Abstract

The purpose of this action research is to improve students' understanding of basic physics concepts by using the Problem Based Learning model on Newton's law of motion and its application with PhET simulation media. This research is classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects in this study were students of Science Education at the Global Nusantara Education Institute. Data collection techniques with observation and tests. Meanwhile, the data were analyzed using a combination method with a convergent parallel mixed method. Quantitative data analysis with descriptive analysis, data analysis used on qualitative data for data presentation, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that the use of the Problem Based Learning model with PhET Simulation Media could improve students' understanding of basic physics concepts in Newton's law of motion and its application. The improvement in students' understanding of basic physics concepts is marked by an improvement in the average value of understanding basic physics concepts, namely the average value of students from 36.50 (0%) at the pre-action stage to 63.75 (55%) after the first cycle of action and again increasing after-action cycle 2 with an average value of 84.75 (90%). From these data, it can be seen that the use of the Problem Based Learning model with PhET Simulation Media can improve students' understanding of basic physics concepts.Keywords: Understanding Physics Concepts; Problem Based Learning; PhET Simulation DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v10.n1.202204

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap penguasaan konsep sains siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 1 Pringgasela Tahun Pelajaran 2021/2022. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu dengan menggunakan quasi experimental design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pringgasela Tahun Pelajaran 2021/2022 yang berjumlah 7 kelas yakni kelas VIII-1, VIII-2, VIII-3, VIII-4, VIII-5, VIII-6 dan VIII-7. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah dengan menggunakan simple random sampling, dan yang terpilih sebagai sampel adalah kelas VIII-3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan uji t. Setelah analisa data dilakukan, diperoleh harga thitung = 3,82 dan ttabel = 2,000 pada taraf signifikasi 5% dengan dk=65. Karena thitung>ttabel (3,82 > 2,000) maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima yang berarti bahwa pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model Problem Based Learning lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran konvensional. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model Problem Based Learning efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep sains siswa.

Abstract

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) are photoelectrochemical, alternative energy source devices that convert light energy into electricity. In this study, DSSC with various concentrations (0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mM) of N719 dye have been successfully prepared using simple steps. The X-ray diffraction results of the TiO2 film showed that it is polycrystalline with an anatase phase (tetragonal system) having a crystallite size of about 20 nm. The absorbance spectrum of the TiO2 film and N719 dye at various concentrations was recorded by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer. The bandgap energy of the TiO2 film calculated by Tauc’s formula was ~3.1 eV. The DSSC prepared using the N719 dye concentration of 1 mM achieved the highest conversion efficiency (η) of 0.298 %, respectively. Subsequently, the enhancement in efficiency was ~86 % compared with the conversion efficiency of DSSC prepared with an N719 dye concentration of 0.1 and 0.5 mM.

Abstract

Study this aim for know effectiveness use method learning Group Investigations to physics science learning achievement Theory heat student Class VII MTs. Mu'allimin NW Kelayu. Learning with method Group Investigation IPA physics give chance wide to participant educate for develop knowledge in solve related issues with their lessons face. This study uses true experimental research. The population is students of class VII MTs. Mu'allimin NW Kelayu with three classes. Sampling of this research determined randomly with cluster random sampling technique. There are three groups (group study) or group study class VII in MTs. Mu'allimin NW Kelayu. However, from three groups, two classes were randomly selected, totaling 40 students. Sample taken that is student class VIIB as group control and student Class VIIA as group experiment. Class VIIA as class experiment totaling 20 students given treatment with method Group Investigation, meanwhile class VIIB as class control too a total of 20 is given treatment with method conventional (lecture). Draft research used is “ The Post-Test Only Control Design”. Data collection techniques for cognitive achievement with the test method with multiple choice types (multiple choice). Data collected with use instrument in the form of an achievement test learn. The average value of the achievement test acquired learning class taught experiment with using the cooperative learning model of the Group Investigation type is 70.25 , meanwhile the average value of the achievement test acquired learning class being taught with method conventional (lecture) is 56.75 . After test precondition so could conducted test hypothesis an analysis using the t-test, obtained information on the price of t count = 2.98 while the price of t table with dk = n 1+n 2 -2 with a significant level 5% obtained t table = 1.684. Then t count > t table . So that it can be concluded that the method learning Group Investigation is effective to achievement learn IPA physics Theory odd semester calorie student class VII MTs. Mu'allimin NW Kelayu academic year 2021/2022.

Abstract

The SINTA (Science and Technology Index) National Indexation System is a platform developed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to support the management of research data, publications, and community service by lecturers and researchers. However, the lack of understanding regarding how to fill in SINTA data is often an obstacle in improving research and publication track records. This community service activity aims to provide socialization and training to lecturers regarding SINTA data filling following applicable guidelines. The methods used include presentation sessions, simulations, and direct assistance as well as giving pre-test and post-tests to participants. The results of the activity showed that participants experienced an increase in understanding and skills in filling SINTA data by 86%, which had implications for increasing the visibility and academic track record of lecturers. This activity is expected to contribute to improving the quality of research and scientific publications in Indonesia

Abstract

This research aims to find the energy in the Rosen Morse potential with a kappa value equal to zero and supported by the values ​​of different variables. The method used in this research is the Romanovski polynomial method. o obtain the energy equation for the Rosen-Morse potential, first reduce the Dirac equation to a second-order differential equation of the Hypergeometric type. Through the appropriate variable substitution, an intermediate Hypergeometric equation can be obtained which is then made into a standard differential equation form of the Romanovski polynomial and the energy value cannot be solved analytically, so it is solved with the help of the Matlab application. The energy produced in a state where kappa is equal to zero has energy that increases by providing different n.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve awareness, knowledge, and practices of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) within the Ash-Samadi NWDI Islamic Boarding School Foundation through a science-based approach. The program was motivated by the low level of hygiene behavior among students (santri) due to limited facilities and a lack of scientific understanding of the importance of cleanliness. The implementation method used an action-oriented community intervention model consisting of preparation, education, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation stages. Education was carried out through interactive training, simple scientific demonstrations, and hands-on practices such as the construction of handwashing stations, waste sorting bins, and organic composters. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The results showed a significant improvement in students’ awareness and behavior regarding personal and environmental hygiene. The students gained scientific understanding of the relationship between cleanliness and health, and an environmentally conscious student group was formed to ensure program sustainability. Thus, this activity demonstrates that a science-based approach in PHBS education is effective in shaping healthy living behaviors and can serve as a model for similar implementations in other Islamic educational institutions.
