Abstract

Androgenic hair pattern is one of the newest soft biometric trait that can be used to identify criminals when their faces are covered in the evidences of criminal investigation. In real-life situation, sometimes the available evidence is limited thus creating problems for authorities to identify criminal based on the limited data. This research developed the recognition system to identify individuals based on their androgenic hair pattern in a limited data situation in such a way that the limited images were expanded by the augmentation process. There were 50 images studied and expanded into 2.000 images from the augmentation process of rotating, reflecting, adjusting color and intensity. Furthermore, the effect of human skin color extraction was investigated by employing HSV and YCbCr color spaces. The scale-space hierarchy was built among the images with Gaussian function and produced 70% recognition precision that was around more than 2 times higher compared to system of recognition with only limited data.

Abstract

Good performance and compact size are the paramaters which are vital when desiging a filter. One of the creteria of good performance is selectivity. This research, conducted by Hilbert Curve Ring and Siepinski Carpet, is used as defected ground structure to overcome filter selectivity. By using three cascadeds Hilbert Curve Ring defected ground structure cells and three steps Sierpinski carpet, a lowpass filter is designed and fabricated. The measurement result for lowpass filterwith Hilbert Curve Ring defected ground structure has sharper selectivity with the cut off frequency at 2.173 GHz and the insertion loss value is 2.135 dB. While the measurement result for three steps Sierpinski carpet has the cut off frequency at 1.728 GHz and the insertion loss value is 0.682 dB.

Abstract

 There is an increasing interest to have an access to hidden objects without making any destructive action. Such non-destructive method is able to give a picture of the inner part of the structure by measuring some external entities. The problem of reconstructing planar multilayered structures based on given scattering data is an inverse problem. Inverse problems are ill-posed, beside matrix inversion tools, a regularization procedure must be applied additionally. Multiplicative regularization was considered as an appropriate penalty method to solve this problem. The Gauss-Newton inversion method as an optimization procedure was used to find the permittivity values, which minimized some cost functions. Several dielectric layers with different thickness and profiles were observed. Some layers needed more discretization elements and more iteration steps to give the correct profiles.

Abstract

One part of the wireless power transfer system is rectifier, where the energy which received by the receiver conditioned according to the device character. While devices with direct current as a wave form of electrical energy is commonly used. Conventional rectifier was using half wave or full wave circuit where uses diode circuit, capacitor and transformer as filter. The disadvantage of the system is reactive power and harmonization. We proposed the pulse width modulation because PWM could enhanced power factor value on an AC voltage source system with 50 Hz frequency. The main focus on which this study was based was to derive efficiency values from pulse width modulation utilization in the rectification process while the frequency work at 5 MHz and highest power at 54.48 Watt, and compare this reasearch with published research for similar systems. To achieve the objectives of this study then performed design and build system, measurement and analysis of the value of system efficiency. The results of the research obtained the highest value of efficiency at 81%.

Abstract

Androgenic hair pattern stated to be the new biometric trait since 2014. The research to improve the performance of androgenic hair pattern recognition system has begun to be developed due to the problems that occurred when other apparent biometric trait such as face is hidden from sight. The recognition system was built with hierarchical Gaussian scale-space using 4 octaves and 3 levels in each octave. The system also implemented the equalization process to adjust image’s intensity by using histogram equalization. We analyzed 400 images of androgenic hair in the database that were analyzed using 2-fold and 10-fold cross validation and Euclidean distance to classify it. The experimental results showed that our proposed method gave better performance compared to previous work that used Haar wavelet transformation and principal component analysis as the main method. The best recognition precision was 94.23 % obtained from the base octave with the third level using histogram equalization and 10-fold cross validation.

Abstract

The use of mobile phone as a communication tool so rapidly increase, as well as various types of functions therein. Among of the many applications on the mobile phone, which are used skype android-based for teleconferencing via mobile phone. Things can not be separated from these applications is the need of qualified internet network access for these applications can be felt up function. One of the network access to the Internet is widely used today's society is a wi-fi network. Access to the Internet does not always provide the best performance, this is due to many factors, one of which is the presence of interference. In this study, we tested transmission of video signals in real-time using an application skype on the mobile phone. Skype run on wi-fi network, which is influenced by the presence of interference or objects such as human traffic in the network. Wireshark were used to obtain data reliability wi-fi network, known as QoS. While evalvid used to obtain the data QoE restricted only get the data PSNR (Peak Signal To Noise Ratio) and MSE (Mean Square Error).

Abstract

Unwanted hole in metal sheet that use for vehicle body or structure is proved dangerous situation. To prevent disaster this hole needs to be found before its installation, or other wise it will be time and money consuming once its found when already finished installation. Therefore, an inspection using sensor for metal sheet is recommended to prevent this problem. In this paper, we proposed a new sensor using radio wave propagation to detect holes in metal sheet. We propose to use RSSI methods to detect hole based on electromagnetic wave propagation signal strength. Using this method we success to detect 8mm hole diameter in metal sheet with 1mm thickness. Using this method, we transmit electromagnetic wave energy at about 20 dBm, and we receive with average -27.53 dBm for iron sheet and -23.13 dBm for aluminum sheet.

Abstract

 Sierpinki gasket antennas as example of fractal antennas show multiband characteristics. The computer simulation of Sierpinksi gasket monopole with finite ground needs prohibitively large computer memory and computational time. Hybrid methods consist of surface integral equation method and physical optics or uniform geometrical theory of diffraction is expected to alleviate this computational burdens. The full hybridization of the different methods with modifying the incoming electromagnetic waves in case of hybrid method surface integral equation method and physical optics and modification of the Greens function for hybrid method surface integral equation method and uniform geometrical theory of diffraction plays the central role in the observation. A comparison of simulation results of these different methods and are given measurements of a groups of three Sierpinksi gasket antennas are presented. The multiband characteristics of the antennas are observed with some reduction and enhancement of resonances.
