekstraksi maserasi yang meliputi pengumpulan dan pengolahan daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria), pembuatan serbuk simplisia daun mangkokan, penyiapan proses maserasi untuk mendapatkan ekstrak etanol daun mangkokan, pembuatan formulasi sediaan repelan spray, pemeriksaan terhadap evaluasi sediaan (uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji daya lekat, dan uji iritasi), uji stabilitas, serta pengujian efektivitas antinyamuk sediaan spray daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria). Dari hasil penelitian dapat dikonfirmasi bahwa sediaan spray ekstrak etanol daun mangkokan memiliki tingkat efektivitas yang baik terhadap daya tolak nyamuk yaitu pada formula IV. Ekstrak Etanol Daun Mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria) dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan spray antinyamuk. Hasil uji efektivitas sediaan spray ekstrak etanol daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria) terhadap nyamuk menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun mangkokan (Polyscias scutellaria) memiliki potensi sebagai zat antinyamuk.

Abstract

The skin of the Dutch eggplant contains anthocyanin compounds that serve as colorants. The skin exhibits an attractive red color, making it a potential natural dye alternative in cosmetics. This study aims to formulate and evaluate the physical properties of an eyeshadow stick made from Dutch eggplant skin extract. An experimental research method was employed, creating four formulations of the eyeshadow stick by varying the concentration of the Dutch eggplant skin extract: F0 (0%), F1 (6%), F2 (12%), and F3 (24%). Physical evaluations of the eyeshadow stick were conducted weekly over four weeks at room temperature (25°C), assessing parameters such as organoleptic properties, homogeneity, spreadability, and melting point. Additionally, a cycling test was performed over six cycles for 12 days, along with irritation tests and preference tests involving 10 volunteers. The results indicated that the organoleptic properties of the three formulations resulted in light pink, medium pink, and dark pink colors, with a white base, a rose scent, and a semi-solid form. There was a significant difference (p < 0.05) in spreadability among F0, F1, F2, and F3, showing that as the extract concentration increased, spreadability decreased, falling within the range of 5-7 cm. All formulations remained stable during storage according to the cycling test results. The irritation tests revealed that none of the formulations caused redness, itching, or swelling. The best formulation was identified as F3 with a 24% extract concentration.

Abstract

Physalis angulata L. (ciplukan) is an annual plant with potential medicinal properties, including pain relief. This study aims to formulate a cold cream containing ciplukan leaf extract and evaluate its physical stability. The leaf extract was obtained by maceration using 96% ethanol and concentrated using a rotary evaporator. Cold cream formulations were prepared with extract concentrations of 0%, 5%, and 10%, utilizing three types of oils (olive, caprylic, and paraffin). Evaluations included organoleptic properties, pH, homogeneity, adhesion, spreadability, viscosity, cream type, and stability, analyzed using One-Way ANOVA. Results showed that all formulations exhibited good physical properties and were classified as oil-in-water (O/W) type creams. pH values ranged from 4 to 6, adhesion times from 1.19 to 4.94 seconds, and spreadability from 4.52 to 5.16 cm, with no significant differences among extract concentrations or oil types (p > 0.05). Increasing the extract concentration from 5% to 10% resulted in a slight decrease in pH, which remained within the safe range, maintained homogeneity, slightly reduced spreadability, and improved physical stability, especially at 10%. The formulation containing 10% ciplukan leaf extract showed the best stability and was well accepted as a cold cream preparation.

Abstract

Kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Kampung Terih dilaksanakan dengan fokus pada pemanfaatan Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) melalui program TOGA dan Ramuan Bertuah. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah hasil survei yang menunjukkan bahwa meskipun masyarakat sudah banyak menanam TOGA, khususnya sereh, namun pemanfaatannya sebagai ramuan herbal masih terbatas. Sebagian besar masyarakat lebih memilih obat modern ketika sakit, padahal sebagai masyarakat pesisir mereka membutuhkan stamina tubuh yang kuat untuk menunjang aktivitas sehari-hari. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai manfaat TOGA, memberikan keterampilan dalam mengolah tanaman herbal menjadi ramuan kesehatan, serta memperluas variasi tanaman obat yang dimiliki warga melalui pembagian bibit. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi edukasi, demonstrasi pengolahan ramuan herbal berbahan jahe, temulawak, dan sereh, serta pembagian bibit TOGA kepada masyarakat.

Abstract

Hipertensi merupakan penyakit kronis dengan prevalensi tinggi yang sering kali tidak terkontrol akibat rendahnya kepatuhan pasien terhadap pengobatan dan jadwal kontrol. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh layanan pesan pengingat jadwal kontrol terhadap tekanan darah, kepatuhan minum obat, dan kualitas hidup pasien hipertensi di Puskesmas Baloi Permai. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi-experimental dengan rancangan pre-test post-test control group. Sampel berjumlah 186 responden yang dibagi menjadi kelompok intervensi dengan diberi pesan pengingat melalui WhatsApp dan kelompok kontrol. Instrumen penelitian meliputi kuesioner MMAS-8 untuk mengukur kepatuhan dan WHOQOL-BREF untuk menilai kualitas hidup. Hasil uji paired t-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada kepatuhan minum obat (p<0.05) serta penurunan tekanan darah yang bermakna pada kelompok intervensi. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan skor kualitas hidup setelah intervensi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Dengan demikian, layanan pesan pengingat jadwal kontrol terbukti efektif meningkatkan kepatuhan pengobatan, menurunkan tekanan darah, dan memperbaiki kualitas hidup pasien hipertensi. Intervensi berbasis teknologi ini dapat diimplementasikan sebagai strategi inovatif dalam pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Duck egg shells are an organic waste that is rich in calcium carbonate (CaCO?) and has the potential to be used as a natural abrasive in toothpaste preparations. This research aims to formulate toothpaste using duck eggshell powder as a source of calcium carbonate and evaluate the effect of varying concentrations of xanthan gum as a thickening agent on the physical quality of the resulting toothpaste. This research is experimental. Formulations are made with varying concentrations of xanthan gum, namely 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2%. Evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, cycling test, stress test, long-term stability, and foam tests which are analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that all formulas produced toothpaste that met organoleptic, homogeneity and pH requirements (4.5–10.5). Increasing the concentration of xanthan gum affects viscosity. The formula with a xanthan gum concentration of 2% had the highest viscosity, while the formula with a concentration of 0.5% showed a lower viscosity. The foam test showed that the four formulas were able to produce foam with sufficient volume. In conclusion, formula 2 is a good, stable formula, and has the potential to be developed as a duck egg shell toothpaste preparation.

Abstract

Background: Pandanus odorifer is a coastal plant in Southeast Asia with roots rich in bioactive compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids, saponins, and alkaloids. Limited solubility and bioavailability of lipophilic compounds hinder therapeutic effectiveness. Objective: To develop and evaluate Self-Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System (SNEDDS) formulation from sea pandanus root methanol extract to enhance solubility and stability. Methods: Root extraction was performed using soxhlet method with methanol solvent. Six SNEDDS formulas were developed with variations of Tween 80/Tween 20 surfactant combinations and PEG 400/propylene glycol cosurfactants. Evaluation included simplicia characterization, organoleptic tests, creaming tests, pH and viscosity measurements, centrifugation, freeze-thaw stability, solubility, and droplet size analysis. Results: Extract yield reached 7.72% with simplicia characterization meeting pharmacopoeial standards. Formula F3 (Tween 80 21.4%, PEG 400 21.4%, VCO 4.75%, extract 5%) demonstrated optimal stability with pH 6.91±0.04, viscosity 253.33±11.55 cPs, HLB value 14.50, and average droplet size 530 nm. This formula maintained homogeneity throughout all stability tests without phase separation. Conclusion: SNEDDS from Pandanus odorifer root methanol extract formula F3 possesses physicochemical characteristics and stability suitable for nanoemulsion-based drug delivery systems.

Abstract

Soil Transmissible Helminthiasis (STH) is still a public health problem in countries with tropical and sub-tropical climates, including Indonesia. The prevalence of worms in Indonesia currently ranges from 20-86 percent with an average of 30 percent. This frequently occurring disease really disrupts children's growth and development. Worm control efforts are directed at breaking the chain of transmission of worms, namely the toddler and school age groups, with 1 ) administer medicationmass prevention of worms in vulnerable groups to stop the spread of worm eggs from sufferers to the surrounding environment, 2) improving sanitation hygiene, and 3) cultivating clean and healthy living behavior through health promotion. Through this community service activity, socialization activities on the use and administration of worm medicine have been implemented. In Toddlers at Posyandu Bougenville IV, Tiban Baru. This activity is useful for children under five so that they always receive worm medicine and socialize and increase mothers' understanding about how important it is to give worm medicine to toddlers. Activities to socialize the use and administration of worm medicine to toddlers can increase public knowledge. There are still some people, especially mothers with toddlers, who rarely give them worm medicine.

Abstract

Wounds can be defined as the loss and damage of anatomical cells or skin function. Wound healing consists of coagulation, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling stages. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the leaf fraction of the thick (Glochidion superbum) on wound healing in male white mice (Mus musculus). This study is experimental. This study used 24 male mice that were given a 10 mm long cut wound. Fractionation was carried out using the liquid-liquid extraction method. Fractionation used 3 different types of solvents, namely methanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction had a faster wound healing effectiveness than the other groups. The ethyl acetate fraction contains a phenolic compound, namely methyl gallate. Methyl gallate has an important role in wound healing. Methyl gallate has the potential to be an antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. The results of the Bonferroni post-hoc statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the ethyl acetate fraction in faster wound healing. The thick leaf fraction was effective in healing incisions in male white mice. The ethyl acetate fraction was more effective in accelerating incision healing.
