Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a disease that is often not felt but can have serious consequences for health. One way to prevent and overcome hypertension is using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is the progressive muscle relaxation technique which is useful for lowering blood pressure. This study aims to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on reducing systolic blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. Methods: The method used is quantitative research with a pre-post test quasi-experimental research design with a control group. Sampling using a simple random sampling technique with a total of 60 respondents divided into 2 groups, namely, 30 intervention groups and 30 control groups. Data analysis using the Independent Sample T-test parametric test. Results: The results showed the average value of pre-test blood pressure in the intervention group was 157 mmHg and the control group was 149 mmHg, while in the post-test the intervention group after being given the progressive muscle relaxation technique was 136 mmHg and the control group was 134 mmHg. Data analysis using the Independent Sample T-test test obtained a p-value of 0.000 which indicates the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on the elderly with hypertension. Conclusions: Therefore, it can be concluded that progressive muscle relaxation techniques can have an effect on reducing systolic blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension and it is recommended that this study be used as a reference material and implementation in performing progressive muscle relaxation techniques to prevent and control hypertension.

Abstract

Introduction: Ischemic stroke has become the leading cause of premature death in the last two decades. The biggest problem in preventing recurrence ischemic stroke is the compliance of the sufferers and the obedient behavior will arise only if they are consistent and have a strong intention. This study aims to determine the effect of behavioral counseling in increasing the intention to prevent recurrent ischemic stroke by using the theory of planned behavior model approach. Methods: Randomized Control Trial was conducted on 64 patients after an ischemic stroke that was managed by a public health center in East Java, Indonesia. Simple random sampling technique was used to take samples in this study. We provided behavioral counseling regarding the prevention of ischemic stroke recurrence to the treatment group using the Behavioral module which was compiled based on the guidelines from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), while the intention variable was measured using the intention measurement instrument from the TPB Questionaries. The data obtained were then analyzed by using an independent t test. Results: The result revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean value of the intention variable between the control group and the treatment group after the TPB-based behavioral counseling intervention for 1 month (p=0.015). Discussion: The behavioral counseling of TPB-based can be implemented as an alternative way in increasing the sufferers’ intention to prevent recurrence ischemic stroke. Further research in a broader scope is needed to prove the effectiveness of behavioral counseling on the structural values of the Theory of Planned Behavior.

Abstract

The Elderly is a person over 60 years of age who is heavily at risk of Hypertesnia disease. Hypertension is an uncontagious disease, which has increased prevalence in Indonesia from 2013 to 2018. The purpose of this writing is to determine the influence of infused water cucumber on the decline in blood pressure in the elderly and to study the benefits of infused water cucumber. The search method of the library resource is done online using databases such as Google Scholar. The keywords used are "infused water", "hypertension", "elderly". The literature search is limited in the years 2010 to 2020. There are 4 research articles analyzed, Infused water is a combination of any fruit, vegetables, or herbal ingredients soaked in cold water. And has many advantages such as richer vitamins, more mineral-rich, more fresh and delicious water flavor, distinctive aroma, more attractive color. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus Linn) contains beneficial substances in health such as potassium, calcium, and magnesium. The results of this review literature are expected to be the basis for providing hypertensive drug escort intervention in the community as well as advanced research developers.

Abstract

Introduction: The increase in the number of Tuberculosis sufferers is caused by various factors, namely the lack of patient compliance for treatment and taking medication, expensive drug prices, the emergence of multiple resistances, lack of host resistance to mycobacteria and reduced bactericidal power of existing drugs. It also has other negative impacts, socially stigmatized and ostracized by the community. Methods: This research is quantitative type. The design of this research is design used in this research, which is a cross-sectional design with observation or data collection at once (point time approach). The sample in this study was 20 people. The sampling technique used in this study was census sampling, this research data collection used a questionnaire measuring instrument, and the data analysis used the chi-square test. Results: the results of the analysis showed a significant degree of p < 0.000 by setting the degree of significance <0.005; thus, the conclusion is that there is a relationship between knowledge and adherence to drinking pulmonary tuberculosis in adolescents. Conclusions: there is a relationship between knowledge and adherence to drinking pulmonary tuberculosis in adolescents at the pediatric outpatients department at the District Hospital Subang.

Abstract

Background: Snakebites are an emergency that can cause death if not treated immediately. Lack of community knowledge on first aid for snakebites can increase the incidence of infection or death. Education is needed to improve community knowledge. However, community education using audiovisual methods for snakebite prevention remains limited. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of audiovisual education on knowledge of handling snakebites in the community at UPT Puskesmas Kepanjenkidul, Blitar City. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pre–posttest design was used. Participants were ≥18 years old community members recruited from the outpatient registry using simple random sampling. A validated 15-item knowledge questionnaire was administered before and after a 5-minute audiovisual educational intervention. Inclusion criteria: consent to participate; exclusion: prior training on snakebite management. Data was collected using a knowledge questionnaire used to assess community knowledge regarding snakebite management. The study reporting followed the TREND Statement for non-randomized evaluations of behavioral interventions. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank test with α < 0.05.. Results: The level of knowledge of handling snakebites before education was in the fair category for most of the respondents (45 respondents or 51.1%). After education, almost all respondents (80 respondents or 90.9%) had a good level of knowledge. Results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p < 0.001. Conclusion: Health education using audiovisual media influences knowledge of handling snakebites. Audiovisual media can display elements of images and sound simultaneously in conveying information. Video media in the learning process is more effective in increasing knowledge. Thus, health workers are expected to provide education using audiovisual media since it is easy to receive and understand by the community.
