Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of the storytelling method as an effective strategy in character education in elementary schools. In the challenging era of globalization, students are not only required to be academically intelligent, but also to have strong characters and noble morals. The rapid flow of information and changes in social values ​​that occur require a learning approach that is able to build the moral foundation of students from an early age. The storytelling method is present as one solution because it is able to convey character values ​​in a fun, contextual, and touching way for children's emotions. This study uses a qualitative literature study approach, by reviewing various research results, scientific journals, articles, and books related to the application of the storytelling method in character learning. The results of the study show that stories can instill the values ​​of honesty, responsibility, empathy, tolerance, and cooperation more meaningfully. The active involvement of teachers as storytellers and learning facilitators has a major influence on building students' emotional involvement and creating a positive learning atmosphere. However, there are still challenges such as limited media, lack of teacher training, and limited time in class. Therefore, innovative strategies such as the use of audiovisual media, role-playing, and making stories with students are effective alternatives. In conclusion, the storytelling method is a potential approach to instilling character values ​​comprehensively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of giving specific praise in improving the learning focus of elementary school students. Learning focus is a crucial aspect in supporting students' academic success, especially at the elementary education level. This study uses a literature review method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through searching and analyzing relevant literature, including scientific journals, books, and previous research results. The analysis technique used was thematic analysis to identify patterns and synthesize the main findings. The results of the study showed that specific praise delivered appropriately, directly, and relevant to students' positive behavior proved to be more effective than general praise in increasing students' attention, concentration, and learning participation. Specific praise is also related to increased self-confidence and learning motivation. However, its effectiveness is influenced by factors such as student characteristics, teacher consistency, and learning context. This study concludes that specific praise is a simple but powerful strategy that can be applied by teachers to create a more positive and focused learning environment. This study also provides implications for learning practices and teacher training in implementing positive reinforcement effectively.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the challenges faced by novice teachers in implementing a dual curriculum—which includes the national curriculum and Islamic curriculum—in Islamic Elementary Schools (SDI). The dual curriculum in SDI requires integration between mastery of general knowledge and instilling strong Islamic values. However, in practice, novice teachers experience various difficulties, ranging from limited understanding of the two types of curriculum, heavy administrative burdens, to social and cultural pressures of religious schools. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach based on literature studies, by analyzing relevant academic literature from journals, proceedings, and scientific books in the last ten years. The results of the analysis show that novice teachers experience challenges in pedagogical, structural, psychological, and cultural aspects. They often feel unprepared to develop integrative teaching materials, manage time effectively, and meet institutional and parental expectations. The lack of mentoring, training, and assistance programs also worsen the situation, causing work stress and the risk of burnout. This study concludes that the challenges faced by novice teachers in the context of the dual curriculum are systemic and require a structured and sustainable solution approach, such as strengthening integrated training, integrating curriculum management, and developing a professional development system that supports the pedagogical and spiritual development of novice teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in fostering creativity among elementary school students, particularly in the respiratory system topic within Natural Science (IPA) learning. Creativity, as one of the essential 21st-century competencies, needs to be developed from an early age through learning approaches that are active, contextual, and student-centered. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, utilizing various sources such as accredited scientific journal articles, relevant books, and previous research reports published between 2017 and 2025. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of PjBL in the respiratory system topic effectively enhances student creativity through exploratory activities such as creating lung models, organizing clean air campaigns, and conducting simple experiments. PjBL also supports the development of collaborative skills, problem-solving abilities, and learning responsibility. In conclusion, PjBL is an effective and relevant instructional strategy to increase creativity and create meaningful learning experiences at the elementary school level, especially in science education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of collaborative learning in enhancing empathy and cooperation in inclusive elementary school classrooms. Through a literature review, the researcher analyzed various sources related to collaborative strategies such as think-pair-share, jigsaw, and project-based learning. The findings indicate that collaborative learning effectively promotes positive interactions between regular students and students with special needs. It facilitates mutual understanding, respect for differences, and joint task completion. Strategies include heterogeneous group discussions, active teacher facilitation, and group reflections to strengthen empathy. Supporting factors include inclusive teacher attitudes and school support, while major obstacles involve time constraints, varying student abilities, and limited teacher training. In conclusion, collaborative learning shows strong potential in fostering inclusive, equitable, and humanistic classroom environments.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the use of interactive learning media in improving the quality of mathematics learning in elementary school students. The main problem in mathematics learning at the elementary school level is the low interest and understanding of students towards abstract mathematical concepts. For this reason, interactive media is expected to be an alternative that is able to present material in an interesting, concrete, and easy-to-understand way for students. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach, which involves analysis of a number of reference sources such as scientific journals, books, and current research reports that discuss similar topics. The results of the study show that interactive media is able to attract students' attention through the presentation of visuals, audio, and interactive activities that are in accordance with the learning characteristics of elementary school-aged children. This media has also been shown to increase students' motivation and interest in learning, because learning becomes more enjoyable and not boring. In addition, students' understanding of mathematical concepts increases due to the presence of visual representations that help bridge abstract concepts with concrete experiences. However, the effectiveness of interactive media also depends on the readiness of the technological infrastructure in schools and the competence of teachers in managing and utilizing the media. Therefore, support in the form of training and provision of facilities and infrastructure is needed so that interactive media can be implemented optimally in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of illustrated comic media in Indonesian language learning as an effort to improve the responsibility values ​​of grade 2 elementary school students. The value of responsibility is an important part of character education that needs to be instilled early on, especially through an approach that is appropriate to the child's developmental stage. The methodology used in this study is a literature study, by reviewing a number of sources such as scientific journals, reference books, and previous research reports that are relevant to the use of comic media in the context of learning and strengthening character. The results of the study indicate that illustrated comic media can be an effective means of conveying moral messages because it combines visual and narrative aspects that are interesting for early childhood students. Comics allow the presentation of responsibility values ​​through characters and storylines that are easy to understand and serve as role models for students. In the context of Indonesian language learning, comics also support reading skills and understanding the contents of the story, while facilitating discussion of the values ​​contained therein. The conclusion of this study shows that the use of illustrated comic media in a planned and systematic manner can contribute positively to improving students' understanding and application of responsibility values ​​in everyday life. This media also supports the creation of fun, meaningful, and contextual learning for elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the role playing method in improving understanding of historical context in fifth grade elementary school students. The background of this study is the low ability of students to understand history as a whole, where learning tends to focus on memorizing facts such as names of figures, dates, and events, without understanding the background, process, and values ​​contained therein. The role playing method was chosen because it is able to present an active, participatory learning experience, and facilitate students to understand historical events through role simulation and story reconstruction. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies, by reviewing various research results, journals, and scientific references related to the application of role playing in history learning. The results of the study show that the role playing method is effective in increasing student involvement, motivating learning, and deepening contextual understanding of historical events. In addition, role playing also contributes to developing students' social, communication, empathy, and critical thinking skills. Supporting factors for the success of this method include relevant scenario design, the role of the teacher as a facilitator, a conducive learning environment, and appropriate assessment. Obstacles such as student shyness, time constraints, and lack of facilities can be overcome with the right approach. Thus, role playing is recommended as an innovative learning strategy to improve more contextual, meaningful, and enjoyable understanding of history in Elementary Schools.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance elementary school students' learning enthusiasm in mathematics through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach. The background of this research is the low motivation among students, caused by the dominance of conventional, teacher-centered teaching methods, limited active student engagement, and abstract, non-contextual learning materials. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using observation, documentation, and literature review as data collection techniques. The research subjects were elementary school students engaged in mathematics learning through project-based activities. One of the implemented projects was the creation of a measuring tool made from recycled materials, designed to be relevant to students’ daily lives and aligned with the learning objectives of the Merdeka Curriculum. The data were analyzed using data reduction, narrative presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques, with validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The results indicated a significant increase in students' learning enthusiasm, as reflected in the questionnaire scores which rose from 65 to 83, along with improvements in indicators such as curiosity, enthusiasm, collaboration, and self-confidence. PjBL proved effective in fostering students’ intrinsic motivation by offering autonomy, authentic projects, active collaboration, and constructive feedback. Despite challenges such as time management, limited resources, and varying group participation levels, the implementation of PjBL succeeded in creating a more meaningful, enjoyable, and contextual learning environment. This study recommends broader adoption of PjBL in elementary mathematics education as a strategic effort to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method in improving the reading comprehension skills of grade III elementary school students. The background of this study is the low reading comprehension skills of students who are still dominated by conventional learning methods. This study uses a library research approach with a qualitative descriptive method. Data were obtained from various scientific literature such as journals, books, research reports, and other scientific works relevant to the topic. The analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques to identify the main findings related to the application of the CIRC method. The results of the study show that the CIRC method can significantly improve students' reading comprehension skills. This method emphasizes group work, active discussion, summary preparation, and writing skills, which in an integrated manner encourage students' active involvement and strengthen their understanding of the contents of the reading. In addition to improving reading comprehension, this method also develops students' critical thinking skills, social skills, and self-confidence. However, in its implementation, challenges such as time management, group dynamics, and teacher readiness are important factors that need to be considered. In conclusion, the CIRC method is an effective and applicable learning strategy to improve reading comprehension skills in elementary schools, with the note that the implementation must be carefully designed and supported by a conducive learning environment.
