Abstract

This study was conducted due to problems observed in grade VII at SKh PGRI Rangkasbitung, where students had difficulty recognizing the vowels a, i, u, e, and o. The purpose of this study was to test the improvement in vowel recognition, especially in children with intellectual disabilities, through the use of sensory media. This study used a quantitative experimental approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method and an A-B-A research design. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and presented using line graphs. The participant in this study was a seventh-grade student with an intellectual disability, identified by the initial W. The findings indicate that the use of sensory pathway educational media improved the student's ability to recognize vowels. This improvement was reflected in an increase in the average score for both target behaviors. For target behavior 1 (naming vowels), the average score in the baseline-1 phase (A1) was 33%. After the intervention in phase B, the average score rose to 86.63%, and in baseline-2 (A2), the score remained at 73%. For target behavior 2 (pointing to vowels), the average score was 33% in A1, increased to 85.75% during the intervention (B), and then recorded 73% in A2. In conclusion, the results show that sensory path educational media is effective in improving the ability of 7th grade students with intellectual disabilities at SKh PGRI Rangkasbitung to recognize vowels.ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan karena adanya masalah yang diamati pada kelas VII di SKh PGRI Rangkasbitung, di mana siswa kesulitan mengenali huruf vokal a, i, u, e, dan o. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji peningkatan kemampuan mengenali huruf vokal, khususnya pada anak-anak dengan disabilitas intelektual, melalui penggunaan media pendidikan sensory path. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan eksperimental kuantitatif dengan metode Single Subject Research (SSR) dan desain penelitian A-B-A. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara deskriptif dan disajikan menggunakan grafik garis. Peserta dalam penelitian ini adalah seorang siswa kelas VII dengan gangguan intelektual, yang diidentifikasi dengan inisial W. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media pendidikan sensory path meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam mengenali huruf vokal. Peningkatan ini tercermin dalam peningkatan skor rata-rata untuk kedua perilaku target. Untuk perilaku target 1 (menyebutkan vokal), skor rata-rata pada fase baseline-1 (A1) adalah 33%. Setelah intervensi pada fase B, skor rata-rata naik menjadi 86,63%, dan pada baseline-2 (A2), skor tetap pada 73%. Untuk perilaku target 2 (menunjuk huruf vokal), skor rata-rata adalah 33% di A1, meningkat menjadi 85,75% selama intervensi (B), dan kemudian tercatat 73% di A2. Kesimpulannya, hasil menunjukkan bahwa media pendidikan sensory path efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas 7 dengan disabilitas intelektual di SKh PGRI Rangkasbitung dalam mengenali huruf vokal.

Abstract

Accessibility to printed materials and independent recognition of the environment remain key challenges for students with visual impairments. To address this issue, this study introduces Demata 2.0, a fully offline on device multimodal AI system. The system integrates Google ML Kit for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and the YOLOv10 model via TensorFlow Lite for object detection. A mathematical distance algorithm in the RGB color space enables color identification. Evaluation showed that object detection achieved a mean average precision of 31.83%, with an average processing speed of 2–3 FPS. For OCR, the system recorded a Character Error Rate (CER) of 4.81% and a Word Error Rate (WER) of 10.71% on printed documents. The RGB algorithm also determined the closest possible color effectively. Overall, Demata 2.0 advances assistive technology by providing an efficient and practical blueprint for AI integration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan pola interaksi sosial anak dengan hambatan intelektual dengan lingkungan sekolah melalui modifikasi perilaku menggunakan teknik shaping di SKh 01 Kota Serang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Single Subject Research (SSR) dengan desain penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan desain A-B-A dengan rentang sesi yaitu baseilne 1 (A1) sebanyak 4 kali sesi, intervensi (B) sebanyak 8 kali sesi, dan baseline 2 (A2) sebanyak 4 kali sesi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan di tampilkan melalui grafik garis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan penerapan teknik shaping dalam meningkatkan pola interaksi anak dengan hambatan intelektual dapat meningkatkan pola interaksi anak dengan lingkungan sekitar anak dengan hasil yang diperoleh pada fase baseline 1 (A1) nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh yaitu sebesar 33%. Pada intervensi (B) nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh meningkat menjadi 87% sedangkan pada baseline 2 (A2) nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh yaitu sebesar 66%.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited research on the application of the direct instruction method to enhance floral henna art skills, despite the significant impact such skill development can have on the vocational abilities of deaf students, aligned with their individual interests and talents. The objective of this research is to improve the henna art makeup skills of deaf students through the application of the direct instruction method. A quantitative approach was employed using an experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving four participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via performance tests and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The analysis yielded a Thitung value of 10, which is greater than Ttabel = 0 at a 0.05 significance level (N=4), thus rejecting H₀. This indicates that the direct instruction method has a significant effect on improving floral henna art skills in deaf students. These findings support the theory that vocational skill development should align with students’potential, interests, and talents. The study concludes that direct instruction is effective in enhancing vocational skills among deaf students in the field of henna art. The implications include theoretical contributions to special education research and practical benefits for policy formulation, cosmetology skills training, and the development of inclusive vocational programs. This research also opens opportunities for further studies on applying similar methods to other relevant skill areas.

Abstract

This study aimed to implement the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)-based Loose Part Play Media on an understanding of cerebral palsy pre-service teachers in the city of Serang. The participants in this study are cerebral palsy pre-service teachers in Serang, Indonesia. The participant was 21 teachers. The method in this activity is a case study. The results showed that increasing of the STEM understanding was 26.2. It can be concluded that the STEM-based loose part play media can increase the STEM understanding of the pre-service teachers to find solutions to the problems faced by cerebral palsy pre-service teachers in Serang. An increase in understanding achievement indicates this through loose part play STEM of 26.2 (seen from the initial and final test), and the pre-service teacher's understanding of STEM-based loose play part media is 82.5.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using kinetic sand media as an intervention tool to improve the initial writing skills, specifically graphomotor control and letter imitation, in students with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) at SKh Negeri 02 Lebak. The research employed a quantitative pre-experimental design using the One Group Pre-test Post-test design. The subjects consisted of three students with intellectual disabilities (N=3) from the SDLB level. Data were collected through observation checklists (pre-test and post-test) and analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, appropriate for a small sample size. The analysis revealed a significant increase in the subjects’ initial writing scores following the kinetic sand intervention. The statistical test yielded an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of p 0.05, indicating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. This result substantiates that the sensory and manipulative nature of kinetic sand successfully strengthened the subjects' intrinsic hand muscles and enhanced fine motor control necessary for writing. It is concluded that the use of kinetic sand media has a positive and statistically significant effect on improving the initial writing skills of students with intellectual disabilities. The intervention is highly recommended for special education settings as an engaging and effective pre-writing preparatory activity.

Abstract

Parents are the lifeblood of a family who provide good things in educating children, including children with special needs. This study aims to describe the parenting patterns of parents in shaping the independence of children with special needs in Pandeglang District, especially children with conditions of tunagrahita, tunadaksa, and autism. Children with special needs often face obstacles in social development and independent abilities, so the parenting patterns applied by parents have a very crucial role. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation and participatory field notes to a number of parents who have children with special needs. The results showed that there were variations in the parenting patterns used, ranging from authoritarian, permissive, to democratic parenting. The parenting patterns applied by each parent to the independence of hand washing activities for children with special needs in Pandeglang District, namely parents L and F apply a combination of authoritarian, democratic and permissive parenting patterns. This democratic parenting is applied by parents A, D, R, RB, L and F. The six parents apply democratic parenting, namely a clear boundary and an expectation in monitoring children's behavior.  Parents always use reasons and rules as achievements or give warnings related to children's behavior. The application of parenting patterns with good and positive children makes effective application, both for the development of children's independence and vice versa.ABSTRAK Orang tua adalah pelengkap hidup di dalam suatu keluarga yang memberikan hal-hal baik dalam mendidik anak termasuk anak berkebutuhan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pola asuh orang tua dalam membentuk kemandirian anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kecamatan Pandeglang, khususnya anak dengan kondisi tunagrahita, tunadaksa, dan autisme. Anak berkebutuhan khusus seringkali menghadapi hambatan dalam perkembangan sosial dan kemampuan mandiri, sehingga pola asuh yang diterapkan oleh orang tua memiliki peran yang sangat krusial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dokumentasi serta catatan lapangan partisipatif terhadap sejumlah orang tua yang memiliki anak berkebutuhan khusus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat variasi pola asuh yang digunakan, mulai dari pola asuh otoriter, permisif, hingga demokratis. Pola asuh yang diterapkan masing-masing orang tua terhadap kegiatan kemandirian mencuci tangan anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kecamatan Pandeglang yakni orang tua L dan F menerapkan pola asuh kombinasi antara otoriter, demokratis dan permisif.  Pola asuh demokratis ini diterapkan oleh orang tua A, D, R, RB, L dan F keenam orang tua menerapkan pola asuh demokratis yaitu sebuah batasan dan sebuah harapan yang jelas dalam memantau perilaku anak.  Orang tua selalu menggunakan alasan dan aturan sebagai pencapaian atau memberikan peringatan yang berhubungan dengan perilaku anak. Penerapan pola asuh dengan pembawaan yang baik dan positif anak menjadikan penerapan yang efektif, baik terhadap perkembangan kemandirian anak begitupun sebaliknya.

Abstract

Penelititan ini dilatar belakangi oleh siswa tunarunguyang belum mampu membuat telur asin oleh karena itupenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahuikeefektivitasan metode direct instruction dalammeningkatkan keterampilan vokasional membuat telurasin pada siswa tunarungu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif eksperimen denganmenggunakan One Group Pre-test Post-test. Subjekpenelitian ini adalah 5 siswa kelas VIII SMPLB. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penerapan metodedirect instruction dalam meningkatkan keterampilanvokasional membuat telur asin pada siswa tunarunguadalah tes kinerja berupa lembar penilaian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata yang diterimasiswa sebelum diberikan perlakuan (pre-test) adalahsebesar 0, setelah diberikan perlakuan nilai rata-rata yang diterima oleh siswa (post-test) meningkatmenjadi 11. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai Thitung = 15. Dengan taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 dan jumlahsampel N = 5, diperoleh nilai Ttabel = 0. Karena Thitung > Ttabel, maka hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesisalternatif (Ha) diterima. Hal ini mengindikasikanbahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasilpre-test dan post-test setelah diberikannya perlakuan. Penerapan metode direct instruction dapatmeningkatkan keterampilan vokasional membuat telurasin pada siswa tunarungu di SKh Negeri 01 Kota Serang.
