Abstract

This study aims to find out how well the Guided Inquiry Learning (GIL) paradigm works to help students learn about buffer solutions in chemistry classes. To conduct a thorough literature analysis, 15 research publications examined the effects of GIL on many facets of student learning—such as conceptual knowledge, process skills, critical thinking, motivation, and attitude—. Compared to conventional teaching techniques, the results repeatedly show that the GIL model greatly enhanced student learning outcomes. In addition to developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, students also showed a more excellent conceptual grasp of buffer solutions and improved scientific process skills (such as hypothesis development, data analysis, and inference). Furthermore, GIL fostered enhanced self-efficacy, better attitudes about learning, and higher levels of student motivation. The review also emphasizes how adaptable the GIL paradigm is, with successful outcomes from various implementations. These include virtual laboratories, LKS (Student Worksheets), LKPD (Learner Worksheets), and guided inquiry with diagrams. To improve learning experiences and attain better results in chemistry education, our findings highlight the significance of guided exploration, active student engagement, and collaborative learning.

Abstract

Abstract:  Misconceptions in chemistry learning, particularly in electrochemical cells such as voltaic cells and electrolysis, often arise due to the complexity of redox concepts, electron transfer, and processes occurring at the anode and cathode. This study aims to develop a pictorial-based, five-tier multiple-choice diagnostic test to identify misconceptions in this subject. The method used follows the Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Tessmer model, which consists of five stages: preliminary analysis, self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, and small group evaluation. Validity was assessed using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI), while reliability was tested using the Rasch model. The results indicate that the instrument is valid (average CVI = 1.00) and has moderate reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.71–0.76). It successfully identifies misconceptions related to the working principles of voltaic cells, electrolysis, and the direction of electron flow. The majority of students rely on the internet as their primary source of information; however, the lack of verification increases the risk of misconceptions. This instrument is expected to help teachers design data-driven learning strategies to enhance students' understanding.

Abstract

The independent curriculum as an effort to improve the quality of Indonesian education gave birth to a new character education known as the Pancasila student profile. The Pancasila student profile answers the character problems of the nation's children in the current era. The aim of the Pancasila student profile is to produce students who have basic competencies and behavior that is in line with Pancasila values. Seeing this urgency, the cultivation of the Pancasila student profile is now starting to be carried out at various levels of education. This research is a descriptive study which aims to analyze the strengthening of the profile of Pancasila students through habituation activities based on Islamic values at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The subjects of this research were teachers and students at MTsN 1 Yogyakarta. The data collection technique used was semi-structured interviews or in-dept interviews with informants as primary data and document studies as secondary data. The collected data will be analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that efforts to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students can be done through habituation activities based on Islamic values. Habituation activities carried out consistently will shape the behavior and character of students in accordance with the six dimensions of the Pancasila student profile.

Abstract

The complexity of thermochemistry and its abstract nature is often difficult for students to study. To address this issue, we designed an Android-based application using Kvisoft FlipBook Maker and AppsGeyser to help their study process. This research focuses on improving students' understanding of thermochemistry through digital learning tools. Using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) development model, we created an interactive learning module in the form of an android application. The reason for using an android application is because there is no longer a risk that the learning module will be hidden or forgotten with other files, the application can also be accessed easily as long as it has an android device. Previous research has also indicated that a digital teaching tool can improve the understanding of chemistry learning due to attractive visualization and self-learning opportunities. This study involved validation from media and material experts, as well as assessment from chemistry teachers and students of SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Yogyakarta. The final product received high validation scores, with 97.8% from media experts, 93.3% from material experts, and 90.3% from chemistry teachers. In addition, 95.8% of students responded positively to the app. These findings suggest that the developed application is highly effective for independent student learning and can enhance engagement with thermochemistry concepts.
