Abstract

Forest and land rehabilitation is an effort to restore, maintain and improve the function of forests and land so that their carrying capacity, productivity and their role in supporting life support systems are maintained. Community involvement should be a stimulus for community participation and a driving force for successful forest rehabilitation. This study aims to find out the role of the community in forest and land rehabilitation activities. The method used is in the form of observation and in-depth interviews, then analyzed with a qualitative descriptive method. The community's role in the vegetative forest and land rehabilitation activities carried out is still not participatory, especially during the monitoring and evaluation stages because program implementation tends to take place only as a project that needs to be completed..Rehabilitasi hutan dan lahan merupakan suatu upaya untuk memulihkan, mempertahankan dan meningkatkan fungsi hutan dan lahan sehingga daya dukung, produktivitas dan peranannya dalam mendukung sistem penyangga kehidupan tetap terjaga, keterlibatan masyarakat seharusnya menjadi stimulus partisipasi masyarakat dan pendorong keberhasilan rehabilitasi hutan.

Abstract

Mangrove forest ecosystems are located in the tidal zone of seawater, such as swamps, lagoons, river estuaries, and beaches in protected tropical and subtropical coastal areas. Mangrove forests are degraded due to human interests. The transfer of functions has an impact on reducing the ability to sequestrate carbon in the atmosphere and the decomposement of stored carbon through the process of decomposition into the atmosphere. This study aims to determine the potential of biomass and carbon stocks in the mangrove forest area of Kanci Kulon Village, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency. The method used is purposive sampling, where the location of the plot is adjusted to the accessibility of existing roads, rivers or canals. The Sampling Intensity used is 10%. Data collection was carried out by creating a plot of sample circles with a radius of 14 m for trees and a radius of 4 m for stakes There are 2 types of mangroves found, namely Avicennia marina (White Flames) and Avicennia alba (Black Flames), the dominating population is in the 1-10 cm diameter class with the Avicennia marina type. Biomass in all types of the largest value is in the diameter class of 11-20 cm with a value of 24,234.76 tons/ha, and the smallest biomass is in the diameter class of 31–40 cm with a value of 791.85 tons/ha, while for carbon in all types the highest value is in the diameter class of 11–20 cm with a value of 11,147.99 tons/ha and the smallest carbon is in the diameter class of 31–40 cm with a value of 364.25 tons/ha. The size of the diameter will affect the biomass of the stand, the larger the diameter of the tree, the larger the biomass produced, and vice versa the smaller the biomass produced is influenced by the small diameter. Abstract

Plants are a place to store carbon (carbondioxide sink). One way to reduce the impact of global warming is to control carbon concentrations through a sinking program, where organic carbon as a result of photosynthesis will be stored in the biomass of standing forests or woody trees. This study aims to determine the potential amount of biomass and carbon stored in understory at the Pasir Batang Camping Ground, Gunung Ciremai National Park. The method used is the checkered line method, which is placed by purposive sampling. The plots used in this study are 1m x 1m squares which are placed along the path of 30 plots. The results showed that the highest Importance Value Index (IVI) was Canarium callothyrus at 120% and the best was Oxalis corniculata at 3%. The estimated potential of understorey biomass is 92,3 tonnes with an average of 3,08 tonnes/ha. The estimated potential for understorey carbon storage is 43,4 tonnes with an average of 1,45 tonnes/ha.

Abstract

The existence of orchids in nature continues to decline due to habitat destruction and overexploitation. Conservation efforts that have been carried out so far have often experienced difficulties due to insufficient data and information as a basis for management, including conservation areas. The more widespread forest destruction will result in these species being threatened with extinction. This study aims to determine the diversity of orchid species, on the Wirayana Mount Cakrabuana Climbing Path. The information is expected to provide an initial contribution to the area management and orchid conservation efforts on the Wirayana Mount Cakrabuana Climbing Path. This research was conducted by means of a vegetation survey, sampling and documentation by exploring the existence of orchids. The sampling technique used the path transect method. The number of transects used is one line transect with a line length of 1500 m with a total of 22 sample plots. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the Important Value Index (INP), Species Dominance Index (Di) and Species Diversity Index (H'). The results showed that in the natural forest area of Mount Cakrabuana there were 22 species of individuals which included 7 species of terrestrial orchids and 15 species of epiphytic orchids with a total of 243 individuals found. From the results of the calculation of species diversity, it is stated that the diversity of orchid species in the natural forest area of Mount Cakrabuana is classified as moderate (2,973). This information is very important, especially for area managers in preserving the biodiversity of Mount Cakrabuana, especially orchids in the future.
