Abstract

This study addresses chronic operational inefficiencies at the Batu Licin Fuel Terminal (TBBM), PT Multi Trading Pratama, characterized by prolonged industrial fuel truck queues. Applying a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the research collected quantitative data from 120 service events and qualitative insights from operational staff. Analysis using the M/M/c queuing model revealed system instability (ρ=1.37), an average queue length (Lq) of 8.41 trucks, and an average waiting time (Wq) of 68.9 minutes during peak hours. Root causes identified through thematic analysis include schedule non-compliance, high service time variability, and inefficient pre-loading procedures. Simulation of optimization scenarios demonstrated that adding a third loading arm (server) was the most effective intervention, stabilizing the system (ρ=0.91) and reducing waiting time by 89.8%. This research contributes to operational management literature by providing empirical evidence for applying Queuing Theory in the downstream energy sector and offers actionable, prioritized recommendations for terminal managers to enhance throughput, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of discipline on employee performance in the protocol and communication section of the Paser Regency Regional Secretariat. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method. The population in this study were all employees working in the Protocol and Communication Section of the Paser Regency Regional Secretariat, totaling 34 people. In this study, the researcher used a total sample technique so that the sample in this study was 34 employees. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS Version 26. The results of the study showed that the variables Preventive Discipline, Corrective Discipline, and Progressive Discipline had a positive effect on Employee Performance in the Protocol and Communication Section of the Paser Regency Regional Secretariat. Simultaneous testing of the F count value of 6.236 with a significance level of 0.002, it is known that the F table value is 2.92 (df 3:30) then 6.236> 2.92 means that together the discipline variables consisting of Preventive Discipline (X1), Corrective Discipline (X2), Progressive Discipline (X3), have an effect on Employee Performance (Y). From the results of the determination coefficient (R2) the Adjusted R Square value is 0.332 or 33.2% meaning that the independent variable, namely discipline (X) consisting of Preventive Discipline (X1), Corrective Discipline (X2), Progressive Discipline (X3), contributes 33.2% to Employee Performance, the remaining 56.8% is distributed by other variables not examined in this study.

Abstract

J&T Express, as one of the leading shipping companies, faces challenges in evaluating employee performance, particularly couriers, to determine the best candidates worthy of promotion to permanent positions. This study focuses on designing and implementing a Decision Support System (DSS) for selecting high-performing employees using the SAW method, while also assessing the priority order's resilience to variations in weights for each assessment criterion. This study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative exploration through interviews and surveys to identify assessment criteria with quantitative SAW-based scoring for the ranking process; primary data was drawn from surveys and interviews with J&T Express supervisors, supported by literature studies from related scientific journals. Five main criteria were established: delivery performance, discipline, neatness, work experience, and competency test results. The findings of this study indicate that the application of the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is able to produce an objective and structured employee priority order.
