Abstract

Background: The high rate of maternal and infant mortality in Indonesia in the past year can be influenced by the habits of the community who prefer Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) in the childbirth. In fact, TBAs are not health profession and do not have competency standards to assist with childbirth, thus increasing the risk of maternal and infant mortality. This article aimed to determine the influence of culture on the community’s habit of choosing TBAsor official village midwives (OVMs)in childbirth process in remote areas.Methods: A cross-sectional study was used. The respondents were mothers who gave birth in the last one year in one remote sub-district in Aceh. TBAs and official village midwiveswereobserved and indepth interviews were also conducted.Resultsand Discussions:The results of this study showed community attitudes about cultural influences during pregnancy, such as TBAs-assisted delivery is a cultural belief that must be followed.Hence, factors that influence the choice of mothers in using OVMs or TBAs:cultural beliefs and norms, and the role of the cultural leaders in making decisions. Conclusions: Culture plays an important role in influencing people who live in remote areas to choose TBAs rather than the OVMs.

Abstract

Diare merupakan salah satu penyebab utama kematian, sebagaimana dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya angka kesakitan yang terkait dengan penyakit diare setiap tahunnya. Menurut temuan dari SKDI pada tahun 2023, angka kejadian diare secara keseluruhan di berbagai kelompok usia mencapai 2%, dengan 4,9% pada balita dan 3,9% pada bayi. Salah satu faktor yang berkontribusi terhadap masalah ini adalah kurangnya kesadaran tentang diare. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara kesadaran ibu dan terjadinya diare pada balita. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik dengan desain cross-sectional. Lokasi penelitian adalah Rumah Sakit Royal Prima Jambi. Penelitian ini melibatkan seluruh ibu yang memiliki anak yang didiagnosis diare, yang berjumlah 18 partisipan. Metode pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan total sampling, dan data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada responden. Metode analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ditampilkan melalui melalui tabel distribusi frekuensi, kemudian diuji menggunakan analisis bivariat dengan uji statistik Chi-Square untuk menentukan keterkaitan antarvariabel dependen dan independen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai p sebesar 0,289 yang kurang dari 0,05, sehingga hipotesis diterima dan menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan dengan kejadian diare pada balita di Rumah Sakit Royal Prima Jambi. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi terjadinya diare antara lain adalah pemahaman ibu dan juga elemen-elemen lain yang mendukung. Pemahaman yang baik tentang penyakit diare dapat menumbuhkan sikap yang konstruktif, yang kemudian dapat menurunkan angka kejadian diare. Sebaliknya, pengetahuan yang tidak memadai dapat meningkatkan kemungkinan terjadinya diare. Telah diamati bahwa banyak ibu di Rumah Sakit Royal Prima Jambi memiliki pengetahuan yang terbatas mengenai penyakit diare. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar tenaga kesehatan di rumah sakit memperkuat inisiatif promosi kesehatan mengenai penyakit diare untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade 4 students at Miftahul Jannah Langkat Private Elementary School on the Asmaul Husna material using the interactive storytelling method. This method was chosen because it is considered more interesting and can help students understand the meaning and spiritual values ​​of Asmaul Husna in a more enjoyable way. This research was conducted in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation of student activities, field notes, and learning outcome tests. The results showed that the interactive storytelling method succeeded in improving student understanding and learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the percentage of student learning completion reached 65%, and in the second cycle it increased to 85%. In addition, students looked more enthusiastic, active, and involved in the learning process. They found it easier to grasp the meaning of each Asmaul Husna taught because this method made learning feel more alive and interactive. Thus, the interactive storytelling method has proven to be effective not only in improving learning outcomes, but also in creating a more enjoyable and meaningful learning atmosphere for students

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of coaching-based academic supervision in improving the quality of learning in the Independent Curriculum. Rooted in the theory of academic supervision and coaching, this study highlights the importance of implementing coaching-based academic supervision in the TIRTA (Objectives, Identification, Action Plan, and Responsibilities) flow. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, involving observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings of the study show that supervision plays an active role in helping teachers through a participatory and holistic approach, involving classroom observation, self-reflection, and constructive feedback. Supervision helps agree on goals, identify teachers’ weaknesses and strengths, develop development action plans that are directed and in accordance with teachers’ needs, significantly improve the quality of learning in line with the TIRTA model. Motivation and support from supervision encourage teachers to develop innovative ideas, while shared commitment and structured monitoring ensure the successful implementation of the action plan. Obstacles in the implementation of supervision can be overcome with an adaptive, empathetic, and continuous training approach. An important contribution of the research is the development of supervision strategies that empower teachers and support the implementation of a student-cantered curriculum. This study suggests the importance of coaching-based academic supervision as an effective approach in supervision in helping teachers support and empower teachers to improve the quality of learning in the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the discussion method in improving learning outcomes of the material on the behavior of people who practice Asma'ul Husna of students at MTs Miftahul Khoirot Cilamaya Kulon, Karawang. The discussion method was chosen because it can encourage students to be more active in critical thinking, communicating, and understanding the values ​​of Asma'ul Husna in more depth through interactions between students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The research sample consisted of grade VIII students who were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group using the discussion method and the control group using the lecture method. The results of the study showed that the application of the discussion method had a positive effect on improving students' understanding of the material being taught. Learning outcome data showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group, where the experimental group experienced a better increase in understanding. Thus, the discussion method has proven effective in improving student learning outcomes, especially in understanding and applying the values ​​of Asma'ul Husna in everyday life. These findings indicate that the discussion method can be used as an alternative learning strategy that is more interactive and can increase student involvement in the learning process.

Abstract

Effective leadership in schools significantly impacts the quality of education, where the school principal plays a crucial role in establishing the vision, mission, and objectives. This study explores the application of transformational leadership at SMP Negeri 3 Baleedah and its impact on a positive work culture. Through a qualitative approach, data were collected from interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving the principal and teachers. The findings indicate that the application of transformational leadership, such as building a clear vision and encouraging collaboration, successfully enhances motivation, work enthusiasm, and communication among teachers. However, challenges such as pressure to perform and uncertainty during changes persist. The results of this study are expected to provide insights for school principals and education managers in formulating better strategies to improve the work environment in schools and serve as a reference for developing leadership policies in other educational institutions.

Abstract

Papaya (Carica papaya L.) is a tropical plant known for its various health benefits. Almost all parts of this plant, including its roots, contain phytochemical compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and papain enzymes with potential anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to develop an anti-inflammatory cream based on papaya root waste extract, providing a natural therapeutic solution for skin inflammation. Papaya roots were obtained from Laweung, Pidie Regency, and processed using maceration with 96% ethanol solvent, yielding an extract with a 26% recovery rate. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, alkaloids, terpenoids, and saponins.The cream formulation was developed with varying extract concentrations: F0 (control), F1 (1.2 g), F2 (1.6 g), and F3 (2.0 g). Based on organoleptic testing, the cream formulations showed good stability in terms of color, aroma, and texture during storage. The added rose oil provided a pleasant fragrance that meets the SNI cosmetic standards. The pH test results indicated that all formulations (F0 to F3) were within the safe range for skin application, between 5.2 and 6.4. Formula F3 had the lowest pH (5.2), but it still complied with the SNI standard. The spreadability test showed varying results, with F0 having the highest spreadability (8.1 cm), while formulas with papaya extract (F1 to F3) showed spreadability ranging from 6.06 to 7.1 cm. The viscosity of the cream increased with higher extract concentrations, with F0 having the lowest viscosity (10,000-10,800 cPs) and F3 the highest (19,000 cPs). Homogeneity testing confirmed that all formulations had uniform distributions without phase separation. In conclusion, the cream based on papaya root waste extract has potential as a natural anti-inflammatory product with physicochemical stability suitable for topical use and adds value to plant waste.

Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in Islamic religious education learning by using the YouTube Kids application. This study is a classroom action research that uses four steps, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were kindergarten students. The data for this study were obtained using test and observation techniques. Tests are used to measure learning outcomes and observations are used to analyze teacher and student learning activities. The data analysis technique used in this study is descriptive statistics by comparing the results obtained with indicators of research success. The results of the study indicate that the YouTube Kids application can improve student learning outcomes in Islamic religious education learning. This can be seen from the increase in the percentage of student learning completion in each cycle with details of the pre-cycle 48.71%, the first cycle 67.39% and in the second cycle it increased to 95.96%. Thus, the use of the YouTube Kids application can be used as an alternative to improve student learning outcomes in Islamic religious education learning.

Abstract

Penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe II di dunia dari tahun ke tahun mengalami peningkatan. Diperkirakan meningkat seiring pertambahan umur penduduk menjadi 19,9% atau sekitar 111,2 juta jiwa pada umur 65-79 tahun. Angka tersebut diprediksi akan terus meningkat hingga mencapai 578 juta pada tahun 2030 dan mencapai 700 juta pada tahun 2045. Desain penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini penderita diabetes melitus yang berobat pada bulan Januari-Desember 2021 berjumlah 85 pasien dengan menggunakan teknik total sampling. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan analisis univariat dan bivariat dengan uji statistik chi square. Hasil penelitiangambaran kepatuhan diet termasuk dalam kategori tidak patuh sebanyak 55 responden (64,7%), status sosial ekonomi kurang baik 53 responden (62,4%), dukungan keluarga kurang baik 52 responden (63%). Dari hasil uji chi square didapatkan ada hubungan antara sosial ekonomi dengan kepatuhan diet (p-value=0,000), dukungan keluarga (p-value=0,013). Diharapkan agar petugas kesehatan dan dinas kesehatan terkait untuk memberikan penyuluhan mengenai pentingnya kepatuhan Diet DM sebagai pengendalian penyakit Diabetes Melitus
